Just because NES games are also in the form of ROMs doesn't mean that NESoid has the slightest thing to do with flashing custom ROMs on a mobile phone.

NESoid should work just fine, regardless of Moto ****ing up the bootloader. Might just be an incompatibility with the D-Inc... and it definitely has NOTHING to do with the topic of this thread :p

Great post, just what I was thinking. Sure the phone doesn't "brick" in the technical sense, and I suppose the access to recovery is still better then a dead phone.

I thought we all understood that eFuze was reversible by Moto. whether its through Jtag or via recovery its not much of a difference, the ball is still in their court to fix the phone (odds on moto re-flashing your now obviously hack attempted phone?)

Sure Recovery access is better then nothing but it still, for all practical purposes, Brickes the phone since we can't use recovery to re-flash a ROM because of the encrypted bootloader!

The only way I can see around this is if We get INCREDIBLY Lucky and get a full blown signed update.zip leaked which can function (for all intents and purposes) as a back up. Kinda like the .sbf file we got for DROID...

Actually, could we get a .sbf for the dx? theoretically RSDlite should work(?) just as well for restored eFuze'd phones...

Either way it is better then a full brick but unless we get a a badass leak (why not throw root in it as well :P), it isn't gonna mean much practically.

Today - No. Tomorrow - not likely. In the future - no one knows for sure. But we expect the phone to be rooted (it actually may already be rooted, but personally I don't think so). The encrypted bootloader is another story. At least it won't brick your phone as first reported. So that will allow people to try different things to get the bootloader cracked.
 
We will jus have to wait and see what the leading developers can do with this thing.

I think that with the Efuse thing put to bed, and they can boot into recovery. Its just a matter of time before its rooted.

How long did it take them to root the incredible? Seems like about 3 months.

At least the thing doesn't have a self destruct feature... LOL...
 
Why are you guys trying to hack your device and make it do something it was not sold for you to do? It was sold as a 1ghz phone from Motorola, they intend to keep it that way. Why would they want users trying to change these specs when they are releasing new hardware that is faster?

If you overclock not only are you hurting Motorola's bottom line, but you are also hurting yourself by endangering your product, and having a dead Motorola Droid X looks bad on the company even if you did it.

Also these ROM's you want to put on can be potentially dangerous and filled with all kinds of spyware and viruses, best you leave the real ROM making to Motorola and Google, not amateurs.

Well i dont root my phones but i know people that have and these "amateurs" as you call them make some pretty good roms alot of the time nearly as good as what the company and google push out. I mean look at the nexus one users who got a custom 2.2 that actually worked better then what google pushed out at first. So these people know what they are doing they are far from amateurs IMO

the thing is though, they can slip whatever spyware or keylogger, virus they want to one of these ROMs and destroy your world by getting all your passwords and you won't know it until it is too late, maybe even your credit card # ! How can you trust these anonymous people, would be like letting people build you custom versions of your OS like Windows XP black that is riddled with spyware and crap.

Like i said nobody is making you download the custom rom. yeah that is a possibility but these people that do that want to be recognized and not ruin people's phones. That is the reason its up to your discretion whether you want to download it or not. I know when i was waiting for 2.1 on my eris and it kept getting pushed back i downloaded a custom rom and loved it it actually worked better then the ota verizon pushed. If your paranoid then dont download it nobody is forcing you to.

are you freaking serious????!!!!!! Please please please don't post on something you obviously know NOTHING about. If you don't want to tinker with your phone then by all means feel free to run it as stock as you want. I do however take great offense on behalf of all the amazing developers we have in our android community that you would go so far as to call them out as amateurs. Who the hell do you think you are????!!!!

Why do you think Motorola spent time and countless employee hours into developing eFUSE? They are trying to protect the consumer I believe. Also trying to protect their product and software.

Don't agree with this at all.

I bought MY phone to do what ever I want with it. Why would I buy something that is goverened to others liking? My car came with a govern rating of 130mph but yet the speedometer reads up to 170... Obviously I have had open source done because I don't like to be told or made what to do with things that I buy.

My Droid 1 is running faster then any phone out right now, and its all because of these 'amateurs'. I have yet to see a hazardous ROM yet BTW...

They are just setting governs to make the phone useless in a year, and make people buy the next best thing.

That is part of the problem. Do you think Motorola wants you having a phone that is as fast as the current phones they are releasing? That is why intel locks it's multiplier's and uses the same chips for their extreme editions, the company needs to make money, when the consumer goes around the technology like this and exploits it, it hurts the employees at the company who worked hard to make the product and the price of new phones since you are not buying new products since you are getting the same speeds as the current ones.

Which is not a bad thing, the employee's work hard to make a product, the phone part's etc, and then people go around this and over clock the parts to make them work just as good as new products they release, it hurts the company employee's hourly wage I would guess since more new product isn't being purchased.

It is the companies fault for making it available to be hacked. If I was a main person at MOTO, and I saw a bunch of kids hacking my phone I would probably change out some employees quick. But hey, if it is just sitting there, out in the open why not take advantage of it? Don't blame us for their mistakes.

It isn't, but if they are blowing through money to make the device un hackable, they are wasting money.
 
I can't be more happy with my battery life. My DX has been on for over 10 hours and its at 50% battery

There are so many holes in this logic. So by your logic we should take everything big brother gives us and use it the way big brother tells us. If you wanna be a lemming go ahead. Better yet get an Iphone. Android is definitely not the right place for you to be
