Official eBay App?

Ebay say they have an 'official' ebay app out available on the Market. Currently using PKD (which is okay for looking at items, but not great for looking at items you are selling)

I can't find the app on the Market at all..

I tried:

here ya go, just scan it with your barcode. I don't see why they'd block it. But, it's not that great anyway.

eBay v1.0.1.6 Application for Android | Shopping

But it still doesn't find it - has ebay taken it down for some reason?

I haven't installed it, but it's there on the market. Maybe it's not listed in your location?

I'm in the UK if that helps

* Sorry, got it mixed up with Google's Shopping app. My apologies!

hmm well installed v1.01 and it doesn't seem much different to PKD and is searching eBay.com not .co.uk..

voice search though :-D

Thanks David.

Seems strange that there should be any regional problems with the way eBay works.

Will there be a feedback page for the app? Will it rely on Market comments?

Actually comparing eBay Mobile v1 to pkt eBay, the eBay version has some work to do. On the same phone, same network pkt eBay is returning results in almost half the time, has a quick link to completed listings and the price check with average prices etc.

eBay mobile has the feedback page though which is quite important but it could really do with the option to view the neg feedback.

What I'm wondering about this is the point of it ?

I can navigate to the ebay webpage and carry out the same activities that I would on my desktop PC.

The only thing I can think is that the app may be quicker.

What are the other benefits ?

Exactly that really bud. It would be a lot faster to see how many items are selling / how much for in two clicks than, open browser, navigate to ebay, login, click summary etc.

Plus a dedicated app will be the 'light' version so will be just quicker in general with less to load.

If you just want a quick look at the summary page rather than 'browsing', a dedicated app is needed. Otherwise if you're not in a rush and sitting down, full on browsing from Dolphin HD or the standard browser is great. ;)

I would like to try the official eBay app, so am waiting for the UK version of it.

Since posting this I have been using Pkt Auction and while I like its simplicity and ease of use, it lacks features that would make it a killer app.
