Looks like it's out on Vodafone for branded phones.

I'm being offered an update but haven't run it yet as i'm at work and not on wi-fi. So it's probably Froyo, but I can't say for certain.

Me too - Just got a notification - damn the fact i'm at workwith no WiFi! Will have to wait till tongight then!

Well done Vodafone!

just got the update prompt now, had to reboot.

Got unbranded desire from mobiles.co.uk (CPW) on T-mobile.
Spent ages clicking the updte, but rebooted the phone, pressed the maually update, said no updte, then few secs later the update popped up!

Can people who have updated to Froyo that have BRANDED ORANGE Desire's confirm how they did it without an unlock code or is this a neccessity?

Do you leave gold card in?
Does everything work ok?

i got an unlock code online they fron 5-7 pounds and i followed instructions off here to root my phone an apply the update an everything working really well

Ok - rebooting a few times - there's now a great big Voda logo on boot! I didn't want that! Still waiting for update process to complete......

So - all appears to have gone smoothly. Backup was taken automatically before the update. Voda logo on boot now (hmm) and a prompt to restore the settings automatically.

Currently looking at a "restoring your data and settingd from the backup..." screen......

Bad news its not Froyo, just a load of VF branding and apps you can't remove. I'm waiting before I install it, hopefully there will be a big back lash & it will get changed.

This has me considering rooting.

Is there any way to go back to settings before
We installed this pointless vf branding update??
Wish I'd had a look on here before I got all excited
And downloaded this crap........
Voda have just f****d everyone over.:(

still no froyo update here in the philippines :(

I don't know if it's similar to Japan, but there's a tweet from the head marketing guy for Softbank here saying that the Japanese version of 2.2 will be out around November. So maybe they're not finished tweaking it for Asian languages, or something?

Still...

What did the initial 'there's an update' screen say? I'm pretty sure it made it quite clear I was installing Android 2.2 when my unbranded Desire received it, so surely this Vodafone update would have said something different.

It just said install update..obviously they know everyone wants 2.2 at
The minute so they've put this rubbish out there.
There's also a load of random bookmarks
And the web is now voda360 specific :(
I HATE YOU VODAFONE

I hope 3 dont pull a voda and push out a branding update (that was very nasty of them IMO). I'm quite happy on the unbranded\unlocked one I have on 2.2 thank you very much!!!

Ha! Yeah, beware of updates from 3! The sneaky Voda people may have started something there.......
