Nexus 5 Pre-Release/Speculation Thread

Even if it's clocked higher, the Snapdragon 800 chipset is much more power efficient than the Snapdragon 400 chipset. Will battery life match the G2, absolutely not. But I agree that I think it's going to be much better than most are expecting. I have little doubt that most will make it all day with 4-5 hours of screen time if not more. Plus this unlocked bootloader will allow custom kernels for underclocking/undervolting if you need to squeeze more life out, unlike certain other devices with locked bootloaders. ;)

Someone on XDA is claiming that a CSR from UK carrier EE is saying October 28th release. Extra salt with this rumor since we all know how reliable carrier representitives are.

The 28th is one of the dates that we've been hearing about for a while now. I forgot with all of the theories out there, is there any specific reason this one keeps coming up?

Whatever the date, you are all going to be "very happy" with this phone.

Lil Gnex pre-release thread humor revisited. Nothing to see here. :D

Just had an interesting convo with a Verizon rep on the phone. I called to get the details of my family plan turning into an individual plan when I cancel and change carriers (my sister is staying on) and figure out the ETF price.

When she asked why I was switching, I told her because VZW wasn't going to carry the Nexus 5. She said she hadn't heard that they weren't going to carry it and tried to look through emails to see if she had anything as far as info and/or release dates. She didn't (shocker) but she did say that she was scheduled for a class for the Nexus 5 next week.

Who knows with these people, I'm sure they'll say almost anything to get me to stay. I probably could have told her I was upset because they weren't going to carry the Quantum Deluxe S2 and she would have told me that she remembered seeing something on it before. Just thought I'd share!

Exactly this. In fact, I would try that same call and make up a more realistic name and I bet you'd get the same BS half the time.

To all of these supposed "leaks":

*crosses fingers*

dont forget project roadrunner, which may make an appearance for the first time. The rumored feature which we wouldn't see but was to deliver optimization to android to finally get really good battery life.
there is no user facing stuff for roadrunner so if it was in 4.4 the leaks wouldn't be able to reveal its existence... at least not easily.

I've heard "project road runner" was a bust. A rumor based on nothing real.

Agreed. The HTC One, with the Snap 600 and same battery capacity, manages that comfortably (without underclocking or unfervolting), so there's no reason a Snap 800 device can't.

Project roadrunner was a made up hoax that the press ran with...based on no facts.

Nexus 5 will have a larger backlight. And typically screen takes up the number 1 spot in battery stats.

Just put my Nexus 4 on eBay this morning! It was extremely hard to do and I'll have to use my old HTC Inspire until the Nexus 5 comes out :'(

You might want to wait a while your, nex5 order could get backlogged ,unless you trying to maximize on the sell price getting rid of your nex4 is too soon...

Trying to get more money for it.

Edit. I canceled it. Lol I forgot how much I hate that HTC inspire.. That and I love this phone too damn much..

I keep trying to sell my S3, but always end up backing out because I can't be on the gnex for another month til the N5

I'm in training for the Nexus 5 release.

Routine: Consume 1 Kit Kat Candy Bar daily.

I don't give a flip if it makes a difference, but it sure does taste good :D
