Alright, the new version is up. The important differences are as follows:
-Maps is no longer included. Get it from the market. This should eliminate all FC issues.
-I'm using P3Droid's kernel by default now. It allows for Wired tethering, as well as wireless. It defaults to 600MHz, so no boot loop issues, but goes up to 1GHz. More of his kernels can be found in the OP.
-I've included a skinned HTC_IME keyboard by default. You can enable it by long pressing any text entry field and 'select input', then 'touch input'. IMO, it looks really nice. Credits will be posted in the OP for the creator.
-I yanked the black Mms.apk from Cyanogenmod. It's the default program with a dark background, as well as custom notifications, etc. Eliminates the need for Handcent for me, at least (no pop-up though, if you need that).
I think that's it...
*Screenshots have been updated for the new keyboard and mms
do I need to Wipe data/cache ETC to install over your 1st version?
okay so how do you back your TXT messages?? using default program currently
Man this ROM is excellent. This set-up is exactly what i need. Plus wired tethering now.....Makes it even better....
I wish there was a way to get some of the features of Koush's Cyanogen ROM incorporated like fullscreen browser, reboot option, etc. But having said that, I have to say that so far, I like this build better than Cyanogen. It is wicked fast and has almost everything I want in a ROM...again, great work!
yeah I agree but I also liked the 270 and 360 rotate options too from Koush
Also RE: Titanium, I never realized it backed up the messages
Fab you should get this added on ROM Manager like Jrummy's (the selection for Jrummy is there nothing beyond it yet though)

Fab, My BB v0.8 has been running so well that I haven't made the jump to ESE81 yet -- but I'm going to this evening, with your "new goodies" ROM, because I'm hearing such "fabolous" things about it!
One question, which I didn't see asked before in this thread: your instructions say to rename to update.zip and install with SPRecovery. Is there any reason you know of that I can't use ROM Manager's "Install ROM from SD Card" without renaming and without using SPRecovery? (I have ClockworkMod Recovery installed now -- and I know it's not a big deal to flash SPRecovery, but if I can skip some steps without any detrimental effects, I'd like to do that.)
Thanks for testing with Clockwork recovery Jeff. I was pretty sure it would work, but I didn't want to make any promises
I'm still a little late to the CM recovery party![]()
Hello all....I came up with a Weather Widget clock theme for this ROM. Hope you all like it.
Download: nex_clock.zip
How to install:
1. Download .zip file and save to your Weather Widget skin folder
2. Install the skin!
