Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

BB 9650 is available today - almost a week early. Why does that matter? I'm hoping that the Evo is getting an earlier than June 4 release.

All along, I've been hoping May 22/23 and this brings that back into the picture as an outside possibility. Not sure how they'd handle the phones that have been pre-ordered other than release them and let people have until scheduled appointments or the 1-2 day period they agreed to hold them after June 4.

I'm also hoping Sprint's interpreted the pent up demand and not-heavily-advertised pre-order period as a signal to go ahead and just get this baby in people's hands.

Smaller screen and fewer features would have hurt sales so this was inevitable for the phone and network. I see it more as a shot that will impact ATT though since VZW probably isn't getting any iPhone love this year. New iPhones tend to be pretty darned expensive and ATT's already bumping up upgrade eligibility dates in the hopes that they aren't going to lose too many people.
 
GM all. Another day closer to the evo 17 days left yay!!! Or maybe less as I was told by my BB sales guy that said they might get it 1 week early!!!!!!!!! I hope so. I have to take a business trip on 6/2 ARG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So if I dont get it before I leave Ill have to wait till 6/10 till I get my phone!!!!

Isnt the iPhone priced by Apple and not AT&T? Was the 3Gs 199.99 or 299.99 last year?

But I do agree, the Incredible going to a cheaper price and the EVO being at 199.99 will hurt AT&T. If Apple release the iPhone "Whatever"(I will not call it 4G) at a higher price than the EVO, with it still having less spec's it could hurt, and have some AT&T customers moving.

The one thing I question about AT&T and Apple's contract....if you were Apple and were held exclusively to this carrier....why would you want said carrier carrying other phones that are direct competition, regardless of if its inferior or not?

AT&T will have more Android, and WebOs phones, to give their customer's variety...sure they price them enough where it makes the iPhone worth it. But still, they could still take away some iPhone sales.

Two of the guys at the Sprint store in Carmel/Westfield (N. Indianapolis) got their EVO's on Friday , they are both part of the Sprint Advocacy program. I would be lead to believe that these videos, considering the times they were rls'd were shot by a Sprint employee that is also part of the Advocacy program. (might be a developer or HTC person...who knows)

I'm pretty close friends with one of the guys and if he free's up this week I'll definitely try to shoot a video of usage with it (Indianapolis only has 3G speeds at the time) but I know he has been in love since receiving it...he is coming off using a Hero prior (didn't like the TP2)

I'm shooting him a text right now to take a couple of short videos and some still pics...send them to my email, so I can share with everyone on here...

I figured when I hopped on this thread after being away from it since last Friday, some more content than these two youtube vid's would have surfaced...guess not.

Exclusivity binds both ways. I think Apple's stuck knowing they cannot release a true 4G phone with ATT and does not have enough weight to block all other phones. At this point, I also think Apple's ok since they know this summer's phone really isn't going to be dramatic - it's just an upgrade. I don't think it would be in Apple's best interest right now to have people jump ship from ATT because I believe the biggest sales potential will be from existing ATT customers looking to upgrade. I hardly see the same masses from years past jumping ship for this summer's phone so Apple wants to make sure they don't lose the stronghold they have on Fanboy Nation.:cool:

Bet you're right on this one. Going to see a bunch of reviews 1-2 days before Evos show up in retail stores. I'll be looking for them by Thursday/Friday this week.

Eieio, if you are around, I am curious... do you know if they are using Sprint towers for Wimax, or the Nextel/sprint towers?
I ask because when I was on Nextel, great signal, from a tower less than 2 miles away, with Sprint, we get marginal coverage at the house, and need Airwave to supplement.
 
Bet 32gb microSD will be much more widely available by late summer for under $100. Near $200 is more than what typical consumers will fork over so Sandisk will come down and others will start making and selling them as well.

I'll bet that by the end of this year, we will see the 32gb microSD card go down to around 50-60 dollars.

Ok, I just got back from the sprint store, and they had an evo!!! I knew they did, but this time they let me play with it for 10 mins. It is HUGE!!!! but soooo awesome. I cannot wait until 6/4, it's gonna be a great day. There was only one problem with my visit...once I got it in my hands I was so dumbfounded by its beauty that I didn't really do anything with it other than look...lol. I did have the presence of mind to open qik and try it out. It worked great, no lag at all and really really nice picture. The guy I spoke to said no pre orders but he may be able to hold one for me on release day. I asked about the $10 and he had to ask what it was for, the general concensus was that it was for 4g network expansion. He said that 4g would be launched in orlando, jacksonville and miami this year and would be here, tallahassee, at the beginning of next year.

HOLY CRAP IT'S AWESOME!
