I only have a Droid X. I used to have Windows mobile. This is my first Android phone. I own an Ace Hardware store so I can put these phones (2) under my store. Ace also has a deal with Verizon that gives us some discounts.

But it's definately the X

Hmm sounds interesting.

I guess its a good thing the Droid team seems to be a lot smarted than the Droid X team.Droid X team can't even deliver a update that was allready 95% done with the Droid 2 release in the time it took the Droid team to build a complete update for the Droid.

I guarantee you haven't the slightest about what goes into preparing an official open source update combined with your own software and hardware one month after release. That's a pretty quick turn around.

Don't get me wrong I too am a bit WTF on this issue since the Droid 2 seems to be stealing a lot of the glory but truth be told in one month people will have gotten over this phone and forgotten.

I made the choice getting the X knowing full well that it wasn't a full vanilla dev phone and that updates would subsequently take a little longer. How long I was willing to test. Believe me when I say that I sometimes ponder if going to the X was a good idea given that it is not a Vanilla platform...but either way the hardware was too good to pass up.

When the updates slow down to an annual update things should be better. In my opinion the "volume issue" is not regarded as a major "bug" right now. The fact that exchange doesn't perform properly however is perplexing and I would have thought a fix for this would have been implemented with the hotfix that was released shortly after the DX's release.

Nothing has changed.Unless you only have one person working on the update it should not take 2 months to roll it out.95% of the work is all ready done with the Droid 2 release.Same phone different case.

I'm gonna just assume you know you already know you have no idea what you're talking about and happily go on with my life.

Care to elaborate? I'm not annoyed. I'm just wondering what you meant. I was talking about the page where all the threads are listed, not the actual pages of a thread themselves.

Most of the things I say have no actual value. No worries :P

didn't see a post for this. we use the droid X for our corporate phones and got this today, looks like froyo is a go by september

Verizon Wireless

A DROID update for you and your employees

DROID by Motorola - even better with Android™ 2.2 (Froyo)!
Within the next few weeks, two over the air software updates will be sent to the DROID
devices on your company's account. The first update will bring the device operating
system to Android 2.2. The second update will enable users to download Adobe

Please please please please please please please review the forum before posting a new thread. We have, currently, something like 4 threads talking (well, most complaining) about the early September Froyo release.

I'm so tired of hearing about Froyo. It's not even that substantial of an update. Our phones are running fine currently.

no the phone isn't running fine, its exchange support is horrible and the fixes are supposed to be coming in 2.2 . its great the features of the phone you use are working fine but that isn't the case for everyone. and before you say anything touchdown is nice but the pin lock is a huge deal breaker. nothing is more annoying than unlocking the phone, typing in your pin, trying to see your email then having to type in your pin again.

Okay, so you need Exchange Support. Motorola has said it's coming with 2.2, and they already said 2.2 was coming early September (and at one point, "late summer," which is pretty much the same thing) before the phone was even released. Posting numerous threads about the same damn thing isn't going to speed up the release process.

Ultimately this email was not sent to your company in regards to the Droid X it is for the original droid and is to inform them that a new update will be coming for the original droid to include flash.

... and this thread is exactly why I would like a way to automatically opt OUT of some threads. Short of manually examine each and every title which is a pain...

Sorry but you are completely wrong here! They are not the same phone!

The DX has a higher MP camera than the D2. The DX has no physical keyboard whereas the D2 does. The DX has a larger screen than the D2. So other than sharing the same model processor and maybe a few other chips on the motherboard, how exactly are they the same???

Pretty much all of the same chips. The camera sensors work the same just different MP.Same screen just a little larger and the keyboard is just a simple input device. All of these things are very minor differences that should take small programming changes.

So if I buy a phone with 2.1 and my carrier is still selling phones with 1.5 (I'm in Panama), I can't I install 2.2 ?

Or, worse, I have to downgrade to make it work???

okay so i posted a thread similar to this one before, but now my phones problems are worse. it powers off by itself, n launcher pro when i try to resize a widget the phone freezes for like 30 seconds(and i know ppl who hav launcher pro and say it doesnt give them problems on other phones) some components of the screen, like the slider, will be in landscape mode when everything isnt, my phone freezes for no reason, i dont get 3g in alot of areas. and motorola said something about fixing the low speaker through a patch. is that even possible? and yeah does anyone reccomend the incredible?

these are not common dx problems. i think the incredible is a great phone, but having used both, i like the dx better.
have you tried a hard reset?

??? lol never thought of that and dont know how any way(im a noob) maybe ill get a new dx im still within the 30 day money back guarantee. ill also try removing launcher pro

I would try a recovery if you have not already. If that doesnt fix the problem take it into a store and have them replace it for you....My phone has not froze up once or rebooted once since i have had it...and I am going on almost 30 days.

settings > privacy > factory data reset. try that. you will lose all the apps you downloaded, but you wont have to pay for any again. once you log into google again, all your contacts will come back.
give that a shot. if that doesnt work, call customer service and get them to ship you out a new one. you shouldnt have to be dealing with those issues.
if you have any trouble, or need any help, feel free to ask. this forum is packed full of people who are more than willing to help out.
