Root NexTheme ESE81 R3 Release (4/21/10) - New Goodies!

Ok i reinstalled the 1ghz kernel from p3. And my phone is still only going 600! Anyone have any ideas?

Hey guys! I have now been running this rom for 5 days now without any major issues (knock on wood:D). Fab you've outdone yourself! So, thought I would find out what kernals you're using. Don't get me wrong, the P3 kernal worked fine, but I'm always trying to find that great combo! Currently I'm running Jake's r18 version (1.2 Ghz) that comes with his new rom. It runs fairly cool (moderate use 90-95, high use never above 107). Now I haven't tried it with navigation yet. Anyway, just thought I'd chime in:D!

I included the p3droid kernel because it supports wired tethering and is low voltage.

I've heard of Jake's kernels but don't know too much about them. Do they support wired tethering too?

Yes, they do support both wired and wireless thethering. However, I 'm not too sure if its low volt or not! Sorry, AD is going through some revamps where the dev is. His name is Boostscoob over "there". Not seeing too much of a difference though. Also, I'm not encouraging anyone to change kernals! Just if you have, let me know how its working. I don't want Fab to get a million emails over this! :D

My favorite combination with the NexBeat ROMs is the AdamZ LV 1GHz kernel (I have the full PDAnet so I just use that for tethering). Super fast, stable, and INCREDIBLE battery life. After about two hours of straight phone calls yesterday and tons of playing games and internet browsing over 3G, I finally saw the 15% warning for the first time at 1:00AM after I had taken the phone off the charger at 7:30 that morning.

This is the only ROM I've actually kept on my phone for more than a week.

I have fantastic battery life, but i have a aweful glitch that crashes my phone on remount of SD card.. I had it happen with one of petes older roms as well.

Very, very strange.

Best thing I can think of is to boot into recovery:

adb shell
format DATA:
format CACHE:
format SYSTEM:
format BOOT:

and then install.

I am having similar issues I think. When I restart the phone it makes it to the lock screen and when it appears to be mounting the SD card it goes into a boot loop. Sometimes I can stop it if I use the slider and make it to the home screen. I just did a re-install and wiped everything as shown above. Other than that when the phone makes it past boot it is extremely stable and fast.

I had a weird issue today with this rom (love it, btw). ALL of my widgets stopped working. Were the widget should be it said "Problem Loading Widget". No idea what caused it, but clearing all the widgets (throwing them in trash) and then replacing them seems to have worked...I'll update if it happens again...

**EDIT** Just in case it matters, I wiped everything before I installed the Rom (a few days ago). Data/Cache/etc...

I installed NexTheme ESE81 R2 Release yesterday, and have been testing it. Everything is great so far. Thanks for a great add-on for the Droid.

I was testing the different desktops, and inadvertently set home as the default, how can I get back to having a choice, without reinstalling it?

Thanks!

Use the app 'home switcher' or manually go into application management, filter all, and clear defaults for home.

Thanks for the quick and helpful reply. I just got Verizon and my new Motorola Droid yesterday, and it is completely different already. I never imagined a phone could be such a powerful little tool.
I've rooted it, overclocked it, and did so many mods in just the first 24 hours. My ole Blackjack II was a kids toy compared to this.
It is totally awesome. Thanks to people such as yourself.

Mike

I wiped and installed again and have the same boot loop issue on a restart. I really like the ROM so I'll have to try the next update.

Haha, not possible man. But there is a very buggy version of the Sense UI ROM floating around alldroid if you want to try it.

@fab

is it possible to include the sense UI in this rom?

Awsome job Fab. Love the speed and not laggy at all. I only have three screens not five also when i go into RM it says Current Rom: (blank). No biggy really not sure if this is right or wrong but no problems for once.

I just unzipped the file, added in Helix Launcher 2 as a system app, removed the other launchers and some other programs I never use, wiped, reinstalled, and now this ROM is FLYING and is tuned exactly how I want it. Again, great job! This is the best ROM I've used yet.

Fab - nice work
Your kernel works well - I only have two minor issues:

One is when I am switching wallpapers (with android system not with term. em) or sometimes when I am responding to a handcent popup, the wallpaper will go to your stock one.

Moreso, I need to know if anyone else is having a hard time getting the phone to manually sleep? I tap the power button like I normally do 100 times a day, and nothing happens.
Let me know, as I would like to be able to sleep it manually.

I think this is remedied by going into Spare Parts, and changing the 'end button' behavior to sleep.

Hey Fab, just a bit of feedback. This has never happened to me before, but I went to wake my phone and it wouldn't come up. I tried to longhold on the power button...No Dice...Plugged in a charger (from an outlet, not PC) and nothing. Had to do a battery pull and then plug the charger back in before it worked. No biggie really, but it hasn't happened with any other rom...

**EDIT** When it did come back up, I still had 50% power....

Truth be told, I doubt it's your rom, and was just a hardware bug or something, but I thought I'd bring it up in case any others encounter the problem...

Cheers on a great rom!

I am curious about what the phone dialer looks like with this ROM? I have noticed that a lot of the dark themes use dark buttons for the dialer, which makes it harder to see to dial outside during the daytime.

Got it

That's not bad. I could wish for it being brighter but it's not as bad as my UD 9.0 ROM....though I actually suspect my theme got jacked up, because I have no "button" background at all around the numbers on my dialer.

I will flash this and check it out when I get home tonight.
