You mean people will not skip church to go get the EVO. Lol. If we look at the event on May 12th and figure two weeks after, we could be lookint at May 29th. Sprint could do a first and release the phone the 27th before the holiday weekend so people could travel with their EVO and take advantage of some of its offerings. Who knows, I would buy the EVO if a May is the month or when June comes. All I know is that I want my EVO.

AT&T has nothing to fear... most people have no idea what 4g is... and unless the evo proves its better then the iphone in ease of use and sprint proves to AT&T customers its gotten better AT&T has 0 to fear..

Verzion.. hmmm really has nothing to fear either. Same reasons above plus Verzion knows how to put phones out thier sprint does not.

For sprint to kick them both in the teeth and mind you this comes from someone that speaks to alot of people that have no idea what an evo is they need to do the following:
Advertise. Need commericals on all the most popular shows.
Evo billboards and evo advertisements
Commericals with it next to iphones and droids and showing why its better


to win against the juggernauts you gotta play their game. Get rid of Dan hesse in commercials and show off the DEVICES!
 
i dont know what to think anymore lol. may would be awsome, but there still seems to be a lot of work to do. Sprint has to build thousands in 3 weeks, which may or may not be possible (i dont know how fast they can be built), the media blitz has to take place, 4G has to be switched on in more major cities, the advocates need time (which they do already have 3-4 weeks if it were to be released in may), and the contest winners need to be anounced. The contest is my biggest factor. I think Sprint wouldnt release the Evo ATLEAST 1 week after the contest winners get there phones. The winners are selected may 21 i believe (correct me if i am wrong), and by the time they agree and get the evo shipped to them, thats probably a week. Then give them time to start blogging. So, with all that, I think the first week of june is still the best choice. But it would be amazing to have the phone in may.

Bill, your reasoning is very good, and makes sense. If you get this right, I will never doubt you again lol. I'm with you on hoping for a May release, but if it doesnt happen, i wont be surprised.

We are getting close to release everybody. I have been here since the day the evo was released at CTIA, and I remember when there were only about 7 or 8 regulars in here, and Jackson was still over at Sprint community forums. This thread has gone far, and now we just have to have fun until we get some solid facts from sprint.

Almost forgot about Eieio. You always have interesting posts. Thanks for all the info and opinions you've given us.

They wont be sold early but previewed early.

On 3g its the Incredible. On 4g its The EVO.. If the incredible excites you then this is a great phone. When you get 4g its a superior phone..

That is great news because it confirms EXACTLY what Jackson was saying quite some time ago and people were skeptical about.

And I had confirmed with Jackson a while back about the company I work for actually being one of those "major corporations," which would make sense because I work in the entertainment industry.

actually HTC makes them anyone have any idea how many phones a month htc churns out?
 
I never expected Tampa to have it before next year. Who could have guessed that they are already working on it? It would be great to have the 4G switch turned on not too long after i get the evo.

yea sorry meant to say htc. their build quality is amazing, so im not exactly sure on the build rate.

I know I must be missing one phone for the US market

Now they keep

only phones that keep running out our touch pro 2 and htc hd2. and I know the desire isnt here YET but its coming to US cellular.

I really wonder what their manufacturing line is like now. THe devices are small and on an assembly line. So maybe 50k total phones a week? Sprint probably got 20k dedicated to the evo. God I wish we had more information on thier manufacture capabilities.

I was told the phone is boxed and ready to be shipped.

Would a phone be boxed up, ready to ship and not be certified "gold"

There is a post that has the cities listed for 4g in Florida.. 60% of those cities (maybe more) have towers active already

I heard that for Tampa, the only reason they havent announced 4G development is because there are endangered birds living on the towers. Which is true. There is one tower near me that has some type of eagle living on it. I even have a picture:


taken by a photographer at my paintball field. The tower is near the field.

River, I think I'm starting to go over your head. I've mentioned so many times that a May release is possible. Of course it's possible if the device is seconds away from being "released ready." A late May release is possible, only if the EVO becomes Gold, which is any day now. Personally and this is my opinion, I feel that this device should be released on the 30th, day before Memorial's Day. Maybe even the 23rd? June blank is what I keep seeing, and people are not pleased with that. The EVO 4G is a Summer release, but again, plans do change. Okay River, I hope you understand what I'm saying now.

SP I think the major issue is not with you or anything you say is just that people in this thread are ready for the phone and the enthusiasm that we have for it we hope others will have. With that said they want Sprint to succeed with marketing this phone and thats why some speculation as to the different dates are coming up because to we feel to market properly it would need to be released on a given date.

I just want the phone and i am getting to the point that I could care less of how they market cause i know i will have one. That means I will be the talk of the party with my EVO not everyone with there blackberry or iPhone 2G,3G,3GS,HD,4G... and if there someone there with an Incredible I will show them what a real Android phone can do!!! And tell them how much cheaper my plan is than theirs.. :D

I have owned an iPhone but never got rid of my sprint account because of the plan price and the hope that Sprint will get up to speed with Verizon.. Not really worried about AT&T because their network is slow.

I saw no insults just questions..

I have gotten PM's and post questioning or asking me questions and I respond to them or I don't..

If you put info out there that is not known or believed by the masses its going to be questioned. That is how life works..

Either people believe what you post or they don't. If it is true then you have nothing to be upset about, it will come to light eventually
 
I know I posted this earlier but want to see if anyone had anything interesting to add.
Here are just some dates I pulled from Official Rules for the "Blaze Across America with 4G Contest" and other whispered dates. It just got me really excited to lay it all out and think how close we are!!! News should just start streaming in

4/21 – Start of “Blaze Across America with 4G Contest” Entries
5/9 – End of Entries
5/12 – Sprint Event in NY (Possible news!!!)
5/18 – Selection of Semi-finalists
Semi-Finalists will be awarded one (1) HTC EVO 4G phone along with free service for one (1) year. Because the EVO is not currently for sale to the public, the final retail value has not been determined. Semi-Finalist will be provided with an approximate retail value upon delivery of the device.
5/18 – Selection of Finalists
BLOG BONUS. One (1) Finalist will be awarded the Blog Bonus of $4,000.00 cash (awarded in the form of a check).
5/22 – Sprint Cup All-Star Race (Possible news/release I hope!!!)
5/26 – Blog voting begins.
5/28 – Prince of Persia opening.
6/6 – Possbile presale/best buy/release
6/13 – Possible release.
8/31 – Blog voting ends.
8/31 – Blog Ends.

I really think a release on the 22 or 23 is possible and is inline with a lot of media event possiblities.
