Root Odin flashing(Return to stock) for the Samsung Transform Ultra

Using odin to flash the stock sprint files wasn't working for me. Just seemed to not stop downloading to phone. Recovery didn't get broken, but system did to where it would just boot into recovery. I don't think I tried to odin the boot.img with the trouble it was giving me. I was able to extract the 3 images from the sprint odin tars in the op and dd all 3 images I needed. The cwm image in the OP worked in odin luckily. I now have my ultra stock updated with root and cwm. Thanks for the files I needed.

Now if only I understood 100% of this so I could try it to see if I could fix my May 9th update WiFi crap-out issues...but I understand maybe 5%...CWM? TU? ABCDEFG? WHAT?! LOL.

*hangs head*

This newbie has to just sit around, bitch whine and moan, until Samsung hopefully follows through and pushes out these new updates everyone keeps saying they claim they'll send out.
Crossing my fingers. Otherwise I'm screwed :-(

I went to download the link but minus is telling me the file doesn't exist. Anybody know of any other links to get these files?

Sorry slipknot I've been busy keeping my new gf happy lol I will try to either walk you through the steps or hook you up via teamviewer

To download the file you must do it from your computer. Downloading from your phone seems to give that issue

Thanks for all the work you guys are doing, wish me luck.

Alright started trying to do this about 20 minutes ago. Got to the part about load the transform.ops file in, went to go download the file all it gives me are the numbers and commas and the corresponding functions, all I am trying to do is flash one of the stock images on to my phone. Can I do this without using the ops file or where could I obtain the file.

Once I get this to work I'm seriously thanking and donating to everyone that has put any work intohelping idoits like me to root these awesome terror devices lol.

Ultra CWM recovery has a hardware "feature" that causes the phone to reboot after 2 minutes.

  • FIX: Do a restore of a known good backup and recovery will stay up forever after that.
  • FIX: Do a backup of a good booting phone and recovery will stay up forever after that.
  • FIX: Mount the SD card and run rmt_storage from the console.

Flashing an image of /data partition that is smaller than the Ultra stock data partition size cause problems in Odin
.

  • FIX: Don't flash a data image!
  • FIX: Reformat /data in CWM recovery and then flash a known good kernel with Odin
  • Note: I flashed a /data image with Odin that was ~10MB and my data partition was ~10MB but the phone refused to boot to Android and booted instead into CWM recovery. After I reformated /data, the data partition was 1GB but the phone still refused to boot into Android. After trying a few things that failed, I flashed the Ultra OC kernel to /boot using Odin and I got a good boot into Android.

Hey when i do odin i did all the tars and all my apps where still there and i still had root so can someone please pm me and tell me what i am doing wrong

Lotta! Help me please!!! I think I bricked my phone. Stuck in Ram DUMP mode with downloading screen showing. I have tried ODIN but no luck. Any suggestions?

...in using the stock transform ultra tar files found here with Odin, however I figured I would share my experience\findings with everyone.

Ok, just like is stated in the tut, Odin does NOT like flashing the sprint tar files one bit. I tried, and tried, and tried some more with no luck. PLUS, for the life of me I couldn't find the SPH-M930_REL_EG30_PRODUCT.tar.md5 file anywhere. So, in an act of rooting desperation hehe, I took a chance and played brick chicken with the phone... Now this is the cool part: I went and download the GNU Tar pre-compiled binary for win32, extracted the tars for sprint that were provided here, ReTar'ed em up... And what do ya know? They installed just fine w\Odin. This is not a fluke; I have flashed them 5x now just to make sure... Mostly in an effort to get that voodoo root locker working. Anyhow, just figured I would share that with ya'll. Peace, and keep it lit k? <\\\\\%* ~~^~

..the space for the files I can send them.. Or if you'd like to do it yourself, attached to this is the installer for tar. All you would do is:

unzip the file, and run the installer

either using winrar or tar, extract the img files from the tar files provided
in the tutorial here.

then, the easiest no-brainer way would be to copy the recovery.img to the directory where the tar binary is located.. In my case it was:
C:\Program Files (x86)\GnuWin32\bin

Now, open a cmd prompt window, and CD to that directory. In Windows 7, hold down ctrl and shift, then right click on the directory and choose open command window here.

Now. at the command prompt, type in:
tar cvf tu_recovery.tar recovery.img
..then hit enter. Presto! Now repeat this for the system.img.ext4 and boot.img files found in the other two tar archives.

Hope this helps! And urm, keep it lit <\\\\\%* ~~~~^~ ~

PS: use the OPS file attached to this as well..

Ok folks, to anybody that needs em.. I've got uTorrent seeding a zip of the working Sprint Odin tars. I'll leave it up and seeding for as long as I can. You'll have to obviously unzip the zip file to expose the *.torrent. No Bitorrent client? For windows, download uTorrent, install then just double click the torrent file.

...regarding the Odin flash of these files:

A) It is *always* a good idea to first boot into recovery mode and do a factory reset prior to flashing. From my experience, this goes for just about any android flash, Odin or otherwise.

B) Odin does not report the update correctly; IE: the little green progress bar does not completely fill up, even though the file completes successfully.

C) Once you flash the system tar, don't bother trying to boot all the way yet. Once the phone tries to reboot, yank the battery, put it back in and go back to download mode. Vice versa if you flashed the kernel first. 2.3.4 kernel requires 2.3.4 system... 2.3.4 system requires 2.3.4 kernel. However from what I can tell, the recoveries are identical between them so that doesn't matter.

On the topic of recoveries, I flashed the CWM boost recovery haphazardly (not checking size and what not) however it worked fine.. However when I reverted back to stock, stock recovery worked however I could not go back to CWM initially. Now I'm assuming the only reason the boost CWM didn't brick my phone is due to its partition size being nearly 2 full mb smaller than the sprint\stock recovery. If it had been larger I'd probably turned the phone into a door stop. With that said, I got CWM back on the phone using from-within-android-2.3.4 root+CWM installer floating around, and can report that it appears to work 100%.

Thats all folks! And remember... Keep it lit =)

ok im on 2.3.4 rooted with cwm and bobz kernel phone is buggin the crap outta me to update so i wanted to but id like to reinstall cwm and re root after update . is this possible ? also using odin to return to stock for update i will flash system , kernel and recovery do i need to do these 3 in any particular order ? should i flash 1 then another then another or flash one reboot then so on till all 3 are done ? thanks guys got all the files except system and its on its way cause its the free slow account lol . if the file isnt a illegal file meaning we can legally have it let me know and ill host it on my dropbox so it will be full speed . thanks in advance for any help with my questions above. i have flash the intercept all over the place just need some guidance

no but if you hang tight for a few days I'm gonna give BLuFeNiX all the basebands as odin tars and he will have them in his op

Hey mav. Will you give him the sprint version too? I have been in contact with chevron (as I'm sure you know). I can not update my baseband. Sprint had come out with the whole rom and I don't know how to just get the baseband out of it. What I'm thinking is if I flash back to stock, then flash update. The baseband would be updated. I tryed that earlier today but the update was not successful. Sprint's version is to update from FD11 to FG11. I have the update file. I have renamed it several times and it is still renamed wrong but it is the update.

Oh man! this forum is very helpful! I don't suppose that anyone's uploaded any images of rooted 2.3.6 for Spring, have they? I'll continue to look around and post back here if they have. Thanks!
