What shall we name it?

Everyone who's flashed it on an MR2 based ROM says its working just fine.

One mention of hotspot not working however. Scotty can you verify if tethering is still working?

I like MR2.75. Although it must be said, Chingy just said this is more than likely the same radio as 2.5 just a different build number

No way it's still working. That's why I was skeptical of this update to begin with. It seemed like a good way to kill the hotspot, load up more bloat and hopefully fix the PR mess from the reboots

Chingy-look at all the numbers before the .0627r. their all the same on the radios. those last numbers are just the build date.
 
For what it worth a couple people on xda who flashed the radio said they booted up with no service. They could be noob and not know what they're doing, just an fyi either way :D
 
Im curious if this is VZW's way of killing the free hotspot for stockers disguised as an upgrade with a couple tweaks added.

What was the official day they said free hotspot was ending?

The 7th, the same day the "tears" went into effect. I have no doubt that that's exactly what this OTA is. especially after Chingy said it was the same as MR2/2.5.
 
Contradicting reports if this radio is newer or not. Some users are reporting quicker GPS locks.

I think you just hit the nail on the head. Along with allowing them to say they are fixing the reboot issue. I wonder if they are tracking who doesn't accept the update
 
Tried the new radio, seems to be working fine. I have to go about 10min south to get 4g so I don't know about that. CM7 tether is working, currently typing from my comp using my blazing 3g speeds. Also never had a problem with reboots so can't test that either. GPS locks on 3g which I could never get a decent lock without wifi previously. Weatherbug found my location in about 3-4 seconds on 3g as well. Again, previously needed wifi to even get data with Weatherbug.

I'll run it for a day and test out 4g tomorrow.

Not sure if Chingy's assumption that it's the same as the previously leaked MR2 radio is correct. If nothing else, GPS is definitely improved for me.
 
I've been running the new radio for the past couple hours, coming from MR1. I don't really see any improvements to be honest (and didn't really see any in MR2/2.5 either) I still get a fast GPS lock, data hand offs are solid, but still no turn by turn in navigation app. That is REALLY starting to pi*s me off to no end. All in all it's too early to say for sure if this radio is better or worse. A good test should be about a week, IMO. As long as I don't notice any strange issues, data hand offs stay tight and don't experience any random reboots I'll probably stay on this radio for the foreseeable future.
 
I'm on the new radio now. I can't see it being the same as our leaked versions.
Before it took 10 to 15 seconds to get a GPS lock (leaked mr2). Now it takes less than 5 seconds. I've read of countless others saying the same thing.
I can't speak for 4g speeds but my 3g seems about the same 1.1 to 1.8 down and .8 up with 170 ping.
My location on the weather clock is still off. I think this has to do with my location. While I was out of town it was spot on on.
 
ive been on the radio and ota since i flashed it yesterday. i havent done any speed tests,but yesterday my phone was broken :eek: 3 and 4g mysteriuosly started working again today,and on the stock rom i cant say ive had any trouble. all my texts have sent right away and data has beein reliable :confused:

im about to restore my mr2 cm7 and see how that goes.

People are saying the new radio works wonders on cm7. Speeds are supposedly way up.
 
They do seem to play very nicely together.

I don't have any plans on switching radios or ROM's anytime soon unless its OMFGB which sounds like its as good as CM7 right now. I guess Slayher and what's his nuts have been sharing code to get the AOSP ROM's more stable.

I think Slayher deserves another donation from my Android Fund. Which seems to be growing recently. Or shrinking I spose.. :p
