I've actually been expecting a Google/VZW knock down drag out fight of the ages over open devices on LTE ever since VZW won the TV spectrum. Google has been trying to play nice and make agreements rather than just battling. My guess is this got them REALLY close and VZW wouldn't agree to be as open as the Goog was demanding.

I have been baffled ever since the OG Droid they were working together like they were. I knew as the LTE really got going on the spectrum Google had meddled with the rules and FCC on that something weird would go down. I'm picking Google to win this is the ONLY reason I expect the Nexus to show on VZW.

I haven't, now that you mention it - but with the flood of tubes on it, it's either out there and I don't it or it's coming soon.

Same. It looked really nice in the hands -- definitely going to take some time of getting used to the size, but its so thin that it doesn't seem big at all. That screen is absolutely gorgeous though.

C'mon carriers -- announce some dates meow!

There I am seeing some of the screen transition lag that was mentioned elsewhere though :( I'm guessing that's a consequence of him waiting a bit before swyping through home screens and the CPU decreasing the clock speed...but still disappointing to see. Hopefully it gets ironed out.

*edit* I just noticed that he appears to be using an older version (notice the solid software buttons vs. the "hollow" ones seen in the announcement from a few days back). Maybe that's the problem :p

Not sure they come from the same wafers, as the 4460 does have pages more extensions. Also the clocks are independant, but not certain whether they are truely independant, or locked to a reference based on multipiler. I'll have to get some clarification on it.
 
Well, I took a screen shot in 1080p full screen mode from the you-tube video going around.

While it gives me hope I wait and look towards the other side of the horizon at the same time.

I make no predictions or have anything like the amazing conspiracy theories going around here and the Webb. I just watch and wait.

you know what is odd about this now that i can see it full view.... dont all the other verizon LTE phones have the actual "4gLTE" logo next to the signal bar, and this one just has a kind of generic 4g?

I would think the extension differences would be something you just turn off and on, but have the same die. Not sure how many pages you are talking about, but doubting even a huge number of pages of extensions would lead to any drastic differences in die size and transistor count to justify creating whole separate designs on separate waffer runs. Not an expert on this stuff by any mean, but pretty sure the norm is to use the same die and enable and disable features for different models of chips unless there is drastic transistor count difference that can happen with separate designs.
 
Since there is still concern about Verizon getting this device (not saying it is unjustified) I thought I would just point out a few things that come to mind when I read the rumors and supposed problems regarding the devices arrival on big red.

After the unpacking event was canceled rumors of all sorts hit the web about why. Some of them were reasonable and others were WAY out there.

None of these rumors started until after the HK event where nobody jumped up and down yelling, "Verizon Verizon Verizon, this phone is coming to VERRRRRRRRIZZZZZZZZZON!"

Some of the people making comments, statements really, on delays or cancellation have had spotty records with regards to information accuracy in the past. I'm not saying they are right or wrong now, just addressing the fact not everyone is right 100% of the time.

The Galaxy Nexus shouldn't have anymore problems with network connection than the Droid Charge. If the Charge has good radios for CDMA and LTE then the Nexus having poor radios would be very odd. Verizon would raise a fuss if the radios were poor or causing problems though.

Declaring the Nexus now would most definitely hurt sales of the Razr. Declaring the Rezound (I can't get over how much I hate that name) after the Razr and/or Nexus won't cause as many problems because of people's like or dislike of Sense.

No US carriers have been declared and until one has there isn't really reason to believe in problems.

Looking back I can see that almost since day one this phone has been talked about as a Verizon phone.

I have not heard anyone anywhere say that this phone WILL NOT come to Verizon.

Rumors are very easy to start.

Yes and no. Most software obeys a 90%/10% rule (even 99.9%/0.1% in some cases) where a vast majority of the execution time is consumed by a tiny portion of the code.

If a program is spending virtually all of its time calling certain functions (such as the OpenGL driver), and those functions aren't significantly loaded down by debug code, then the whole program will run about the same speed even if all the rest of the code is unoptimized.

This is a very good point. None of us think that the US won't be getting this phone, yet no carriers have been announced. So it's just as likely that VZW will get it as it is not. And actually it is more likely they will because of all the evidence showing VZW as partner. Time to chill. I'm going to go sit in my zen garden now.

Why? Wafer splits are hard enough - are you saying demand is so low that makes sense?
 
Hey all you folks getting RAZR and hoping for ICS in 2012:

Has it occurred to you that you will have 4 USELESS capacitive buttons at the bottom of the phone?

I'm sorry, but if ICS is making hardware control buttons obsolete, I sure don't want any on my next phone. I call it "instant obsolescence". Get RAZR if you wish and wait for ICS if you will.

My money's on button-less phones from here on out.

has anyone seen any videos on how long it takes the gps to lock? (i'm assuming not)

and have we heard if the prime records video in mono or stereo?

My concern began when the FIRST unpack event was announced and VZW's name was NOT part of the event.VZW seems to have been the primary network partner in this from the get go, so I am sure they COULD have been included in that initial announcement. Why would have they opted out of the very initial event? Sure the second wasn't in the USA, but this is all watched through the net anyhow. You don't go from primary partner in a project behind the scenes to nonexistent when things go public for any good reasons.

I'm obviously in Camp Nexus, but I'm pretty sure that i read that apps and the updates will be designed to accommodate physical buttons if they're present. So they just wouldn't have the software buttons. But what fun is that anyway?
