Android v2.2 Froyo for the Samsung Galaxy S leaked? | ZOMGitsCj

so, i can say that we have more than this as our test Froyo firmware version that has been leaked is already optimised and tested and being used by many people and not only by people on this forum :)
have a nice day :)

thanks gie, saved me the trouble of answering him
bottom line, that's samsung-firmwares.com twitter, not the official samsungs one
people should really rely less on twitter, or at least check whose twitter is it
so wuthton, looks like you should check your facts after all ;)

you're welcome, wasn't too hard to bash samsung hehe after burning badly with Samsung Galaxy (i7500) which never got official firmware update and only tweets which most of the time were lies or rumours. and up until now they never admitted the existence of first samsung galaxy and never updated it officially. that's why i know how these guys will suffer having their new Samsung Galaxy S (remember this post :)) as the company is too huge, have their own Bada OS and cooking new phones almost every day to be bothered to provide any customer support more so from official channels :)

so, does, 2.2 have an actual native backup solution along the lines of titanium backup? seems like there's still no good, one stop shop for the unrooted...

If I went ahead and rooted cos I just couldn't wait, do I need to unroot back to my saved backup so I can get the official update?

Ta

hi i rooted my phone by that i mean i now have the ability to install costume Roms however i still have the original T-mobile uk branded one on their and have not tweaked or changed it in anyway would i still get a OTA update.

You'll have to wait for T-Mobile to release they branded version.

How will this work??

When I had my nokia I would go to tmobile and follow the links for updating my phone. Then I would need to enter the imei (serial) number so the nokia website would know exactly which phone I had and whether it could be updated.

But with htc, I follow the updates for T-mobile and it simply takes me to the htc software update page.
So how is this regulated and how does the generic htc website know if you phone is branded or not??

and HTC will ship all Android phones in China with Froyo on board, fuels fire for immediate update closer to home -- Engadget <-------- so annoying!!! why won't it just come out :p

Right before we hit the publish button, we hear back from HTC. It looks like Mark’s Twitter announcement came a little early, but we could see the Android 2.2 rollout “possibly as early as tomorrow, but some things still need to be checked before we can confirm a specific day

HTC's website has no idea whether your phone is branded or locked or who the carrier is.

I'm guessing HTC will deliver their 2.2 with Sense ROM to the carriers and then it's up to them to modify it if needs, branded ROMs, and then deliver the OTA update.

I wonder if carriers will release the unbranded compatible ROM before their branded ROM, or whether they will hold them back until both are ready to go out.

I imagine it's easier to install 2.2 on a new phone than it is to update from 2.1 to 2.2. HTC will probably have to build a different installer for the 2.1 upgrade, which will be subject to its owning testing, as opposed to a fresh install on a blank phone.
