I am rooted and have super user, and thats it. No rom, no mod, nothing changed. I got the update with no problem.

Yes, Netflix works but its laggy. The uverse on demand app plays videos without the lag.

But Henryy states:So it is ok to update an already rooted phone and it will stay rooted?
I have FROYO.EE14, am Rooted with Superuser installed. Nothing else, no Mods/Roms or anything. I have recently done a factory data reset, put in my google account info, did not install any apps, did not make initial connection to market yet.The rooted phone will get the update pushed to it, but the installation will fail (It will NOT unroot).

Phone keeps nagging me to install the Gingerbread update that it downloaded, but I'm not sure if I should based on what I have been reading here and other posts, but going to what I quoted above, who is correct?
Will the phone stay rooted or not? Will it install? -One says yes, one says no, I'm not exp. enough yet to backup or Odin anything yet.
Also - I just got to the point where I felt comfortable enough as a newbie to go ahead with the install/mod of [MOD] Darktremor A2SD for Prevail, (to take care of space issue) but if I do, and then afterwards install the Gingerbread update, will this be effected in any way, can bad things happen?
Like to hear anyone's thought's on this.
thanks.

Not entirely correct, if you have not removed any bloatware you can get the update, it will install, however after it installs you will NOT have root anymore. The update should not install on a rooted phone . If you want GingerBread , you will need to Odin back to stock , download the update and install it then re-root your phone . You can also Odin a pre-rooted version if you wish . That is the route I took .
Here is the link I used to install my rooted GingerBread .

Hope it helps ya .
EDIT: I am running rooted GB with CWM , CTMOD and App2SD . Everything is working as it should . Please take time to READ and follow the instructions provided in each of the threads . Too , READ the comments from the ones who have done this before you and learn from their mistakes .

That however is not a problem as shabby's oneclick root will work on stock gingerbread fine.
You should take the update, see how you like it and if you DO NOT like it use Odin and go back to froyo.
Alright. I actually got the gingerbread update stock last night. I like it, but hate having the stock bloatware, I am assuming that I need to root to get rid of it, is there a way to root stock GB? If so can someone give me a link to directions on how to do this. Also let me know if I'm right about having to root to get rid of the bloatware. Thanks.

Maybe I'll wait. lol I keep reading more and more about new problems popping up, I can't take the chance just yet, this is my only phone, I have no internet other than this being linked to my pc, and I have no income, transportation, or other contact to the outside world other than this phone...... I think I will wait and keep reading a while.
Did it cause any memory problems afterwards?
Those errors are perfectly normal.I installed the update, did a factory reset, then rooted. All seems good except there were 2 errors during the root process and afterwards it went into that constant logo-vibrate thing, took the battery out and powered up. The 1st is in the 4th line in the screenshot below a "segmentation fault" and the other is the one you mentioned in your post above botzgori, and the one I'm more concerned about:
rm failed for /data/local/zergRush, No such file or directory
![]()
The phone is updated with gingerbread, I do have root, I checked it with Root Checker from the market, superuser is installed and I only installed Pdanet3.02, nothing else.
I know this would probably go in the all things root section, but you mentioned the above error, and I got it. I looked around but did not see any info about the error(s),
Can anyone explain to me what it is, what it means, should I worry about it and how/what do I need to do to fix it.
thanks.
