Root New to rooting, need some help

I took the files out of the guide @ http://androidforums.com/evo-4g-all...-rooting-gingerbread-2-3-5-dummies-guide.html

could it not be the correct fastboot?

ehh...I don't know what happened but I think I clicked fastboot then it spit out the key and now I'm unlocked...waiting on nandroid now...Soon to have my MikG back...woot woot!
