Help Offical Moment Update

Why not a warning: If the SBL flash on bml2 is incomplete/interupted/corrupted you phone will never boot up again! you really think they would even release a bml2 flash update ota EVEN IF YOU COULD WRITE TO IT WHICH YOU CANT
Seriously guys, WHS. Just can't do it OTA w/o a very high chance of bricking phones.

In more simple terms: the phone, as far as anyone knows, is incapable of updating certain portions of itself while it is running. Kinda like trying to format your C drive from Windows ... To update those portions the phone must be powered down, booted up in a certain mode, and updated from another device.

From what I have read about each hacked together OS and update for the Moment that SDX has put out there's always things missing; some functionality that doesn't work that I use. I'd rather patiently wait for the official updates than use a crippled piece of equipment that I use everyday for business and personal uses.
That has not been my experience with "hacked" updates at all. So far every SDX update I have installed, from custom kernels to the CL14 update, has improved the functionality of my phone and taken little to none of it away. The stock Sprint CJ05 install has significantly more features that that simply don't work than any of the "hacked" updates.

I understand the urge to get the "official" update, I used to have it too. Until I read of the countless people driving all around town trying to find a Sprint store to update their phone, or being told it was updated when the phone clearly still said "CJ05." I updated my phone on my own, with no hiccups, without even wiping all my data, in the comfort of my own home, in less than 15 minutes.

Speaking first hand, I have the hacked CL14 as well as ZE10.2 kernel on my phone and it has complete functionality. The only thing it doesnt have is the voice function, and that is because I rooted it.

someone please post the ph# to the Sprint store where you were able to get the update done at. thank you very much

Can I do the SDX update on my MAC? If not, I have windows/bootcamp installed on my HD, but how to I do the update? Any guide/steps that show me what I need to do?

Thanks,
Josh

Thanks, I just went to Sprint in Maplewood MN, got the update and everything works so far. They did have to erase all my stuff, the phone was new so I really didn't have anything on there. Took them about 2hrs, they told me 10-15min when I called, but it took way longer. I just went and had a beer and some food while I waited.

Just got mine updated; but now my phone is worse off than what it was. I must say after being on for 8 hours and still at 80% battery life i'm impressed, and no lag in the keyboard is awesome too....

but now my service is horrible. i'm dropping calls with 3 bars; and i keep getting the "data roaming" warning at one bar, even with the "do not warn again checked." so every five minutes it beeps and the warning pops up. not to mention I cant send texts. I can receive them fine, but when i go to send it just comes up with a notification that says it cant send. I uninstaller HandCent, tried using the stock messenger, and no luck. Tried reinstalling the newest HandCent, still cant send messages.

Anyone have any ideas to help me fix my dropping calls, constant data roam warning, or inability to text dilemmas? any help is much appreciated. thanks.

I have noticed the roaming frequency a lot more. I tried setting the phone to home only but I got x for signal a lot. so i went back to roaming and it switches regularly. not sure if the PRL needs update now or the antenna code was tampereed with. maybe lexington just has issues now?

i did read somewhere about updating the PRL, so I did that as well as went into the settings menu and manually checked roaming guard to on; restarted phone and turned it back off. so far so good... no warnings, and i successfully sent a text. just hope it stays this way because i enjoy texting.

I walked into the Sprint store and service center in Indianapolis on south US31, they knew right what I wanted, double checked to see I backed up my phone already, suggested posting a poster of me as the "perfect customer" when I said I had, revoked the offer when I said I'm in IT, and said it would take 15 or 20 minutes. Everything went off w/o a hitch.

I have both AppManager and Astro File Manger. I had no issues with re installing app. I lost my text messages and my notepad saves is all.

since doing the update has anyone noticed weird data connection issues? mine include:

1 - switching to 1x quite a bit
2 - data will not work and sometimes get a 'samsung.internal' force close message. during this time, only the up arrow on the EV shows light up, the down arrow doesn't.

hmm. i have no idea whats causing them either. wifi will still work if in that state. do u use the craigslist notifica app?

I don't use it. Additionally, when in this state, switching to wi-fi didn't work unless I rebooted first.

hmm mine usually still works on wifi, but it keeps showing the 'force close' until i reboot.

the android logs aren't much help either.

Mine too was updated out of the box with CL14, and I'm getting the same problems as mentioned above, including auto-airplane mode at least twice a day.

2.0/2.1 can't get here fast enough. I'm almost ready to football this phone down the block...
