Root Notes from the frontlines...(my conversation with LG about the bootloader)

Replaced it in one minute, no questions asked when I broke 4G on my first motion.I currently have a replacement.

right they won't tell you the cost associated with that though. they will replace but they do not want to replace any devices, but they still do.

Cost has to be more for an idiot who bricks their s3 compared to replacing a motion.

Agreed like I said I don't know why they did it. I am not suggesting what metro did is right. I agree a s3 is more expensive than motion. That's why there have it unlocked s3 is on all carriers Verizon doesn't care about bootloaders because they get the latest and greatest all the time. Metro very rare do they ever get a major device.

Verizon is the worst when it comes to locked bootloaders. They even had the Galaxy Nexus locked.

Ok so i sent LG an email about releasing the bootloader...
Their reply---

" If this is possible, Jose - which I tend to doubt - then please contact opensource@lge.com

Thank you and be blessed this New Year, Jose!"

They replied with this....

" Dear Jose T

Thank you for your interest about our mobile
phone.

I was doing some research the other day when i came across an article about unlocking any Android bootloader through the Android sdk. Unfortunately I've lost the link to it but I'm sure you can google and it wouldn't be hard to find. Has anybody tried this? I would do it but I only have one motion and its my only phone now so I can't risk a perma brick.

where do we email lg about unlocking the bootloader...i sit at a computer all day at work and I want to bug them about getting it done

here is there response

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your interest on LG mobile phone.
Currently we are considering methods and target models for bootloader unlock to allow customers to install a custom OS (Operating System).
We are looking for efficient and safe methods to support it, and the target model will be selected with careful consideration. (e.g. technical barrier such as platform limitation and/or mobile carrier
