Ok I am out for awhile..

Bill this was fun and I really am hoping for the May 22nd date..

Guys you all have been fun. I hit the road this week and wont be available to respond for awhile i think..

I have read several forums and this is the only one I felt compelled to register and post..

I really hope the EVO drops on the 22nd for us die hard fans that deserve it..

i know the evo will have the 7 home screen thing multitask going on, but i've only seen or heard this as relating to different apps being open. does this include being able to have different internet browsers open simultaneously?
TIA
yea, tabbed browsing

Alright I live in Florida, in Pompano Beach, i know Deerfield Beach has it and ft lauderdale has it/will get it. But I'm in between, will I get a signal or will it be coming in my area as well? Thanks in advanced.

Of course like everyone else I am excited to having this device in my hands whether that's May 15, 22nd, June 13th, August 1st. And it seems like these days can't go by quick enough.

That being said, i think the short-term excitement has got to be from this event being held the 12th. I know it's when we should learn of the official specs and I know its when we should learn the release date but I think anyone with Sprint or thinking of signing with Sprint has go to be happy with this bond/deal/partneship with Disney.

This partnership with Disney has got to (or should) put some ease on the whole media blitz that most of us have comments/suggestions about. There are soooo many options open to Sprint now. Commercials before any Disney movie, whether it be in theaters or on future DVDs. Coupons inside DVDs for Sprint phones or accessories. Contests held by Disney that have phones as prizes, or held by Sprint to getaways at Disney. I'm sure there are plenty more I can't think of right now.

Also anything that Disney owns can be partnered with Sprint as well. I do believe ESPN is owned by Disney, and as it was mentioned earlier AndroidOS on Sprint will have some types of ESPN apps.

I guess all I'm saying is, although we can all debate what was, is or should be, we can ALL agree that Sprint is in a much better position to take advantage of this phone then previous flagship phones (read: Palm Pre, etc.)

EDIT: I know my post is focusing on Disney, but I wanted to clarify that when I say Sprint is in a better position, I mean not just with this bond but just how the company seems to be getting up to speed behind Dan Hesse as far as CS, competitive pricing, etc.

Cache & Carey | Sprint 4G coming to South Florida this year

According to that article, Pompano Beach will be getting WiMAX.

Turns out I will get it, thought i'd bring it over here for those that live in Florida, and were talking about it. Thanks again SoFLO

Speculation Post by me

NY and LA are lit up and probably on track for the dates of the Premieres.

4g roll out is going better than expected.

I have know for a fact that the 4g coverage is greater than advertised.. It might not all be turned on at one time but the roll out is further along than advertised.

Wimax is going to be huge.. LTE is more hype right now.. Wimax is a home run..

I got more but will do it in stages
Awesome news! Any news on San Francisco Bay Area 4G status? Would be cool to have 4G when the phone comes out here.:o

I'm certain you will. Last week, eieio said the whole east coast from Miami to New England will be lit up during the next 30-45 days.

Question about the whole May 22nd release rumor/hope. Are we not mentioning the fact that the new BlackBerry will be released by Sprint on May 23rd (and would lose plenty of sales to the EVO) because since the EVO is the Sprint flagship phone we figure they care more about EVO sales than BlackBerry sales, or has everybody just overlooked that?

While I do think most if not all of Bill's points make wonderful sense, and I am hopeful that Bill is right on the money with the 22nd, I wonder what you all think as far as releasing the EVO the day before releasing the BlackBerry and how that may or may not affect Sprints decision making.

I could be wrong about the 22nd. At this point I'm only speculating. Most of my emphasis centers around the applesauce convention June 7-11 that was just announced. I can't help but think that would be a terrible release date for the EVO since most of the media attention at that time will center around Apple - not Sprint. I have not been following the BB deal and didn't know about a May 23rd release date.

Right now, I have to believe Sprint's emphasis has to center around their flagship, the EVO 4G and that's what they need to concentrate on. May 22nd seems like the perfect release date to me, but that's just me. One thing for sure, we'll learn more from the NYC event on the 12th. Until they tell me different, I'm still sticking with May 22nd.

I've been fine with June 6th or June 13th, but now with the the applesauce convention, I think it would be a disaster to release at that time. Yes, Sprint is going to have to push a little harder, but it's possible and it's only 2 weeks earlier. May 22nd would certainly make a lot more sense if they can pull it together.

Ok I lurked a bit and want to answer this.

4g is lit up in a lot of areas. But it is not available to the public yet.. I have no Idea why.

I have seen a few places that have been lit up and not available to the public yet, I have theories on why but I an not sure..

So While I have seen a lot of place that have active signals or are lit up and go live..

I have no rhyme or reason as to why they are not available for public consumption..

I wish I knew why but I don't..

Hmm... Mr. Blurrycam is making May 22nd seem a lot more probable if that's a finished phone. Won't get my hopes up, but I sincerely hope it turns out to be true.

Releasing the phone during WWDC would be a f***ing disaster.

I know it may not make sense and is not common, but the blackberry release should not sway EVO buyers in the least bit. I don't even feel like they should be considered as competing with each other for customers.

Blackberry is first and foremost a business phone.

You don't get a touchscreen Android phone for business. Just like you don't get a Blackberry for customization or apps.

If you are using a Blackberry especially for business. The EVO does not come into play yet.. It will, but most companies don't know that yet..

Blackberries are company staples, they work and deliver on time info, reliability and secure data.

The EVO has no use to smaller companies using Blackberries, now If you need 1000 plus evo for a corp in a 4g area, yeah we want to talk to you and give you a 30 day trial to see whats happening in the evo world.

Less than that they will smile and sell you all the B.B. you want..

Store commissions play into this as well.

Commission on Blackberry reality now money.

Commission on the EVO Fantasy promised money

I posted what you said this afternoon in the poll thread. They're sure a tough crowd over there.

All I'm saying Bill is don't get your hopes up. I have only heard June 6th and 13th. Where did the 22nd even come from. Was that fabricated by somone or waht?
If we are talking early release I still say May 28th. You know Prince of Persia release, Disney and Sprint in bed together, still an earlier launch to trump the iPhone. Come on the 28th is not that far off of the June 6th date that everyone likes. I keep saying on or around The Prince of Persia some say the 22nd some say not until June. I guess we will see. :)
