Root New Rooter Needing Encouragment lol

It's just a corrupt file system. It happens, especially on flash memory. Usually reading or writing data is involved somehow

reformatted the card as mentioned the other day and all was ok until this morning.

I thought i would give the kernal a try again and loaded it on, as soon as i did, I then took some pictures and the same weird things started, cant see them via the pc but was able to send it from the phone via gmail.

So I restored the backup I took this morning and hoped maybe that was the problem away .... no such luck.

Files that i have deleted via the phone direct are still visible via the pc but not via phone and pics that I took after that deletion are not visible through the pc but visible through the phone until after I reboot the phone, then I have a combination of deleted and new pictures.

This I am assuming is all down to the card, so time to get a new one before I go away on thursday

ack to hell with it - ordered a new one from amazon with delivery before 1pm tomorrow .... and upgraded the upgrade while i was at it, so went from 8gb to 16gb and now to 32gb within the space of a couple of weeks lol

Well new card arrived, got it ready, put it in phone and then loaded everything and restored backup, so it was redux 1.2 but with the miui camera.

Then I loaded on that kendal again and hooked phone up to pc to load on some new tunes and the phone started going bizarre again, saying the folder I was copying too wasn't there.

I think there is an issue with combination of redux, miui camera and that kernel, that its causing a problem unless by some major coincidence I have managed to get 2 dodgy cards from trip different suppliers made made different manufacturers.

Beginning to think I should do a complete new reinstall of redux and the camera only rather than from a backup which may contain an issue, what you guys think?

If I wanted to start from scratch with everything and what i mean by that is the following :

1. TI backup of all my apps
2. completly wipe memory card
3. Do a complete re-install of Redux
4. Do a re-install of a Miui camera
5. Restore my apps

what do I actually need on my memory card ?????

I realise I will need to put Redux back on and my TI back up files & the camera, but do I need any other folders on there ???

Im probably not explaining myself right, its late and im fecked, but what I would like to do is start with a completely blank memory card and do a complete re-write of everything, but I dont know if thats possible.

I would start from scratch with apps too, but only have till thursday to i go away and aint packed anything yet lol, so TI is prob best way to go

So I guess the question is... how do you start from scratch as if you have just recieved the phone???

You don't have to have anything on the card except what you've mentioned

i am assuming that redoing Redux and the titanium backup will put all the folders back that I actually need onto the card.

When I do the titanium, will all the apps auto go onto the ext3 partition on the card ?

Whats the best way to reformat the card to give it a clear out ?

I wonder if I am not seeing hidden folders or something when I am doing the copy from one card to another etc and thats whats causing issues ?

So long as you have an a2sd script in place first. Redux comes with one but if you want dalvik moved too, dont forget you have to flash the a,ternative one from the redux download site.

Gparted or recovery. Android would format out the a2sd partition

Just set windows to show hidden folders. Shouldnt be causing an issue with taking photos though.

hmmm you could try cm7 light its a small install like redux but so far its been problem free for me

Oxygen is a good alternative to Redux. I'm using it myself.
CM7 or CM7 Light or Gingervillain are other good alternatives, with more hacks
You don't need to be S-OFF to use any of these.
In all these ROMs you can choose to move Dalvik cache to SD card.
