Went to 10 stores in NYC today (3 Best Buys, 4 Radioshacks, 2 Verizon Resellers, and 1 Verizon Corporate store).

Depending on the store I got one of following answers from them:

  • The phone is not out yet *Looks at me as if I'm the 50th person to come in and ask today*
  • Verizon hasn't released this phone yet
  • We haven't gotten any information on a release date
  • The phone has been pushed back
  • It was supposed to come out on Friday but got delayed
  • We are not allowed to sell them at this time ,*hands me his card*, call me back this week and I'll let you know if we can sell it

Needless to say, nothing but disappointment today. :(

Thanks for saving me a trip to the same 10 stores I would've gone to. Kudos for trying.

Ok so my stories: The Best Buy nearest to my house wouldn't sell me it. Wasn't left with much info. Went to talk to a friend who works at another Best Buy. She took the papers up to her manager (I printed out the receipt from here) the manager pointed out how the receipt was full of 999s (as I had noted before my quests today) and how they 'did not sell a plan with the phone' I understand that the plan should print on the receipt and the store basically screwed the store out of a commission by doing it the way they did. Verizon wont pay them right for a phone that doesn't get rang up properly in the system.

:(

Well I just sent an email to try my luck at getting the $100 mailer discount added to my account. I figured it couldn't hurt to try. I'm off contract so hopefully that helps. Has anyone figured out how they have been deciding which customers are receiving the mailer?

3 requirements:
1. 3g phone currently
2. over 2gb data used per month
3. you're in the jackpot region (it's regional)

You're kind of late to the party, but ok.

I don't care, but I'm sick of hearing about him. I'm seeing more and more nutty fanaticism where he can do no wrong. I simply do not think he deserves all this attention. You said it yourself - he thanks his team. He's at the helm, his crew wins for him. Obviously he's talented. He's in the NFL. But as I said, I simply don't see his being deserving of all the attention/hype.

If you believe my dislike for him is due to his religious beliefs, you could not be more wrong. I don't care which god you worship, nor do I care how you do it. To imply that I'm a bigot simply for believing what I believe about him says a lot. I could equate it to other things, but I will stay away from politics/religion...as that always causes problems.

I'm not a hater, or a bigot, or anything you want to call me. I think Jay Cutler sucks, and he gets a ton of attention. I think Brady wouldn't be half as good as he is if he didn't have such an amazing team around him. Terrel Owens...a circus side show. An incredibly gifted athlete, but why did he get so much attention? Because of who he is OFF the field. I merely observe. If that makes me a bigot, then I'll be a bigot. But that doesn't change my opinion that Tebow gets far too much attention for mediocre performance - and I stated before, it's probably because of his religious beliefs he gets so much of it!

Can we stop talking about him now?

So OT that it has sailed off of the side of the earth:

Late to the party? Check your join date, Mr. 2011. ;) Just because I don't flap my gums all day doesn't mean that I'm not around for a minute or two here and there. I just have a really well-developed spam filter between my ears, and do far more listening than talking.

I most certainly am not a religious person. While I didn't directly accuse you of bigotry, in hindsight, I must have recognized "the tone" in your post and reacted to it. I happen to be well-acquainted with "the tone", because due to the color of my skin, I'd been exposed to it quite often in the past. I've found that people who bring up skin color (and religion) are often the ones hung up on it. You say you have no issue with his religion. I'd say the only person who can judge that is you.

The funny thing is that the traditional sports outlets don't mention his religion all that much anymore, except occasionally, almost as a curiosity, and yet it is all about that, at least to some people, who happen to bring up... religion.

6-1 after 1-4, with some amazing wins, with his own teammates crediting his leadership, including defensive players. Time after time. If it's all about religion, then I'd say that he turned a politically incorrect liability into an asset.

If I were a long-time Broncos fan, if they keep winning under Tebow, then everyone can pull out whatever excuses that they want to explain how it isn't him, just so long as they keep winning.

Goodnight now, newbie. :D

haha no, I meant about the Tebow discussion! Not join date, duder!

