Do I need HTCsync? because it doesn't even recognize my phone being plugged in. How do I know if the SDK version is updated to r11 like it says on the HTCdev site?

yes i would definitely get htc sync installed on your computer. also i think the sdk is now on r16.

I'm fighting back as hard as I can to not go on a raging rant about how shitty apple is, but it isnt illegal to jailbreak an ipad/pod/phone. Its called a jailbreak because you are breaking the product out of the "walled garden" jail that apple keeps its products in.
THey have gone to court over the matter (with their own customers...... how dumb) of jailbreaking and apple lost. Customers are allowed to do it.
Android have the same sort of 1-click root method that the i-community has. The difference is that the EVO's 1-click root methods have been closed off by HTC (apple does the same thing, thats why you have to update itunes allllllll the time). No devs want to invest time to find a new exploit for such an old device to make it a 1-click process when HTC has given us an approved method.
