Those are some awesomeeee pics. I absolutely love them, and they're so crisp! How do you go about making a full resolution pic to fit the phone? Do you need to start with an extremely high quality photo? I would think so to get that quality even on a small screen. Also, what do you use to do this? Any good free applications, or online tools you use? I've done photo cropping resizing etc, but I've never cared or been concerned about resolution but the screen IS so nice I'd like to take advantage!:D

I make sure the photos have a dpi value above 90 dpi...I also make sure the resolution prior to resizing is above 1200p...that way when you down size the image it doesn't get cropped or come out blurry...

as far as free online tools if you use photobucket to store photos online they have a simple resizing tool...but I am a photographer/editor...so I use photoshop cs4 for all my editing needs...and vegas pro for all my videos that I put together...

if you need more help or want me to make you something custom...pm me bro...i'll take care of you and help you out for sure...:D BTW...look at my avatar...that's an image I made in 20 minutes bored at class the other week...

Thanks man I appreciate it. I won't bog you down with requests for wallpapers haha, i tend to collect a bunch so it'd probably be easier for both of us if I can learn to just get it done myself. I just downloaded a few pics from google images and started messing with them...do you have any sites you frequent for high quality photo's? Clearly you have a bunch of your own, but if I just wanted to search online. Google images is hit or miss, even the big full versions it looks like are usually only around 80 dpi. theres gotta be a high quality image database out there, have a favorite?

its not a problem at all bro...its what I do and go to school for so its fun for me...but i'm more than willing to teach and help you learn the programs necessary to get good at editing...you know how to get a hold of me...

check this place out...i'm not an admin or moderator yet...but I do work there for friends once in a while...this forum is for photographer, editors, etc...we all share work and help each on projects here and there...but this is what you call a high resolution, bad ass custom avatar, wallpaper, signature...you name it we make it...:D you can add me as a friend there...my screen name is exactly the same as it is here...

click for link -> Screen-FX

another good thing to try is go google and just type in 1200p wallpapers...you will find numerous sites that have really high quality pictures and wallpapers...

Thats awesome, that site has some crazy good pictures...
I managed to get some down and size them to the 854 x 480 that the screen resolution is...but when I choose the pics, they crop function on the phone is a square, and it comes out half cut off on the actual wallpaper...what am I doing wrong?

I found these pictures on dpreview.com in the photo challenges.

I originally posted above Scottytent but I accidentally double posted. I get all my backgrounds for everything from there; I love it. Also, you need to crop it to 960x960, because the phone in both landscape and portrait will consume that space when it flips. That way it will always fit inside the image no matter what way you have it and which pane you're in.

I like these:

I have 47 images of the Nissan GT-R, 51 images of ActionTrip's BOTD from 2007, and 476 other images that I leeched from Howard Forums' Samsung Alias image thread.

I have them all resized to match one of the two dimensions, as rarely could I get both exactly right and maintain the correct aspect ratio. So, I resized to match one, and the other is smaller than required (so, if the width matches 960, Height is less than 854, and vice versa).

It irks me that the OS still forces me to crop these pics - the one I want to use is Picasa Web Albums - johnlgalt - My Desktops (left image) but it crops after resizing so that part of the car (left or right, your choice) gets cropped out....

Why can't the OS figure out the image is smaller than the desktop size and use it, filling in blank space where the dimensions are smaller than requested?

Yeah, that would be a good option to add. I also think making an option to switch wallpapers depending on orientation would be nice so you can get the full picture no matter what way you hold it.

Hmm, I suppose the board uses a default 1024 wide screen, but if I were to put 500+ images, you can bet that I would be showing thumbnails only.... lol

to use the crop function better its best to start at the very top left corner...that way when you pull the crop function on a picture 960x854 it will crop it to full screen...:D

pm me if you need any tips bro...

This is the one im using right now.. I love it.. I just works on so many levels

How do you take a screenshot of your droid?

connect your DROID using the usb 2.0 cable...then pull down the drop bar when usb pops up on the droid...click mount...

go on your computer...it should be your F drive...then open up the folder till you get to camera...then just copy and paste to your iflikr or photobucket account...then use the image button and copy and paste link...hope that helps you out...
