Not to be sexist, but...

I just talked with my cousin who got a iPhone for X-mas,& she loves my HTC!!!
She wishes she got an Android now, she said it was a gift so she just deals with her CRapple...
:D

Cregslist or try and trade it on here on the classifieds
Her boyfriend has an iPhone, so it was more convenient for him/them, I guess.
He's a big/burly guy who happens to drive a Hummer too. Lol. :D
I guess size does matter, I couldn't believe how much thicker,& heavier the CRapple is over my HTC.
My cousin also raved about my screen, she absolutely loved it.
I may convert her soon.

On a side note, I've seen many girls with shattered iPhone & BB screens.
I'm guessing they don't use gorilla glass on those two devices.

Bahahaha that made me laugh

I laugh @ 1st too, I couldn't believe, a dude the size of a d-end with an iPhone. Lol!!!

I just don't get how people can get by with shattered screens.
Screens are fairly cheap enough to buy, & most people I know Don't charge that much.
Imo its a great excuse to buy an Android!

way to early for imagery like that... without access to ....

btw.. welcome to the AF

Hehe :D
Too soon.
Seiously tho i phones are way over rated . I heard some girls talking about a iphone 5 or some related subject like that . Sounds like apple is trying to keep up since the new ICS came out

unlike what some people are saying, i think you can make certain distinctions based on sex. i think on a broader macro approach more males use android os than an iphone (anecdotal experience is invalid by the way). its simple really.. android is about function over form and iphone is about form over function... and guys are more often than not geeky and into tech, while girls like pretty things.

on a lersonal level, i have to say that the one button thing for the iphone is just confusing. but the iphone is still easier to use because youd have to root and install a custom rom to get your phone running optimally with an android. there are less compatibility issues with an iphone too.

i used the word "think" ... no specific data, but no one really has a scientific poll to post. i do remember reading an article on MSNBC where there were studies, and people with android phones tended to use their data plans more + they are more techy. more people on iphones used less features.

as for preferences between male vs. female, we axiomatically know that women (generally speaking) are more into fashion than tech.. and the opposite for men vs. women.

This comment alone would be a solid basis for saying that more women use Android over the iPhone. Have you ever seen what happens when two women show up to a party wearing the same dress? Now imagine 30 women show up to a party and they are all wearing the same dress.

iPhone users still take the statistical cake for data usage, and I can't axiomatically agree with the premise, living in a world full of women wanting things to just work while surrounded by men wanting credit for the assistance.

Tech Needs More Women | Techi.com

here's my thinking: a main distinction between android and iphone is that android allows the more nerdy/tech-y folks to customize their phone.. we're allowed to do a lot more with androids. the iphone caters to people who want a proper running phone with minimal issues. i just posted a link which shows how more men are in the computer science field than women, which implies that generally speaking, they are more into technology than women. so if men are more into tech and google is more of a tech-y os, then more men *should* be into android.

btw, i've actually read that android phones use up more data than iphone, though there has been no official research on why. there was an article posted by msnbc over a year ago, and it polled people and found that more iphone users tended to be casual data users, knew less about the features in their phone, and just wanted something that had a good "brand name." i can't find it though, since it's so old.

Carrier statistics have been published for months showing that the data culprits are iPhone users. No need of an unscientific poll of phone bills by an analyst for MSNBC to slather out a laughably biased article where the two phone systems can be trotted out as ponies at the fair.

You are entirely entitled to your opinion. Opinions are always valid because they are opinions.

However, unless I am very much mistaken, you seem to be suggesting that if I were to understand your position on technical users better, then I might agree with you. In such a case, I would assure that your position is already understood, and try to point out that you have a bias that you are trying support by making data fit it. For example, I have worked in high tech sectors for quite some time, and the proportion of IT types for those is a drop in the bucket. Another thing that I might point out were you to be trying that is you seem to be not considering the population of iPhone jailbreakers. Nor will your premise explain the cadre of women artists I know who far prefer Android, have no men or technologists helping them along, and who suffer none of the Android setbacks that you claim exist.