My only thing with religion? Don't rub it in my face. I only brought his religion up as means to illustrate WHY he gets so much attention - NOT that I care about it. If it appeared that way, I apologize. I remember all the things in the news at the beginning of the season about his religion. My guess is that if this wasn't brought up and made an issue on the news, he likely wouldn't receive so much attention. Do you get what I'm saying?

If he can find a way to keep winning, then by all means. While I never said anything about his leadership ability, I will admit to saying that he's not one of the "greats" when it comes to skill. I personally cannot speak to his leadership, I'm not part of his team! But leadership ability is a completely different conversation entirely.

Yes. I actually got them to add it to my account after about 25 min on the phone with a rep. There is actually a section they can plug your number into to get your eligibility. The main criteria is you being on a 3G phone wanting to go to a 4G model and using a "large" amount of data. Also I believe it is a Midwest promotional, but I didn't explicitly hear him said other regions for sure didn't get it

What the guy did is added a note to my account saying I was qualified and then placed the information on how to verify this in the note as well so the in store personnel could look it up for themselves. If they tell you no at first, DON'T GIVE UP! I didn't get a rep that was willing to do the work to find the info until my third call. GOOD LUCK GUYS! :)

Edit: ninja'd. Still good luck tho!

Depressing to hear. Thanks for the info though!

I called and spoke to a CSR AND I spoke to an online representative. Both told me the same thing. If you received the mailer it will say on the front of it "Applies to wireless number ending in XXXX". If you're phone number ends in XXXX then the discount will show up in your account when you log onto "My Verizon".

I asked why some customers received those and others did not. The online CSR didn't know. The one I spoke to on the phone said that they were sent to people that didn't have smart phones trying to entice them into buying one.

I think I will share my Radio Shack story and trying to obtain the phone.

I am currently on travel in Melbourne FL. This town is mostly full of the elderly and aside from having a very large defense contractor presence, not much else is going on.
Very familiar with Melbourne. Let's see, either Honeywell, Harris or Northrup Grumman? Am I right?

Some good beaches across the bridge, although probably a little chilly right now. I know that mall you were talking about. And there's a little college in the area that I went to, Florida Tech (formerly FIT).

I use about 250 to 300 MB / month presently on 3G. I got them to add it no problem. I had 1 and 3: Presently on a Droid X and I'm midwest (Indiana). Just call, inquire about a 3g to 4g $100 promotion for the midwest and see if they'll add it. The CSR made it sound like it'll apply to ANY device, including the GN. I actually said I was looking to get a GN in a few days for a little cheaper using that promo and she said "well, now you'll get it for $150 less" (I have the $50 loyalty credit).

Well if it goes by data usage I'm screwed. I haven't used much for the past few months on account of my OG Droid basically being a feature phone (that only sometimes makes calls and receives texts). Lol. Thanks for the info though.

what about if I am buying full price or should there be a 4th requirement?
4. Starting a new 2-year contract.

i sent them an e-mail and i've got none of the 3 requirements, nothing to lose tho, it's a freeroll

I am guessing if you meet only one of those requirements you are eligible. I use nowhere near 2gb and I received one.

Wish I had a nexus right now. On a bus got 5% battery left on my dx. Does anyone know if the nexus is good at allowing you to close programs in thee background? I'm hoping by clicking the far right button and swiping eeverything close that will do the trick to save battery.

I sent them an email yesterday and got impatient tonight. I saw so many people trying for it on here I thought I better call before they kill the promo after 1000 people email them. I gave them a call and had it done in 10 or 15 minutes. Very easy.

Not seeing where these people are CSR.......I'm there, but unless these people are CSR's I'm not getting involved.

Hey guys, can I get some backup?

A week. A week is... | Facebook

Three Verizon CSRs (They ARE CSRs, look at their profile) decided that the best method of addressing their angry customers was to try and argue with them, and by argue, I mean issue ad hominem attacks and talk about things they don't understand properly. Normally I wouldn't advocate for arguing with CSRs, as they are just trying to make a decent living, but here, they clearly instigated the incident, and I would really like a sensible person to back me up!

Thanks!
