Has anyone here seen any advertisement for the Evo outside of the net, RadioShack, BestBuy & Sprint? It's like the phone doesn't even exist. I haven't seen or heard anything about it outside of those limited areas. Wasn't there supposed to be a huge ad blitz or something? It's so strange.
i wish i could get one...the area im in is most likely gonna get terrible wimax signal (hilly area).

Hmm I wonder what kind of range they have. I heard a rumor about sprint and clear putting wimax towers in walmarts some kind of partnership or something. If its true, I think if would be a great way for Sprint/Clear to expand. There are tons of walmarts and radio shacks across the country.

Hey guys I'm a part of XDA and people from this thread Swype for the EVO? - Page 2 - xda-developers have said they've installed it on there htc evo and that its confirmed that swype works good!! and the dl link is in post #3 so if anyone want to check it out and give it a try go ahead... and if you can, give us all some feed back...so we know whats what.. I call it one hand helps the other!!! I wish I had the EVO myself cause I'd try it for myself and say whats what!
Hey V I know this is kinda off topic, but do you think its possible that you great guys and gals at xda can come up with a way to unlock the capabilities to display any screen using HDMI output to a HDTV? I heard that its limited to videos and or photos only.

OK Guys and Gals my friend just installed the SWYPE keyboard from that XDA link I posted and it installed and he said it worked good, actually I seen it as well b/c we were on web cam..but it was a quick test... so if anyone else wants to install it and give further feed back that would be greatly appreciated or if I can I will once my friend messes w/it more!! So looks like we have some progress here!!!

Just got back from a Sprint store. Definitely switching to Sprint. Definitely getting the EVO. Wasn't too hard of a decision after the rep offered me 27% off my rate plan.
Sprint stores ftw.

I was JUST about to post this same thing. Thanks for doing it first. I had thought there would be a "huge media blitz" but there's absolutely nothing on TV. Just a bunch of Droid Incredible ads for Verizon. Come on Sprint....anything at all???

Im in the same boat as you... I'm switching to Sprint from AT&T But I'm using the Tilt 2 and I'm getting that same sweet ass 27% as well!!! that helps a lot b/c on AT&T I'm currently get 28% so I'm not missing much switching to Sprint, actually getting more!!! Bring on the Evo!! Today @ bestbuy I held the htc evo dummy phone so I was to get an idea of how it felt in hand and what not! felt nice!

hey ya'll...just want to know what people think about some of the things critics had to say about the evo. they were saying that the battery dies really fast and when using the phone, reception is really bad, not because of the signal but because of the evo? can anyone who has the evo already confirm any of these accusations?

So. I'm on AT&T. How the hell have you people gotten Sprint to take that much off of your plan pricing? As far as I've read, you just ask, but I'm... not great at that. I just have the sense that if that's what they're asking, that's what I'll be paying--that if I were to ask, they'd just kind of look at me in a humorous manner, and say, "Uh... no?"

I went into a store and told them I was "thinking" about switching services. Mentioned that with online purchase I could have activation waived and $50 credit per line, plus company discount. They said they could waive activation. I said what about $50 credit per line.
Sprint:"We can't do that, but how much is your company discount?"
Me: 17%
Sprint: "Well, we can give you 27%"
Me: Sign me the F up.
Except for the last line, that is exactly how I did it. They must have really good employee incentives for getting new subscribers. I have to use mail in rebates, but I'm getting almost an extra $20 off per month for 5 lines, from an already good discount.
You don't need to ask, just lead them to think you're on the fence, or have a better offer elsewhere. Let them think the iPhone might be in your future. (i know, try not to laugh)
Also, Sprint TV Premier is extra, even for EVO's.

Since you have the backup of the preorder, you're in a great position. Go to a Sprint store and pretend you're on the fence or not sure, use our suggestions, and if they don't bite, no big deal, you still get an EVO on day one. Or go to a different store. If they do bite and you get a sweet deal, for F's sake take it. Then you can use your $50 BB GC for some accessoriesand you're out nothing. You've got a fallback position that they don't know about, you can ask for the world and not care about the outcome.
Also, when they asked about my company discount, they didn't ask for proof, or a company email. You could just make up a number. Ive seen on forums that store reps have added 10% onto whatever is already there, that's what happened with me.
can you link us to a place where this is being claimed? i have read fairly extensively on the evo and i have not heard this. yes, the battery will drain more quickly if you are in a non-4G city and you have your phone constantly searching for 4G.
be interested to read these complaints.