The iPhone was the world's largest selling phone for years. Far more than ditzy dames bought them. Now Android has been the biggest seller for years, still is. Far more than clever, IT-savvy strong men have bought them as well.

Your premise has a prima facie flaw, and Android doesn't require a CS degree, even though Balmer says it does.

But those are just my opinions.

You are entirely entitled to your opinion. Opinions are always valid because they are opinions. sprint's CEO has pretty much stated the reason why they offer iphones: because they hog up significantly less data than androids, and that by offering iphones, it would decrease the load on their data network.

where's the link that suggests iphone users eat up more data? because i've never heard of this. in fact, sprint's CEO has stated that iphones hog up significantly less data than androids, which is a reason why they paid so much money for the rights to sell iphones (to ease the strain on their data networks).

i have considered jailbreaking... but there's no way it is comparable to an android. do you really mean to say that using an iphone takes just as much work and time that it does for an android? even if you're not into installing ROMs and unrooting your device, the incompatibility issues are a pain.

your example of "women artists you know who use androids" doesn't really mean anything though. it's anecdotal evidence, which may or may not be true. just because there are many women who own an android doesn't change anything... because i was speaking in general terms.

by the way, if you refer to the link in the second post of this thread, you'll see that nearly 16,000 people were polled. android = 10% more likely to be used by men, and iphone = 18% more likely to be used by women.

I read your link, I ought to have said analyst used by MSNBC.

But in 2011, that reversed and had Android users on average 20% ahead of iPhone users -

Average U.S. Smartphone Data Usage Up 89% as Cost per MB Goes Down 46% | Nielsen Wire

The whole slew of results you are seeing is a repeat of that information.

But noting that 1% of users consume about half the data and given that the blogs and news services have been quite vocal about that imbalance (it's been driving the cell phone rate changes and in the news not infrequently lately) and noting that the iPhone data hogging phenomenon has had great coverage of late, I had unreasonably presumed easy access to that information.

When a population is dominated by the activities of 1% of its members, it's not terribly safe to use averages for analyses.

My sincere apologies for not posting backing data earlier. :)

Just thought I'd toss that data out there.

Aside from the whole who uses the most data thing, it seems to clearly substantiate my claims that women are quite sophisticated in their use of phones, as well as offering other interesting food for thought.

But hey, we're totally nailing making reservations and using streaming media.

So we totally got that going for us. Not too shabby! :D

The tiny differences (as shown by that particular chart/research) highlight something that I've always believed about women/men behavior with everything from phones to TV sets to cars, etc: not much at all.

Both sexes often like to point out the differences when they're noticed, but there isn't much to it these days.

misterrunon, I see you edited your post after my reply.

You seem to believe that Android is harder to set up than an iphone. In fact, you keep repeating that.

Have you tried an HTC? Those are easy to set up. My wife uses one all day to manage her art studio (she's a New Mexico artist who recently moved her gallery from the row she helped start to the next art center here). She set it up all by her lonesome, isn't rooted, and has been enjoying well over a full day's normal use with plenty of battery to spare. She tweets events featured on the collective's Facebook page, does her sales calculations, manages her email list, etc etc. She doesn't use a task killer or battery manager or radio on/off widgets because everything just works. And her phone is not rooted.

I'm sure she'd be happy to help you set up your phone.

You keep talking about anecdotal data. But you also keep tossing out how much easier an iPhone is while Android is just so hard.

I have news for you, that's totally anecdotal and is a viewpoint not universally shared.

Sorry you have had trouble with your Android setup. How can we help?

PS - I really think it's best that we not discuss statistics further, I really can't be going back to see your changed posts after I have already replied, and disproven your original post.

Well I'm doing fine with my Android devices. But you can buy my next one if you want to "help."

 :D

I know, you were responding to somebody else..

.. just having fun this morning.. MORE ESPRESSO!! :D:D
