Help [OFFICIAL] 2.2 ota is live for evo

I'm curious to know if anyone with the leaked version is getting this update, and if they are, if there's any problems with installing it. I'm going to wait until I see some people say they've had success updating from the leaked version.

By the way, I have the leaked version and no software update is showing up for me yet.

I tried to manually install the OTA update. It gives a "installation aborted" error. Then prompts me to reboot. So, no luck.

I'm happy with the leaked version, actually. If/When they release a patch, I'll install that. Otherwise, I'm ok with what I got!

Got the OTA update quickly of wifi. Installed then eventually showed rebooting and finally ended up on the "4G" screen for a few minutes then the phone went blank (looks like it turned off but I don't know if its a black screen or off). Do you try to turn it back on at this point? It's been about 10 minutes with a blank screen. FYI- I didn't do the unofficial update.

Thanks for the help.

Edit: ok, I just hit the power button and the screen came on and all is well. Update complete without any further problems!

piece of cake!
3 min to download on 4G
14 min to install - no error messages
checked 20 apps and everything working fine

Just finished installing 2.2 on EVO. I've played around with it a little (about 30 mintues) but haven't seen ANYTHING different. Maybe I don't know what to look for. Web browsing doesn't seem any faster or different. Not sure if the Flash is working or not. All settings pages that I have seen appear to be the same. The camera is the same as far as I can tell. Same same all the way around. Nothing seems faster or anything. The ONLY difference I've noticed is that on the system information page is says Android 2.2 is the operating system.

Not sure what to think of this. I'll keep looking.

Popped the battery after being on the triangle + ! for over and hour and it rebooted to my original 2.1. Thank god its not bricked (yet!) :P.

Interesting. I checked for firmware and software update 2 seconds ago and don't have it. Oh well.
Try rebooting. I just updated my fiancees phone to Froyo. I was checking for updates for an hour or two and nothing. Rebooted and it showed up.

I'll have to play with it a bit, I'm still running cm6 on mine.

is it better to do the update then do a factory reset to start anew?

doesn't look like you have to do anything before or after the update. the factory reset is only necessary to resolve the browser flash issue, and that is an issue only if you installed the hack/rogue flash for 2.1 app before froyo.

I've been playing around with this for almost 2 hours now. The install and reboot went pretty fast over wifi. My wifi signal appears to be stronger (but I didnt check the speed before the update so cant say for sure) . The scrolling and browsing is noticeably smoother/snappier/faster. All my Apps are there.

So far so good!

OH!!!! And my battery is hanging in there just fine, too. I left work with a 100% charge 8 hours ago, I still have 50% and I'd say I've been using it heavily :)

got the same screen with the triangle and the ! hit the power volume up and down screen and it reset not sure where to go from here though.

I wish they would just release an update that is exactly the same.

Just to watch everyone go "omg much faster"

It's not placebo here though. The JIT compiler was a big part of the update.

I can't lie...I dont know alot of the technical stuff that goes on with our EVO's. I can't tell a difference with speed on it. But I never studied it enough to be able to make an objective opinion. All I know is that we all have a kickass phone.
