Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Well they may claim that the HD2 has sold out and also that the increadible has sold out but last time I walked into best buy which was on the release date of the Increadible at like 4pm they had 9 left in stock and when I went to radio shack 2 days after the HD2 was released they had 2 in stock so the whole idea of them being sold out is more of a advertising thing.

Sold out probably means below a certain inventory level. Every time I've heard sold out, the local TMo by me says they have them in stock. They even said the sold out reports are stopping people from coming in. I also don't doubt low inventory because it's not likely that TMo would have bet huge on HD2 because it's WM6.5 and TMo's network (sales potential) is noticeably smaller.

I just got off the phone with retentions and they agreed to give me a reoccurring $10 service credit for renewing my contract. This will mitigate the $10 upcharge for the Evo.

I know everyone is saying it is only $10, but when you are going from a $30/mo SERO plan, having to more than double that is a bitter pill to swallow.

Now that Sprint has shown that they do value me as a customer (by offering the $10 monthly service credit) I can feel better about signing up with them for 2 more years.

So if you are currently out of contract, give it a try.

I'm holding on on the pre-order waiting for someone to post what RS is gonna do...if there is any chance at an early release as speculated by Blue (not sure why I should believe him any more (sorry Blue)) then I'll go with RS.

If anyone stops in to RS before I can get to one can you post any info? I haven't even seen Shack doing any pre-orders yet?

you could always pre-order at bb and get the $50 gift card. if you find out later that rs will have the phone first, you can cancel your pre-order (or never show up to get the phone) and use the gift card for something else. everybody buys something at best buy, right?

Encouraging, thanks!

Did you upgrade to EPRP over the phone? I am also on the 30 dollar sero plan and out of contract. I was thinking of calling in to upgrade to EPRP and to get the credit for signing a new 2 year contract, making sure to keep my upgrade credit intact. After that go to best buy or radio shack to buy the evo.

Can I ask you what your process was to get that going as far as which # you called, if you asked to go right to retentions, and what you said? I'm in the exact same boat that you're in and I'd love to have your results.

How is the 450 SEP + 4G Coverage cheaper than VZW's plan? Near as I can tell, when you add 500 SMS/MMS ($10) it comes out to the same...so really, with Sprint if you live in a 3G area your price is the exact same, for the same functions, as VZW - the one difference is that with Sprint you have unlimited texting and VZW is capped at 500 (unlimited to other VZW subscribers). Just looking to clarify.

$350 ETF vs. $200. Unlimited texting as you cite. 7PM nights vs. 9PM. Not sure if VVM is included on Sprint. If so that's another $3 savings.

did you get a $70 immediate credit? that is standard when renewing. If not Call them back!!! (I got both when I renewed)

I didn't go the EPRP route. I can get enough of a corporate discount so that it would put my bill at the same price as EPRP and I will be able to qualify for Premier status.

Well, I'm looking forward to getting the new Evo. I'm also glad that it's being released on the 4th instead of the 6th.

For everyone else who's tempted to do as I did and read the 10 pages or so that were posted last night - don't. Here's what they say:

(Warning! Humor/Sarcasm to follow)

-------------------------------------------------------

June 4th, w00t! Not the 6th? Nope, the 4th! Who lied and said the 6th? Told you so. No you didn't.

$199 and $449. $449, really? Really! That's cool. That IS cool!!!

Who has a link? Anybody have a link??? WHERE'S MY LINK?!?!?!?

A $10 fee for "Premium Data add-on". It's required. That sucks! No, it's optional. I don't even have 4G! It's not a 4G fee it's a "data" fee, and it's required. Optional. Required! Optional!! (That goes on for about 3 pages.) Who lied and said there was no fee? He did! Did not. Did too.

$29.99 for hotspot service. I thought it was $10! Is it $10? No, it's $30. Who lied and said $10? It was what I was told - someone lied to me!

Oh cool... videos!!!

Circles are still there on the buttons. But you can barely see them! Doesn't matter, they're there. Whatever dude. But I can SEE them!!!

Simultaneous voice and data! Really? Really! w00t!!

Have another drink, BlueScreen!

Best Buy is the best place to pre-order from. No, Radio Shack gets theirs first! Best Buy! Radio Shack! Are you guys arguing AGAIN???

This is too expensive now with all these fees! Whiner. Who lied and said the cost wouldn't go up... let's get him! Look, just pay up or shut up, dude.

Required.

Told you so.

One of the best posts of this thread....thank you for making my morning!!! You're a hoot!! :D

IF RS does allow pickup of the phones May 29th, are their any other real advantages

going through them? I have very little experience w/ RS and i know BB offers the

black tie protection for $9.99/mo...does RS offer any "good" insurance type program? I'm thinking of using some type of insurance to begin with

after receiving this beauty :D

My only concern with the white case is the "chrome" looking plastic gets scratched and looks like crap after a while. But that is incredibly sharp. Also, the one black case can change the color of the other half. I didn't realize that before.

Also, the box is pretty damn cool too lol

I called the customer service number and asked for retentions. I told the person I spoke with that I have been out of contract and waiting for the Evo to come out. Said I was not happy that I had to double my bill in order to get an Android device, but I had accepted it. However, the additional $10 upcharge was just ridiculous and a deal breaker. Told him that I could get faster (HSDPA+) performance on T-mobile and get a similar device in the HD2.

I said I was aware of the $10 service credit for renewing my contract and asked if they could offer it to me. The person said yep, no problem.

Wow that was epic.

Does anyone know for sure if the $10 upcharge applies to every EVO on a family share plan, or just to the plan?

The way I read it, it's a device-specific charge. I really think they should have just called it an Evo surcharge.

If you don't have an Evo, nothing's changed.
