Who told you 2.2 is coming out next month? It hasn't even been announced, and that's rumored to happen next month.

This is how rumors get started and threads turn to shit.

You think you have it bad? Ask a GSM Hero user how it feels to get shafter on three straight firmware updates for a year.

And I agree with who ever joined the forum to learn about the phone and only to read shit on 2.1. The mods are trying to take these threads down, but this one still manages to stay alive.

Can this thread be deleted already? Those that want the 2.1 upgrade have probably already got it. They don't need the links in this thread.

Google has already confirmed Froyo to be 2.2, and Froyo (already in testing) has been "caught in the wild" both in screen shots and showing up in android market stats. Word is that it will be released to dev's at Google I/O in a few weeks.

I know. I made a thread about it. Nothing said 2.2 was being released into the wild next month. 3.0 is being tested right now. That's not coming the month after 2.2. :rolleyes:

They're going to release it on a new phone. No big-name phone is due to come out whose specs have not already been leaked.
 
I called and convinced a VZW Tech to call HTC, Well he did and the news was not good at all. HTC says the software still has issues and they are not looking to release it till possibly the end of June. It could be sooner if the bugs get worked out,but as of right now June is the time frame! My question to Verizon about that was well if they don't release it till June and Verizon has to test it do I take it that we might not see it till July? The VZW rep said that it is a possibility! So much for that! I guess I will sit back with my popcorn and watch the forum explode over this one! Sorry guys and girls have a good next few months!
 
I talked to htc and they said that they have no record of a phone called the eris...they have no records of even 2.1 software, in fact they dont know who verizon is!! Just kidding.... Everyone on here who spoke with ahtc rep, please be quiet...why would they tell one person what the deal is when they have to release an official statement? Why would they tell one single person a huge secret when they could tell the world?
 
I was told June too by a rep last week. I went into a different store day and asked about 2.1. This rep told me that it won't be happening. He hasn't heard anything and that the DROID is the only one getting 2.1. :rolleyes:
 
just thought i would throw this out there, just talked to a verizon csm and informed them that if this update is not comming out till june/july i cant keep this phone as for what i do, i need a full working phone. He talked to someone at HTC and was givin the line that there testers should have the new update in june, with it rolling out mid july OTA for verizon customers. He is going to confirm that with his testers(who are at lunch right now) and will call me back(or Message me) with what they find out. Unless they get all my apps working correctly that came with the phone by an update, they need to echange the phone for a model that works right out of the box. Ill let everyone know what he says.

wow. this is beyond sad. july? if that's true i'm going to put 2.1 on now. getting sick of waiting. if only i could be sure i wouldn't get the issue where the sound stops working. had that happen about 10 times a day with the one i 'upgraded' to 2.1.
 
yea, HTC told him june(not early, mid or late, just june) rollout to testers for verizon, then hopefully mid july the OTA update will happen...But like i said, still waiting on call back with info from the testers themselves to see if that matches up with what they know
 
What I dont understand is how HTC is capable of making a brand new phone the incredible and have time to make it run 2.1 with the full sense UI, but dont have time to make the simple update for the eris users. In reality all they really have to do is make the sense UI work with the 2.1 firmare that runs on every other android phone, without many problems....Im just angry that the date keeps getting pushed back and almost wish that I waited for the incredible.

Hopefully htc gets it done soon!!!
