Root Not receiving phone calls or texts anymore

FYI....Took mine in this morning. They ran it through some steps on the computer and a few in the ##3282# menu and then something uploaded to the phone . The speed tests seem to be coming back with better results but who knows. They mentioned they have had to do this for many many phones lately

Oh....and phone was taken in rooted s off...super user in app list with eng bootloader and they said nothing. Was running a stock dodexed Rom tho.

Interesting. It does seem like a lot of people are having to do this. Funny that they said that. slimbobaggins, let us know if this fixes your problem too. That'll certainly be something to add to the information bank. I'd still recommend you unroot if you have to take it in. Mr. Ed likes to to live on the dangerous side :p (but yeah, they tend to not care *that* much).

well..they never even got into the phone other than the advanced menu and rolling through a few menus....I am still not convinced that they did anything more than running the latest software update directly to the phone.

I asked if it would include the streaming audio fix and he said yes, but when I checked all of the proxy setting were still there.

so, just to be on the safe side, i unrooted and then took the phone in today. phone was fine, they just had to reactivate it on the network, and all is well!

Many thanks for all the assistance!

Myn!!

lol

well, i tried Fresh, but i am experiencing ungodly slow 3G speeds, so I just did a restore back to the stock rom hoping to fix it, and it's still horribly slow. never had this problem before. i can still receive calls and texts tho, so it's not the same issue.

ungodly slow, as in can't even load the market home page because it times out. took like 15 minutes to sync gmail, and almost as long to load google's homepage in the browser. this is after updating prl and profile::sigh::

Ive noticed a lot of people having issues with 3g speeds lately. I doubt it is the ROM, so once you fix it, try fresh out again. It is a fantastic rom. I have a nandroid of it layin around somewhere. All my friends that have evos love Myns too. Give them both a try.

And, as most other people are saying, try a PROFILE update in settings.
I mentioned that in another thread. I have had problems with my, and my friends 3g speeds, and i just always do a profile update after any rom or nandroid flash.
It re-syncs your phone and the towers connection or something like that idk :p
But i read it is good to do after a new rom/radio/anything big like that.
Also, doing it cant hurt anything. So update away.
Just DONT do the the software update.. run from that, like joseph back in egypt. Lol

welp... did everything that those threads suggested, no success. The best I can manage is 113kbps download/ 138kbps upload with a 700+ ping... so I guess I'm unrooting again, and taking it back to the shop. Good grief, I went rooted on the stock rom for so long, now nothing but problems...

Yeah, that seems to be the case for several people, lately. The good news is that most of those who took the phone in to sprint had the issue resolved.

i hope so. when i took it in the other day to get it fixed, i didn't think to test the 3G, i assumed it was fixed because i was able to receive phone calls and texts. later on when i was installing stuff, it was over wifi. so i might have had this problem from the get-go and not known it

I should have a new Evo sitting on my front porch when I get home from work today! Sprint couldn't fix my 3G problem so they're sending me a new one. Of course, I don't know if this is really new, or a rebuild, but it'll be new to me.

Got my new Evo activated today, works great... kinda scared to root it now, just because I've finally got a working phone...

congrats on getting a brand new evo!!!!!!

i vote that you root it. you have to try mikfroyo 4.5 and some of the others that are based off of it (koni elite and kings ultra froyo unleashed). i'm like me some kings ultra froyo unleashed. it is a great rom really smooth and fast. it is also small so that you have a lot of internal memory to use. hopefully you won't have any of the problems you had at the beginning of this thread.

believe you me, i want to root it... my hesitation is if i break it again, sprint is going to get very suspicious...

i really miss rooted battery life already though... and being able to freeze all the crapware on the phone

i understand your hesitation, but, to be honest it is pretty hard to actually brick your phone. there are always a work around to any particular problem. the only issue that i see is that if you loose your wimax keys and thus you cannot get 4g because of it. but as long as you make nandroid with wimax keys you are good to go. as you found out this forum is great on getting any kind of help if you need it.

now that you have a new phone everything is up to date making rooting that much easier. but rooting is up to you, i can't make you do it. all i can say is that i'm addicted and a flashaholic!
