That is a bit too general of a notion, "if you're not a risk taker then stick with 1.5."

Different people take different sorts of risks with different things in their lives.

It might be more accurate to zero in on the specific, in this case. "If you're not willing to take a risk with the functionality of some aspects of your phone, and perhaps also risk disqualifying it from receiving the OTA update, then stick with 1.5."

Oh dang Frisco. I forgot to be more specific for you. I realize that you posted the other day while free falling from 10,000 feet but others who aren't living on the edge like yourself won't understand that you can still jump from planes, yet still enjoy 1.5.

Oh dear Gawd. The above was a joke in reference to an idiotic troll who graced us with his/her presence a few months back. We all know it's really suit. Search "law suite" in the forums.

Oh my bad. I missed that joke the first time around. :)

Did you seriously just get upset with someone for not getting an inside joke? There was no tone in your post that even suggested it even was a joke. This place really is snappy sometimes isn't it?

Dude/Dudette. Seriously...Xanax. I always joke and don't generally put people down on the forums. The "Oh dear Gawd" was like saying, "Oh, you don't even want to know. We had this ridiculous person come in here and used the word 'law suite' in their thread title." Is that a little more mild for your taste?

My remark to Frisco was also in jest as he knows that people who have been around for a while respect him for his decision to stay with 1.5 but it doesn't stop us from throwing jabs at him when possible. He's also quite good at throwing them back in a very intellectual manner. As you saw above.

Ahh ok, it's all good then. I thought you just being snippy, but it's cool.

Seeing how crappy the leaks are, I'm not so pissed the update has been delayed. Clearly it was built to go back when the first leak came out in February or so? But all these bugs are screwing it over and despite having two updates prior to the original beta, the same issues are still there.

Something tells me the beta leaks are staggered. We're on v3, but perhaps testers are on v4? When VZW releases v5 to see if the problems are fixed, the beta testers drop v4 and take on v5? There's no way we're on the cutting edge of the beta testing. Or we could be, I dunno.

But I think it makes sense that once we have a bug-free leak, we can start thinking about the OTA. Since the v3 beta has the silent call and 50% issue, I can't see VZW still letting it go through without testing a fix for it. Therefore, I think we'll see v4 in June sometime.

Well remember our leaks are a few builds behind the ones that VZW is currently testing and from what I've heard v3 is pretty darn close to an OTA:)

Just read this piece of news about source code release for the Eris, can't really tell what it really means though (is this the phone kernel where the provider needs to add its characteristics???).

Any body?

HTC releases source code for Droid Incredible, Eris, Legend | Android Central

Something like that i know that it is what allows PC users to run Mac OSX on there non-apple computers and they have different kernels altered to do specific things like allowing the computer to sleep. So maybe the kernel does more then what we think it does

If the Incredible "replaces" the Eris.....what happens if I need a warranty replacement device?

Now Truelove is just a slick last name. Make sure you get a doctorates degree of some kind so you can be Dr. Truelove...said in a low and slow tone. :D

Take it or leave it but...

Coworker went into our Regional VZW store to check out the Incredible because he just got the Eris and was thinking about switching. He didn't, but while he was there, asked about 2.1 and was told that it could very well be coming in the next few weeks because they just got trained on it.

It could very well be BS that they're telling everyone to get them off their backs, but I think it's believable.

my husband has the eris, he called the verizon customer service line to find out about the upgrade. the verizon rep told him the eris was scheduled for a 1.6 upgrade, and knew nothing about 2.1, but called HTC for us, and was on hold for 6 minutes before coming back to us and giving us HTC's customer service number. He is currently on the phone with the HTC rep....will update you guys as soon as he finds something out.

No you aren't, but you just need to be patient. There was just a new leak of Android 2.1 for the Eris released a few days ago. Like it was said in another thread, where exactly do you think these leaks are coming from? Verizon. They wouldn't be putting the time into beta-testing each leaked OS if they weren't serious about releasing it.

Also, they're probably a version or two ahead of the leaks we're receiving. An OS update is on the horizon. How far off is the question, but it's coming.
