Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

I noticed that as well, and in the comments on the Engadgeget site someone mentioned that the phone probably won't be released publicly until then. Although just to get this out there, I don't see that being the case.

I do wonder what "exactly" that means....
LOL

The increabile would be release in august 18 2010 then. <edit> I am soo sorry I lied to you, it was august 6, 2010,</edit>

It means that the fcc can not show those parts until after that date. Nothing more

Also on another note, I was out about in the beautiful city of Springfield - MO. So I wound up stopping at a Sprint Kiosk, and talking to the "manager" of it. He was SUPER nice and very shocked at my interest in the Evo. I guess maybe he thought my fiance would be the one spouting off the hardcore facts of the Evo...BUT ANYWAY...he said he doesn't get why none of the other Sprint stores in the area have a waiting list yet, and he added me to his. He also mentioned he was told the first week of June. So then I headed over to BB, and the mobile guy there said they had no info of any sort at this time, but told me to find their facebook page specifically the mobile department and they'd keep info posted on there. He said they usually pre-sale the phone about a week before release day, and its the $50 on a gift card.

I didn't think to ask him some of the questions I've gathered from this forum. Such as an actual hold on an Evo for buying into the pre-sale gig. Or anything along the lines of an early release of sorts for Reward Zone members. However they just called me in regards to a job there, so here's to hoping =) LOL

Just wanted to share my personal experience, that goes along with what most everyone else is experiencing on their end.

what do they cover? lost and damaged? water damage? nice deal.. better than spending 7 bucks a month from sprint.

He said it does cover loss/theft and also added:

As far as coverage, this endorsement opens up the covered perils to cover anything that could happen to the phones/computers (also called open peril coverage). Some examples include loss from power surge, accidental erasure, heat warping, damage from something spilled on the equipment, damage caused by dropping, etc. Again, all subject to a $50 deductible.

River, or anyone more knowledgeable than I,

Why do you think it has two WiMAX antennas? I know from CDMA they have the 850, and 1900 - but for WiMAX they have two in there -- one is bigger and takes more power than the other...

EDIT: Also, I don't use bluetooth, so excuse my ignorance, but is it the usual case to not be able to WiFi and bluetooth simultaneously?

Yes!!!!
Tt has a SIMULTANEOUS SAR EVALUATION

Which means you can use the wimax, wifi, and phone all at the same time.

IT will also do mimo 2x2.

Will also do 5 and 10mhz bands.

I don't know why I am excited about this, but I am! What does this exactly mean?

a coworker at my job just got her incredible. nice phone. i told her...yeah im getting a new phone just like that...its just bigger (and i was thinking better in the back of my head :D). hurry up june 6th....

Let me try to explain. First I can not type two day, broke my hand. So bear with me

"Which means you can use the wimax, wifi, and phone all at the same time."

Simply means that you can talk on the phone and play online video game on your pc, with hotspot, all at the same time.

"IT will also do mimo 2x2. Will also do 5 and 10mhz bands."

This is means that it can send and receive information on both at the same time.

For example. Let say that you are playing a online video game. And your friend wants to surf the web. The phone can us one radio to one tower to send and receive the game info, and the second radio to a second tower for the web surfing. This means that your connection to the game will not lag and he will not slow down. It basically will give you two wimax cards, each doing their own thing.

Does this also mean voice and data at the same time?

Voice, wimax, and wifi at the same time.

You can NOTY do

voice and 3g at the same time.
Wifi and bluetooth at the same time.

Voice and 3G? This is very, very, very surprising, since no other CDMA phone on the planet can do this. They are sending voice over WiMax? Or does Voice+3G work only when the voice is VoIP?

Remember, Sprint's official word:

Twitter / Sprint: @androidcentral Your story ...

"regarding HTC EVO simultaneous voice+data: Voice+Wi-fi=Yes, Voice+3G=No, Voice+4G=Still TBD, still being tested."

Sorry, I thought I said not, actually NOTY. Sorry.

Ugh I don't think River put it any more complicated than this:

Voice and 3G EVDO are on the same radio and therefore can not be used at the same time.

4G WiMAX is a separate radio so voice and 4G is a yes

Wifi is also its own radio so the same applies.

Ready for the stunner.

First, in most cases, the wimax is consuming half the power of the cdma radio. Good for battery life.

But this could be bad.

MAX. EIRP POWER 316mw.

So the EVO running on 4G could possibly save battery as opposed to it running on 3G? What's the bad part?

explain please
It could be something or nothing. The total watt output of the cdma radio is lower then I would thought it would.

This could mean a weak radio, bad reception, but also could be they improved spectrum efficiency, allowing for lower wattage to carry the same distance.

For example, htc incredible is alot higher at 407.

It could be nothing, but it could mean a weak cdma radio.

Sorry just reporting what I am reading.

The phone is great power wise. I am sure that they just installed the last and greatest radio that reduces power and increases range.

Well I hope it's not a weak radio, HTC phones have been having some issues with stuff like that lately (N1 and Incredible) so hopefully the Evo isn't another phone that has network problems. The N1 had that issue and still does for many dropping 3G and going to edge and the incredible has issues showing it's only getting like 1 or 2 bars when other phones in the same spot get full bars.
