Root No Google Play icon??? :::RANT:::

Android Expert
I have flashed Deck's Reloaded two days ago and I'm having *many* issues!

Currently:

1. I have lost my Google Play/Market icon
2. I have an app that WILL NOT open/load. "Manage Applications" does not show it but Google Pplay says it is installed? NO, it's NOT!
3. Google Voice - a whole other story! (Not sure I can even explain what has happened there! (JUST NOW I received a BUSINESS call that I COULDN'T FRICKIN ANSWER BECAUSE IT WANTS ME TO PRESS "1".)
4. (Nothing comes to mind right AT THIS MOMENT but I'll bet there will be something in a little while!)

I'm already missing my smooth running CM7.1 ROM and may be forced to go back to it. I really want to try other ROMs but this is NOT a good thing to do if your life depends on a 'working', mobile communication device!

Just venting...ok, I think I'll have a ... cigarette - AND I DON'T EVEN SMOKE :banghead:

As far as your google voice goes, I don't know because I dont use it.

As far as your missing icon and app not loading, did that happen after you made a nandroid backup? :frown:

Yes. I may have accidentally found the remedy for this dillema...

I dropped it and the battery had to be placed back in. When it rebooted, it was as if I were booting up for the first time after a ROM flash. The little finger points to the little android guy and says "Touch here to Begin". So I went through the setup process, ie linking my accounts to the phone etc. Then the Market icon magically reappeared, and was able to snag the lost app from the market and reload it.

Glad it's working again...the reason I asked about a nandroid backup was because this morning, like I do every 2 weeks or so, is make a backup. When I rebooted I had that little android guy etc...got into home screen and WHAM, apps force closing everywhere! even Terminal Emulator would force close...got back into recovery, wipe cache, dalvik, and fix uid mismatches....reboot and all is peachy now...:)

Nope. That didn't do it either...

Still getting..."This call is from an unknown caller....press "1" to accept, press "2" to send to voicemail..."

I gotta get this fixed or I'm gonna have to do a nandroid back to before flashing Deck's Reloaded..

I just don't understand how it can't recognize callers because they are in my Contacts and that is linked to my Google accts....

Stumped

This is a known issue with people who use GV and integrate with their Sprint number. Log onto a desktop and go to voice.google.com and it's a setting you can change. I don't think you can handle it from the app.

I have had similar problems with my Google Play. I moved Play to my SD card via Titainium Back Pro to free up more space on the phone. And now everytime I open Play and try to update an app it forces closed on me. I have tried wiping cashe and that did not help. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

Is your SD card partitioned? Moving the apps 1 by one does not move the entire app. It is not suggested to move apps this way.

Move Google play back to the internal phone drive and see if that fixes the problems.

If you are running out of room on your device partitioning the SD card will move all of your apps to the SD card and will open up tons of space on the phone (250+MB). You need to have a class 6 or higher SD card to do it though.

When I re-installed Play I left it on the phone and it still force closes.

I'll have to check the class on the card I just put in a couple weeks ago. But that doesn't solve my problem.

Thanks Rxpert, been wanting to partition now you've motivated me to get it done. I need to order a card (micro SD, right?) from Amazon first.
I see that it needs to be at least class 6. How many gigs is good for the average user? 8? 16?

Try fixing permissions then go to settings, apps, all and find play store. Clear data and try it again.

Where can I find recovery if I cannot use ROM Manager? I can't download another because Play closes on me.
Probably the easiest way is to either:
Long press power and choose recovery from the list that pops up or,
Shutdown phone, hold down the volume down while pressing power, which will bring you to hboot, then high light recovery and press power.

Now I'm in ClockworkMod Recovery. What next?
