No more 1 yr contracts!!

I have been a Verizon customer for a long time but this really makes me mad enough to switch. Their money grab recently has been remarkable.

I just got my tb and was excited that I only had to have it for a year. This is the first time I have gotten the one year contract and was happy that I would be able to do this in the future. Booo Verizon

This will be a bad move for Verizon. I will be looking to switch if this goes into affect. My bill runs about 254 per month and that is money they will be missing out on.

Hopefully the manufacturers will start selling unlocked custom to order phones for us if this goes live. This will open up Google to start selling phones like they did the Nexus one. I have me a sim card from the TB and I can stick that in future phones.

That wont work the sim card in the tb is just for 4g its not like the gsm sim cards.

Will be shopping competitors. Verizon has made themselves more unattractive as a consumer lately. Sure they have a fast network, but I have turn turn it off in order to save phone battery anyway. It's nothing I want to pay more (or alter my buying habits) in order to have.

Well thanks a lot, Verizon. If I knew the Verizon-Evo would come out around the same time you would bastardize your entire system, I would have just gone to Sprint when the original Evo came out...

Maybe I will just switch now.

I knew the day Verizon let Apple into their bed that it would be terrible for all of us. Now my fears have been confirmed. First they get rid of NE2 discounts, then the whole replacement phone issue, now no more 1 year contracts?? Why Verizon couldn't make all these exclusions just for the iPhone is beyond me. That's why all these changes have been made, why punish all of us? I've been with VZW for 10 years and will seriously consider switching 11/12 when I'm due for an upgrade on my line. Enough is enough already

this is what happens when the competition gets less and less. it will get even worse when ATT takes over T mobile. Verizon will probably follow in the foot steps of ATT. I might be taking my business to sprint. Who cares Wimax is fast enough to stream shit.

I see so many threads about people saying they are going to switch to another carrier. Go ahead, get off my network, more bandwidth for me!

Just kidding, but seriously, where are you going to go? T-mobile? Your kidding?, their service is the worst in the country. I've got a signal booster from them in all of my clubs because of their horrible service (at least in sfla) Sprint? Good luck with their wimax building penetration= horrible signal indoors. There's a reason they have the least amount of subscribers... And AT&T? If you like dropped calls, slow 3g service, and consistently releasing outdated phones, (besides the iPhone) then be my guest. If This AT&T merger buyout T-Mobile actually happens without government intervention then now you will only have 3 major carriers to choose. Verizon is the only company with a roadmap right now closest to real 4G. If you're a Verizon customer and are thinking about leaving, you can only head south...

It does suck, because now the only option is Sprint unless you want to go to drop call central aka AT&Tmobile

Im done with verizon after this. With all the trouble I have had with them in the last year I will be switching to att or sprint on 3/17/12 or sooner.

Who cares? I never planned on leaving anyway. To go where? One yr,two yrs. Doesn't mean squat to me. I always get a phone I like. My bill is low with five people on the plan. I think people get bent to easy. But to each their own.

ditto here. come 1 year from now, there will be plenty to choose from!

That sucks, I guess the lure of the almighty dollar wins again. This won't cause me to leave Verizon, even though I have done single year contracts in the past.

The thing that will keep me with Verizon for the foreseeable future is they are the only carrier that really works where I live. All the others (ATT, Sprint, T-mobile, et al.) have crappy reception at best. until that changes I am pretty much over a barrel.

Not a big deal for me. They got rid of the new every two for new promotions they are doing. I got a TB today with a coupon they sent me to upgrade early for 149.99. I haven't even had my droid x for a full year and was able to do this. I've had my fair share of problems with Verizon in the past. But they have been getting better imho.

This totally sucks!!! Have been a VZW customer for years with 5 lines on a family plan. Bought the TB on a 1 year plan for the first time thinking that I will be buying all phones from now on with a 1 year contract that way we can get the latest phones. Boy, what a surprise....

Well hopefully AT&Tmobile will have there act together by early 2012 I will port to them, I'm not doing 2 year contracts anymore. It looks like Verizon will be history for me next year.

The TB was the first phone I ever bought with a 1 yr contract. I was really looking forward to using 1 yr contracts from here on in too. This isn't a deal breaker for us since I get a nice discount from my job. Also, my family and a lot of my good friends all have VZW and the unlimited mobile to mobile allows us to get the cheapest family voice plans and text plans ($10). I just hate all the changes that have made w/in just this year! Sigh.

I may be missing something, but what difference does it make? On a monthly basis, the cost of a 1 year contract is the same as a 2 year contract... Yea, you're locked in for double that amount on a 2 year contract, but aren't you just renewing at the end of the year anyway on a 1 year contract??? And it's more likely to happen that within those 2 years, VZW will increase their pricing plans... so if you're on a 1 year contract, wouldn't you wind up paying more?

So the atrix is outdated? And what about the other phones at&t is going to get soon. And no I'm not a fanboy just at&t's phone lineup is getting better since they lost exclusivity of the iphone.

Its because with a 1 year you can upgrade every year and as fast as these phones become outdated thats why. Not to mention most likely you will be grandfathered into the current plan you have ala unlimited data.
