Battery life on the current gen phones is leaps and bounds better than my gnex. Its a day and night difference.

I don't see battery life being an issue with the n5

How pathetic is this. Ive a couple of times today caught myself refreshing the Play Devices page in my browser.:o:D

I got it...

It's gotta be 12pm noon today.

We have inserted in our app "Nexus 5 Hype" a article about the nexus 5 with the 12PM theory photo.

Best regards

It appears to be an event for the new play store
Really Google?! Everyone knows KitKat and the Nexus 5 are due out any day now and you're going to have a press event solely for the Play Store? Why wouldn't you include that in the event for everything else?

OK we have all these Nexus leaks....even the packaging. So this event is just going to be about the play store? This doesn't make any sense whatsoever. Pure trolling at its finest.

As one of the commentors on droid life said, Google has never had back to back events in a short period of time. So either, this IS it or its just going to be released on the Play Store soon...I hope. This is dropping in October right?

My "uneducated" guess is that they will probably revel it on the 24th and will come out on Halloween on the 31st exactly 1 week after. Still not to far from the count down and goes great with a kit Kat candy bar.

Gotta say I'm kinda confused here. The updates on the Geek.com article concerning the event on the 24th make it look like Geek.com's source AND Google is personally contacting them to clarify that this isn't a Nexus release. Is Google surprised that this event needed to be clarified as an "educational" event only? They had to have known that anything they do AT ALL is going to be looked at as possibly linked to the Nexus and/or Kit Kat. I mean honestly, we're looking for numbers and symbols in images everyday in the hopes of finding some sort of crazy link to a launch date and you go ahead and schedule an actual event and then act like "woah woah woah don't freak out people."

I'm wondering when they'll send out the press invites if the event is next Thursday. Would they go out Monday?

I'm puzzled about all this talk about battery not being sufficient.

If it's packing 2300mAh along with all the optimizations that 4.4 will likely bring I'm still wondering about what the issue is.

The Moto X has been lauded for it's battery life, yet is only 2200mAh.

Why should we expect the Nexus 5 to be worse? Sure, I'd love 3000, but if I can get through my day on a charge then I'll be happy.

Moto X has an AMOLED screen, lower resolution, half as many cores running at a lower clock speed, and specific energy efficient cores for specific tasks.

Nexus 5 will be MUCH more power hungry, yet with a tiny increase in battery capacity. There are also no indications that 4.4 has any specific battery saving features. Look back at the Nexus 4 and Optimus G, they both had the exact same specs, but the Optimus G got better battery life despite it running LGs skin AND LTE. Judging from that, stock Android isn't very energy efficient.

Too many unknowns right now. But with a 2300 mAh battery, don't expect anything crazy.

Except for things that aren't time-based tasks. Like video games.

True, and I guess that matters IF you care about gaming. That said, certain games can kill even a Note 2 in two-three hours, so battery capacity is going to be not so great regardless of mah.
