Nexus 7 2013 5.0 Rollout

Not experiencing any issues with 5.0. I unlocked the bootloader, used fastboot to flash the image, relocked bootloader.

Yes. There has been no word on an update for my LTE tablet, and there is no official firmware image available for download.
Yet all the other Nexus devices have it.

It's administered over the air and I'm unable to tell you exactly when you'll get it. But, once it's available, you'll be prompted to update it.

No, there isn't. Like I mentioned, it is taking time. I haven't gotten my update either, yet my friend has. It just is going to take time.

That's the thing. I expect that OTA updates are rolled out over a period of time. The issue is that devices that have OTA coming at least have the firmware available here: https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images
There is no firmware for the N7 LTE, Google is holding out.

If you can't give me any further information, that's fine. However, please relay to your superiors that as a customer of the top-of-the-line N7 and a long-time supporter of Google, I am very dissappointed that myself, and many other N7 LTE users, are being left out on the update.

Calm down, you'll get the update. I can't remember one android software update that didn't work this way. Luck of the draw as to who receives it first.
 
I think you're missing the point too. The official images are posted to the Nexus factory image site before OTAs begin. It's not a matter of me waiting for the OTA to come. There's just simply no factory lollipop firmware for N7 LTE yet.
 
Are many others still waiting for Android 5 on their Nexus 7 WiFi model? It still has not arrived on my 2013 edition tablet. I have lurked here for a while before asking. This is unusually late for a Nexus device and I agree with TheAmazingDave it is especially concerning there is not yet even available for download for those that have the LTE version. I would consider loading it manually on my WiFi model, but do not want to wipe out my data.
 
Still waiting for the OTA for WiFi only versions of both a N7 2012 and a N7 2013. No problem.

Perhaps the update will OTA to your device this week or next. I just flashed my Nexus 7 2013 model with the factory image as soon as it became available. I didn't mind wiping everything since I have multiple Android devices.

The LTE versions are most likely undergoing testing with the carrrier, getting bloatware, etc. I can understand why it takes a little longer for those versions(more than one hand in the pot).

You don't have to wipe your data. You can side load the ota update. I personally wiped and flashed the factory image. The people who do that seem not to be plagued with all the problems that the people who did ota have. But there are many, many people who did the ota who did not have problems. They just don't post about it. Major updates always have this controversy, its common. To keep my important stuff I just put it in my download folder and copied that to my PC. Then I flashed the factory image (which wipes everything) then copied the folder back to my nexus. I did have to re install and set up my apps, but you should do that. Keeping app data from the old os causes problems. The ota update attempts to modify your app data to be comparable without wiping it, but I think that's why a few people have had problems. When they create an update they can't anticipate every single setup on thousands and thousands of tablets. For the most part the ota should work fine, but not 100% of them will. My bet, 90% or so probably went fine, but 10% is still enough for google to stop the push and make some changes. Which is what it appears they have done. That's why the initial update always comes in smaller batches. So if there are problems, only a small percentage will be affected. Then they can make the necessary changes and start pushing it out again. Hope this helps.
Oh yeah, if your not familiar with adb sideloading the ota you can use wugfresh nexus root toolkit to do it for you.
 
I am really at a loss as to why people get so up in arms if they don't get the latest update right away. Is your Nexus still working? Did it cease working until you get Lollipop? If this isn't the case, then stop being a child and just wait. I haven't gotten it either yet and it isn't something I give any thought to.

In some ways I'm with you. My N7 is fine and still working perfectly. Alternatively, a lot of folks have purchased a Nexus for the promise of having the latest updates immediately. That's part of the Nexus mystique and should be part of the expectation.
 
I agree Unforgiven - really love my N7. I posted to this community of which I have been a member for several years to verify others are also waiting for the latest and greatest OS. Thanks to the members who wrote informative responses. :)
 
I only got my Nexus 7 (2013) WiFi recently. (Woot special.) I'm OK with waiting if I know what's going to happen. Should I expect that even on a WiFi only model it will just miraculously decide to update some day when The Googles(tm) decide it's time? (My Nexus 5 did that, but I don't know if that's at all dependent on having a WAN radio in it which my Nexus 7 does not.)

I just want to know if there's anything special/different I have to do on a WiFi only device other than wait for His Holiness Andy to descend upon my device in the middle of the night...

You can wait patiently for the OTA update, or you can download the firmware and flash it yourself. Firmware can be had here:

Nexus 7 2013 WiFi is device "razor" while the LTE version is "razorg."

It's not like the LTE version where there has been no firmware upgrade at all, either through manual flash or OTA.
 
From what I'm reading about the update, I hope I never get it. Too many issues. I'll just live without it until 5.1 or 5.5 or something. Don't need new issues that will destroy my tablet like KitKat destroyed my Droid Maxx.
 
My wife has the Nexus 7 (2012) it updated to Lollipop and was really buggy. I did a factory reset, it reinstalled lollipop, pulled the apps from backup and runs like a top. So, a clean install may be the answer. My 2013 alas has not gotten the update yet.
 
Still waiting for this lollipop update. I think iOS 9 will be out before I see this update. I'm planning on getting a new phone since my droid Maxx bit the big one recently. That being said, I hope the note 4 doesn't take this long once I get it as the nexus 7 2013 wifi edition. I'm aware of Google being cautious but this is ridiculous. Has it been out a month yet? I keep checking and it keeps saying my device is up to date. I'm beginning to think lollipop is nothing more than an urban legend.
 
5.0 was released on Nov 12th. You can flash the Nexus with the factory image, if you don't want to wait for the OTA. You will lose all of your data by flashing.

Perhaps there were some bugs found in the OS and Google is working those out before continuing the OTA. Just be patient. 5.0 is a great upgrade, but a lot apps aren't optimized yet.
