Yup you'll lose everything. Sorry about that. You didn't necessarily have to lose everything if you root (different conversation).
 
Yes 2.2 has BING, but Google Search Bar widget is on 2.2 --


It took mine only 6 min to download & install.
 
Ag....no you dont but i would recommend it anyways. i lost nothing. it does put all the screens back to the original way they looked out of the box. all the custom backgrounds are still there as is my music, files and pictures.
 
Wow this is a big surprise....especially for those "you will NEVER get 2.2 on the Fascinate" guys....DOAH.
 
OMG did u guys notice that verizon pimped it out...it has an extra unf! Everything is darker...the status bar...this is amazing!!
 
Downloading now in Central Ohio. I just did my obligatory daily update check; didn't expect to see an actual update.
 
Okay, my update installed, but I, too, now have a totally jacked up phone. I get that same error as Agapens: "The process com.google.process.gapps has stopped unexpectedly." The only thing I can think of is that I was using LauncherPro before I updated. Is that's what's messing it up? I can't even use the phone... nothing. I can't get into any settings to reset it, and I've already tried taking the battery out and putting it back in and starting it up again.

I seriously need help. Someone? Please???

I was using launcherpro too and everything just came back on like normal...maybe do a factory reset?

I initially had this issue as well. My solution may not work for anybody else, but seeing that the issue was with a Google module, I uninstalled Google Voice and Google Translate (while the repeated errors were occuring, so I had to fight through them). Shut the phone down, pulled the battery, replaced the battery, booted back up and after some rather a few initial vibrates apparently for no reason, the phone is now working perfectly.
 
It was the google search widget that was causing the force close for me. I had to boot up the phone and press the power button as soon as the verizon logo went away to put the phone into airplane mode. Then I just hit force close every time it popped up while everything loaded in the background. Eventually I was able to get the setting menu up and to uninstall google search. Now its fine.
 
Okay, I was able to sneak through the tiny windows between "force close" errors and uninstall every google app (including google search) I could find through the settings menu. I also uninstalled Launcher Pro. I hope I can re-install that once this mess is sorted out. Android Market is still giving me an error. I want it to be fixed so I can play with Froyo!!

[update: works fine after uninstalling google search and restarting. so weird. launcher pro works fine now too.]

On that note, what new stuff should I do with my new shiny 2.2?
 
Anyone running ADW EX have any problems? Mine won't install.....is that because of google maps, nav., earth, etc.?
 
Ever since I updated mine I can no longer take screenshots. Anyone else have this problem?
To clarify, I am using "shootme"
 
I am also having the com.google.process.gapps problem w/ random vibrations. I saw someone said to uninstall google search, but it doesn't seem to be an app you can uninstall.

Any tips / revelations?
