Hey guys long time lurker here. Been following this thread for awhile. Little background was a windows mobile guy for a bit had the ppc 6700 then the touch and then the touch pro i now have a HTC hero which i bought at bestbuy with the 2 day early rewards zone thing and so now I am a big fan of android and have been impatiently waiting for the release of the The EVO. Not sure if this has been posted yet but its Specs from Walmart but it seems to have some Specs listed that I have not seen anywhere else like an OLED screen not sure if its correct info but here is the link.

HTC EVO

I guess we get back to the question now of will Sprint let you buy the phone without that feature on it? I really really want this phone, but I have a broadband contract with sprint until the middle of next year which I don't see them letting me out of so that I can use my phone for the same feature.

You don't have to buy the hotspot plan if you don't want to. It's extra so you can opt out of it. No biggie.

I don't know about the OLED because if you look down further on the spec sheet it says you can use VZ Navigator lol. Verizon wishes they were getting this phone, I think it is just INCREDIBLE! lol :)

don't even start. Californians pay 9.25% on tax!

Yeah and we also pay 400k for 1100 sq ft houses, we do it to ourselves by being greedy out here and over charging for property and everything else, makes the costs of everything go up and then it costs more to support the state because everything is so expensive. Not only that but our "honest" business owners like to hire undocumented workers for cheap labor so these generous owners can put even more money into their already overly full pockets, greed is what's messing up this state and making our taxes be what they are, well that and our property taxes are too low compared to what we pay for the homes.

Just to put this back on topic, GO EVO! lol

Hello all. Been lurking for a while now. Can't wait for the EVO. My Dad is excited about it too (62!). I've been teasing him with all the juicy info I get from here.

Bad news is my local BB doesn't sell Sprint phones. It seems up here in Central NJ they either sell TMobile or Sprint. Only select BB's sell Sprint, so I have to go searching for one. Alas...

Also I was wondering how can I take a DVD and download it so I can upload it onto the EVO. I'm about to get into P90x and I was thinking instead of working out at home (and spending all this money on extra equipment) I'll just take my EVO with my P90x videos loaded on it to the gym and do the workout there. It will act as my TV propped up on the kickstand. After a while I'd probably get people trying to do it with me crowded around my EVO! :)

I just got P90X on Monday! LOVE IT!!!!!!

Be nice if they could allow free hotspotting for whatever number of lines you have with them. That would give me 2, which is all I'd really ever want/need. Then they could charge per connection/daily or a monthly fee. I'd imagine a PC/daily fee would be more useful for people who travel into a 4G area but don't live in one - giving them access to any Evo user. Otherwise, charging a monthly fee really only helps for people who live in a 4G area - a much more limited pool.

Don't want to change the subject but p90x is great. Been all the way through it. Good workout.

On the EVO it would be great because of the mobility

Best workout routine, EVER! I'd love to be able to rip down the videos to the microSD and do some of the workouts at the gym, especially with the Pullup machine that has weighted assistance.

-EDIT- Forgot to add, "Do your best, and forget the rest!"

DISCLAIMER: Just so you know, I completely disagree with the following statement.

Again, i completely disagree with this, but as most people have believed everything else stated by this user (he has had some spot on info) then maybe they would like to believe this as well.

Yea that can't be correct.. My company also makes cell phones (not HTC) but i know that it can not be done. we have to buy all new mfg equipment to build 4G phones.

Drtysfl21 - if you've already done P90x (I have) the second time you won't even need the DVDs. Just download a PDF copy of the schedule (or link to one online) for what you should do that day. As to your question though, I'd recommend you download a copy to your mSD card through a video conversion tool. I haven't done that in a while but I use DVD Xcopy which worked with most movie formats.

Some of the P90x DVDs have Ab Ripper X on them so don't waste time/resources copying multiple times.

I never got any answers to this the first two times I posted so here it goes again.
I can't believe we haven't seen a lot more videos or pics of the Evo "in the wild". Usually by now some employee will post a twit pic or make a youtube video. Do you think we might see an influx of these, almost a viral campaign after the 12th?

Well the leak today on androidcentral is pretty leak-tastic.

Perhaps Sprint is being very tight about releasing information. Until very recently, no one ever saw an Apple phone in the wild until release.

Correct!

Just like modifying the firmware in a car with a V6 won't change it to a V8. Its hardware dependent.

I know we don't need more confirmation, but this is a very good analogy. WiMax does not use any hardware currently on any US phone, so no amount of software rejiggering will make them use WiMax. The EVO is unique.

I apologize if I took this off topic with talk of P90x. But are there any programs out there that will break a DVD down to SD card size?

GO EVO!!!

To do that would violate about 200 US laws. Would be ripped from the sprint soo fast it would take a body part. And would guarantee every phone that was listed for sale would get pulled.

This is not only illegal, but highly illegal, like criminal charges.

You have to state all, ALL, functions of the device. All of them.

Even if they have nda with the fcc, dont you think the people ripping apart the phone would go, oh look a wimax card.

I am sorry, but that is just plan silly.

Do you mean the laser I thought that HTC might be adding as a surprise to the Evo is not there? Maybe they don't want to list it so kids don't find it. :)

Try Handbrake. :) Seems to be the easiest. I believe another thread was started a few days ago in these forums to address video conversion for the EVO.

IMO, That's a great analogy to help people understand better.

I was thinking about what his friend might've meant or thought and maybe (just maybe) he was talking about connecting to 4G via wifi on a 4G enabled device. That would certainly be possible, correct?

Don't have an Android phone to try this with but any search of "ripping dvd to android phone" will yield results you can check out. DVDs hold a little under 4.5GB of info so you can comfortably get an uncompressed movies on a card. I'd recommend compressing though because unless you're going to output onto a quality screen, using uncompressed video from DVD is probably wasting space. You could watch HD signal on a 4.3" monitor, but you're not going to see or hear all the informtion because even the might Evo is not capable of doing all things.
