BSTFREEMSG Starting 1/20 Mnthly Unltd plans will offer 2.5GB/mo of full speed data & will slow to 3G speeds of 256kbps for cont'd use.
What's happening?
Starting on or about 1/20/13, Monthly Unlimited plans will offer 2.5GB/month of full speed network data but will slow to 3G speeds of 256kbps for continued data use after 2.5GB. If network data speeds are slowed, they will restore to full 3G/4G speeds as soon as your next monthly plan cycle starts. If you purchased a Mobile Hotspot add-on, your data usage is measured from a combined total use of phone and Mobile Hotspot usage.
Will it affect me?
It depends. First, keep in mind that 2.5GB per month is a lot of wireless network data and we anticipate that only a small percentage of Boost subscribers will actually reach that. To give you an idea, it's about 400,000 Mobile Internet page views, about 90,000 emails (without attachments), 91 hours of streaming music or 20 hours of video clips, in a month*. Also, this data is measured only when you're on a mobile network, not when connected to a Wi-Fi connection. So if you primarily use your device while connected to a Wi-Fi connection, you may not be impacted.
How will I know how much data I've used?
You will receive warning notifications via text message. First, when you reach 85% of the 2.5GB full speed data threshold. And then, once you reach the 2.5GB threshold. Again, most people may not ever receive those warnings since we anticipate it will only impact a small percentage of our subscribers.
What happens once I've slowed?
If you're part of the small minority of subscribers who reach the 2.5GB threshold, you will continue to have access to data but your data speeds will be slowed to 3G speeds of 256kbps for the remainder of your monthly plan cycle. This may result in slower page loads, file downloads and streaming media.** Full speeds will return at the beginning of your next monthly plan cycle.
However, even if slowed, this will not impact or affect your ability to make phone calls or send text messages from your phone.

*Measured data usage per activity is based on an average consumption and usage. Actual bandwidth may vary by website, video and email content, or other Internet application
**Data speeds are subject to geographic location.
