Thank you S.meezy. Yeah, funny how that worked out, but I was hoping everyone would have their EVO's today! I will say this; the phone meets or exceeds all of my expectations.

Is there anything specifically you do not like about the phone? Nothing is "perfect" and I'm wondering what it is specifically about the phone that you may not like too much...

Such as the power button that Engadget (?) had noted, etc...

First of all, I love the phone and probably wouldn't change anything. The only negative that comes to mind is the on/off button at the top of the phone, because it is hard to find. I liked my Hero better, because all I had to do was double-click the Home button and it was ready to go. With the EVO, you have to fiddle around to find the button and then you have to swipe the screen to unlock it. I love the big screen and the speed is so much better than the Hero.

Welcome back Bill
Thank you, sir. :)

Bill,

I live near Tampa Bay area.. Congrats on getting EVO! I'm wondering did the service have 4G in tampa area ?
I don't think we'll have 4G here for another month or so, although we might get lucky and have it on launch day, but I'm not counting on it.

Can you make the meet tomorrow at the Marriott?

Bill,

You're going to make me cry. I want my EVO so bad right now. Congrats though, at least one of us gets to be. And be sure to get up plenty of 720p shots that camera looks ace from what I've seen. Thanks!

I'm going to do my best. I've never uploaded to YouTube, so that's something else I have to learn.

Edit: Yes, Swype came on the Omnia, but that was a special thing as part of a Samsung phone. HTC and/or Sprint have never included Swype by default on a device, and I haven't heard anything about that starting now.

The Tmobile HD2 comes with Swype preinstalled.

PS - I want to give special thanks to TS for not giving up on me and for encouraging me to come back here.

Welcome back - glad you were able to make amends. It is after all, just a phone.

Let's leave the past where it belongs - in the past. Bill came back and offered an open invite to get a great preview of the device. That says a lot about character so I tip my hat off to that. Again, June 4th is literally right around the corner. So let's continue to welcome Bill back here and maybe he'll be open to answering questions

On that note: Bill - how solid does the back cover feel while it's on the phone? Does it feel well assembled and as "snug" as the Hero and Nexus one?

Sorry Bill - edited my post and added the question:

Just mean we are happy to have you here!!
Oh, shucks... I'm really happy to be here. Thanks...

When you remove the back cover it feels flimsy and flexible. It's very thin, but when it's on the phone it feels rock solid and it has a very nice feel. It doesn't have the rubbery coating or feel that my Hero has, but I like it.

Oh and a few questions for everyone:

the EVO will be my first Android phone ever, so I just wanted to know - who pushes out the Android updates? Is it the carrier or HTC? Also, given that the Nexus One is already getting the Froyo update, does that mean EVO's will be getting them too?

I'm just not sure how HTC or google or sprint handles android updates but it seems to take a pretty long time (given that their Hero and Moment devices finally just got the 2.1 update)
