What do you like or dislike about the Google Nexus 7?

Won't delete it ;), just moved it to the Nexus 7 forum. Thanks for understanding :)

Not a whole lot to dislike about the Nexus 7, except for the epidemic of screen seperation.

Thanks! And yeah....I hope that isn't an issue on down the road

As for me...

Yes the screen separation is definitely annoying, and I went through a few 7's already, I think it was pretty wide spread.

One other thing that does annoy me is that the screen temp on these things varies so much from device to device. One is warm white, one is cool white, one is yellowish white, one will be right in the middle...lol!

I mean seriously, I've seen this minimally on phones before, especially on the iPhone. But I really believe Samsung got it right, my S3 is the same as my ladies, and pretty much the same as anyone else I know with the phone.

The 7 has an LCD screen, it should just be a nice bright white...not blue, not yellow, not pink, white! Hmmm, I may be asking to much from ASUS....LOL

I really dislike the build quality. Went through four of them just to keep the one with little screen separation. Selling a tablet for "only" $200 isn't an excuse to have defects on the production line.

As for the software side, the "project butter" isn't as smooth as it seems. Even without any launchers I get lag when swiping through the homescreen that has 2 small widgets after minimizing the currently used app.

There's audio delay when using my bluetooth headset. This bug is weird as YouTube, Doggcatcher and the Google Music and Movie app have none yet everything else does have a delay. Keyboard sound clicks, movies, and games have audio delay which really irks me.

Also the unresponsive screen after being fully charged is pretty annoying and although this uses a "universal" serial bus connection to charge, it's very picky on which usb charging devices will work in charging the N7.

It would've been nice if there was a setting or app to move the soft keys to the left or right side when in landscape mode or maybe my thumbs are just too small.

Despite its faults and horrible customer service, there is a lot I like about the N7. I think the dimensions are perfect as a GPS device, a book and magazine reader and playing games as I feel the iPad is too bulky to lug around. Google Chrome gives the best web browsing experience I've ever had on a mobile device (Safari is terrible!) and from what other android users say, it isn't even the best browser on Android!

My wife is happy we don't have to pay a home phone bill as we were able to transfer our home phone number to Google Voice. Integration with all the Google services I use has been great and is probably why I'll never use iOS once my iPhone contract is up. Widgets are awesome. No need to convert movies just drag and drop, and a little tinerking with the app, makes it the my favorite media consumption device.

No complaints from me... my N7 is my tablet of choice. Really just browse the web and read ebooks on it. Some youtube too.

For me the N7 is perfect. Kinda. My only gripe like many others is the screen issue. I dropped and broke the screen on my first one. I thought it broke far too easily but I have to accept full responsibility. I do live in fear of the second one separating or cracking for no real reason like many others have had happen. I bought a 2 year Square Trade warranty that covers drops and spills just to cover me.

If you want a real headache try typing in yahoo mail ... spell checking and trying to correct a word will drive you nuts! Actually trying to paste in this forum is a trick too! on the other hand google mail works like a dream dot dot dot you think they are trying to tell us something?

Nothing that deserves a rant! Now and again I find my screen not as responsive and I have to switch the screen off and on. That's about it. USB otg replaces sdcards for me.

The screen separation issue - the sd card would have been a great addition -

Other than that the tablet is just fine for me!!!!

I really wish more of the apps would be updated to be able to be compatible with the device, like Gangstar Rio was on sale for.99 cents but our device isnt compatible, :(

A few app incompatibilities (Tivo for Tablets crashes) and a sd card slot would have been nice though I don't miss it nearly as much as I thought I would. I find the power button a little hard to find at times too. These are very minor nit picks for what I view as a splendid product. Oh, and no screen separation here! This was my third tablet (Viewsonic gTablet and Nook Tablet) and the previous two aren't in the same ballpark as the N7, heck, their not even on the same planet! For Android based tablets, this is the bellwether device!

Most apps that are claimed not to work, work just fine. Just side load the game and see if it works. I have done this with 4 apk's now, and only one of them has the stretched phone screen look. All the rest work perfectly.

But back on topic: SD Card, Flash Player option, and inductive charging (the HP Touchstone equivalent). These would have been nice.

I'll try that!

There are a few apps that I use daily on my S3 that don't work on my Nexus 7...namely Sirius Radio, and the CBS 1010 wins app...
Hope they get those working...

The central location of the soft keys annoyed me - I kept hitting "home" when I went for the space bar. I've rooted and used an app to set the dpi to 200 and this forces a tablet UI which puts the soft keys to the bottom left of the screen and the notification bar to the bottom right - much more useful for me.

My only complaint is size of font on Amazon Appstore app. No way to increase it. I actually use the browser to look at Amazon so I can pinch zoom, but it's not as quick as the app. Most all other apps can have font size adjusted. So I guess this is more an Amazon gripe, not really the N7's fault (but a universal zoom button would be real nice).

Love my Nexus 7, knew about the SD card before I bought mine so it isnt an issue, no doubt the developers will sort out the apps that are not working on this Kindle killer before too long
