WOW I missed a LOT since I've been swamped at work! I didn't even know TS gave this thread a well-needed defibrillator jump start. Thanks TS by the way.

Anyways, I know the time is getting closer but here are some suggestions to help prepare for the coming of the God Phone. (pardon the blasphemy because the iPhone is the Jesus phone).

1. Sign up for a QIK account now:

2. Pick or design a skin from:
ZAGG | ZAGGskins | Cases, Screen Protectors, Covers, Shields, Skins, Invisible Shield

3. Pick a protector from ghost-armor.com, bodyguardz.net, zagg.com

4. Browse through the Android apps: Find great Android apps and games - AppBrain

5. Start looking for MicroSD cards?

6. Search twitter to see the buzz about the EVO. You'll run into a lot of misinformed people and some news you KNOW came from this forum LOL

7. Start organizing your media and files that you plan to keep in your EVO:
- music
- start compressing those DVDs into M4V/M4whatever
- clean up your contacts (might as well right?)
- documents (spreadsheets you use as reference? PDFs?)

8. Read other HTC or droid stuff like this:

9. Plan to express your support for Android at Apple's WWDC. I know I will :)

10. Read about 4G spreading - and tell your friends in those areas to sign up for Qik accounts:

I'd like to get my music ready for the EVO, so how does the android music player (with htc's mods as part of the newest sense seen on the desire/incredible) handle music files/libraries? Currently I use Slide2Play on winmo and winamp on my computer, but without an organizer program like itunes or wmp, I just have music organized in folders artist/album/song.mp3 with a "folder.jpg" in each album folder for album art, and good id3 info on all the files. It works perfectly with slide2play, so I'm hoping the android setup reads files similarly and doesn't require a syncing program like itunes.

Are you crazy? If I lived "right down the road from" an htc headquarters, I would honestly be inside that building right now wearing all black and walking out with an EVO, which I would promptly show off here. There is no shame in the evo itch, embrace it and go break in there.

This is a snapshot of folders on my microSD card as viewed in Windows Explorer. My music is stored in the MUSIC folder in mp3, m3u (which might be a carry over from my Instinct) and wma format. I'm not sure what other formats are supported. My movies are in the MEDIA folder and are 3gp, but I have some of my own movies created with Pinnacle Studio in mp4 format. I'm not sure what other formats are supported.

The stationery is for my business and the price list is there so I can e-mail information when I'm out of the office.

When I ran the music widget the first time, it searched the SD card and displayed all my music with album cover art and all. Then all you do is make play lists.

So this is somewhat off the current topic, but has anyone else read the fine print for the Evo "Blaze Across America" sweepstakes?

So...about that May 22nd? I'm all for it (I'm good for an upgrade as of 5/1/10, and am currently stuck on a LG Fusic since my Rumor died), but am I the only one who thinks these blogs are to build excitement, and that wouldn't happen if the phone was already released to the general public.

Bay area is a hot spot of 4g activity. there is a triangle of big name companies (Intel, Cisco and can't remember the third.. maybe Google?) that are doing wimax developement with Clear and I suspect when they roll out SF, it will be some pretty nice coverage for the bay.

Purely speculation on my part, but seems logical. Seems like Eieio has confirmed that we are good to go here too.
 
I couldn't believe that it is so close to where I live. I decided to check out where they are located because in a picture that was posted earlier (the "we have to many evo pics post") I noticed in the weather widget it said Bellevue and remembered another one that said Seattle. Checked out the address in google maps and figured out that I actually drive by it all of the time.

Hmm I should go down to Wallyworld and see if they have any ninja costums in stock ;)


Maybee i'll try and pop in playing dumb asking for the bathroom, and check all of the doors on the way... yeah I need a life lol

The OTHERS folder was created automatically to store faxes which I have e-mailed to me. I was trying to get set up so I didn't need to carry a laptop, but my Hero didn't quite make it. That's why I'm so hopeful for the EVO 4G.

Edit: Guess I should add that some of my apps created folders also.

Good, you are getting close. The key word is "was" not supported for wimax. But the current 2.1 is, hence the code. They are not modding it to get it to work, they already have it working. Jackson is proposing it is currently happening, but it has already happened. You see there are two versions of elcare 2.0 and 2.1. 2.0 did not support wimax. 2.1 does. Oh but you where soo close, you could have tasted it. not me. I went through the big announcement speculation no show on the Incredible thread. everyone was super disapointed, tempers flared, but they basically survived. I'll just grab a bowl of popcorn and watch this thread go nuts ;) I don't mean bad nuts either. Just frantic "what happened? did anyone hear anything yet" kind of posts :)

FOr metropolitan areas, LA is massive, but that includes many cities, all stacked on top of each other. Don't get me started on the 405-101 interchange...

I used to work right near that spot, at the movie theatre where they filmed parts of Fast Times at Ridgemont High. They tore down that mall though. So sad.
 
This has been a real good friendly thread all along, then yesterday tempers started to flare and the thread was closed until this afternoon after everything was cleaned up. Did you miss all that? I hope it doesn't happen again, because it wasn't pretty. People are just getting antsy and I have to admit, it isn't easy to wait this long, but we should have some new news next Wednesday.
 
Yea I agree, that doesn't look pretty at all, kinda zebra like. I've always been the all black type person. IMO it jus looks better, hides dirty or other wear and tear, looks more professional.

Edit: I just noticed if u pause at :50-:51, the camera looks ALMOST as flushed with the rest of the phone. I remember a while back people were complaining saying that it would be weird having the camera stick out and would worry about the camera getting messed up.
 
You know...this is just a bit of late night verbal splatter...but I'm just not sure I can be as prepared as some of you "enthusiasts" will be for this phone. Okay...so I'm thinking about Ghost Armor for the screen protection since Steinheil isn't currently making for the EVO 4G....and I'm tempted to get a micro sd card....but need someone to push me....go ahead....tell me I should....and also....please explain in baby terms (because I've managed to not absorb this information after lurking for what seems like an eternity).

Have we ever determined that we will be able to store apps....or will the micro sd be for music, photos, and video?

And....I'm sure I'll search....but I'll ask anyway....is there a 32mb micro sd on the market? I remember someone linked to the 16mb version earlier...and discussion about the 32mb being supported...correct?

Anyway....I know I'm blabbering...it's late! So the Ghost Armor....maybe the micro sd...and then what? Perhaps protection for the back....or what?

I guess what I'm asking is....at a minimum...what should I have on hand from day one? Okay...I know this isn't an accessory thread...so let me just say...glad to see everyone back....and happy. I hope our phone drops soon...and can't wait for May 12....with the highest of hopes!

Yeah...have to say...not a fan of that color combo. Gonna go with the black version...even with a completely white one....just have to say I like the more masculine look of the dark version. Now...if they want to come out with an Austin Powers black and white with checkered flag version....I might be on board....yeah baby...YEAH!
