If Apple beats Sprint to the punch in either marketing or getting the phone out Sprint is screwed. Sprint will have spent tons of time trying to be ahead of the curve only to see Apple take it away. Do you really think people will give up all their apps and sparkly phone when the evo is late to the game?

im going to get sick of explaining how the icrap is only the 4th gen and doesnt have a 4g network...it barely has a 3g network lol

I agree 100%. This proves why the marketing machine at Apple will push sprint around like a featherweight in a heavyweight match if they let Apple get any lead way in marketing or product offering. And it appears Apple has all ready blocked Sprint from touting 4g without competition with just a cunning theft of 1 number and 1 letter.

OK all - somewhat OT - but not as OT as my favorite sports team. It's mt favorite APP on my BB - and by the looks of things - there a huge problem with it playing Nicely with Android. SLACKER!!! Any comments?
We do have a sports thread now. Did you see it?

i heard it will be called the iphone hd

What????? No I am tired of waiting I can not wait till July/ August. I will go crazy, it is bad enough waiting since January. I guess I don't mind bugs as much as other's. I will root my Evo and their are sure to be bugs. I have dealt with bugs from my 6700-6900, and all the custom roms. So bugs on phones is part of my life. There is no such thing as a bug free phone.

S1dewinder, as far as I know barcode readers work in all versions of Android and they are not limited to Android. The iPhone has a barcode reader and so do many other camera phones that don't have Android.

I've seen QR Codes on business cards, brochures, fliers, posters, tickets, t-shirts and I have one on my business website on the contact page.

QR Codes are fun, but your phone won't be limited to those. Almost all packaging (if not all) has a barcode on it. You can scan that code with your phone, then you can choose to be directed to to a website with more information on the product or to a summary which gives the names of stores and their prices for that item. Really cool.

Thanks. I didn't realize regular scanners could read them too.

I agree to an extent. If the evo comes out after the new iPhone sprint is losing out on some potential new subscribers. A lot of the people will lock into a new 2yr contract on AT&T to get the new iPhone and they would have to pay a hefty ETF to leave. Hopefully this won't be an issue if the evo is released in June as expected. I'm sure sprint has some smart people working on their strategy for the evo launch so hopefully they don't drop the ball on this.

With a July or August release, the EVO will have a better chance than they would going head-to-head with the apple. I don't care that it will come later. People are going to buy the iPhone no matter what and Verizon customers are going to buy the Incredible no matter what. Neither one of those camps are interested in the EVO.

Now, if Sprint could have been ready my March or early April, that would have been a different ball game, but it didn't turn out that way. I say, let's wait a little longer and we'll have a better chance.

Look, all I'm saying is Sprint would be smart to delay the release just a little longer. As it stands the "official" release date is Summer, which is June 21st to Sept 20th. July or August is right in the middle. June 6 or June 13 are rumored release dates in the late spring, not summer.

If we're able to get our hands on the EVO early, then great. I'm just saying you shouldn't get your hopes up too high until something official is said. Self Praise, who's a tester said yesterday that the phone isn't quite ready and eieio said yesterday that part of the hold up is getting WiMAX deployed. One of the biggest selling points over the iPhone or the Incredible is 4G, so what good is it if there isn't much 4G around. At the rate they're going there should be a lot of WiMAX area in service by fall.

I don't see how waiting until August or later would help. Peeps will be under contract with iPhones. A lot of them. If you release a little before at least some of those people may choose the Evo. In August you'll still compete head to head but less potential customers. I personally wouldn't wait that long. I have a Centro on launch day and have been off contract since August. Waiting this long has been torture. Want to stay with Sprint but would have to bail for the Incredible if the Evo was 3+ months away or hope the N1 hit Sprint soon.

Sprint should just release the phone and keep it moving, we as consumers will get the buzz out ,and make them ipuppies want the phone by showing them that our phone is better than your in every way. Keep the faith about how good your product is and it will show in the end.

Even without 4G it's the best phone around. If it's ready release it if it's not don't. No matter when it's released the iphone will kick butt. That's the reality. I'm selfish I want the EVO as soon as possible I don't care if the iphone sells 10 times more phones. I know which phone is better. GIVE ME THE EVO ASAP!!!!
