***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

I'm seriously leaning towards the latest specs and not the BGR ones. Mainly because they are simply more logical. I can't see Samsung going backwards (from SGSII and SGSII HD) in specs on their latest phone, especially being the first one running ICS on the biggest network in the U.S.

I highly doubt that BMX will ever give anything concrete. He frequently tests the latest phones, works for Google, and has multiple contacts within Verizon. If I was him, I wouldn't release a single thing. Who would want to risk that job? Not me.

Yeah, logically speaking, the newest specs seem definitely more accurate. The ones from BGR from earlier today seem old. I remember seeing those exact specs a while ago somewhere (can't remember where they were) but I remember Kellex from Droid-life confirming the newer specs, I thought. (1.5 processor, larger mah battery, etc) So, it's kind of strange to me that Kellex is now pretty much piling on and confirming what BGR has reported. I also can't see Samsung and Google releasing this phone and it being behind the curve, so to speak, compared to the new GSII HD. It doesn't make sense that they would do that for the next Nexus phone, however stranger things have happened. Here's to hoping the newest specs are correct and we have a real shocking and monstrous announcement next week.

If Apple has taught me ANYTHING, it's that it's not all about specs. I'd take the prime over any higher spec'd phone (if there are any) simply because it is optimized by Google and Samsung themselves to run ICS perfectly. I don't want something that launched with Gingerbread and then have to be updated months later to ICS.

No offense to Kellex but he's just riding the wave. He doesn't know the specs and never did but to be fair a VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY small few actually do. You can tell everyone is grasping at straws.

I will say this though, this guy Lee Johnson was right about the Bionic. When EVERYONE else was on the rumor train he jumped in and told another story. People questioned it and he eventually was proven correct.

It's a tough game out there and these tech blogs are all fighting for "Breaking" stories. They pull the trigger too quickly and trust too many people.

Perhaps I did just eat myself, Jungle. Perhaps I did just eat myself.

But what I'm trying to say is that just because the specs on the Nexus will be on par with other phones (SGSII HD, Vigor, etc.) doesn't make it "non-special". There are much more things involved in a phone that make it special. ICS, Form factor (sexy),HD resolution on a Super AMOLED screen and, if it's a true Nexus device (which I believe it is), updates directly from Google and not Samsung or Moto (after they've put their crap skins on it first).

All of this points to a very special device. Whether it's a 1.2 GHz or a 1.5 GHz or a 5 GHz device, doesn't really matter at this point. If they tried releasing it with 512 MB in RAM and an 800 MHz processor with a crappy qHD screen then yes, I'd be pissed. But these specs are great and on par with what I've expected.

And yes, I'm entirely too self-confident. But that's neither here nor there. And I don't use a pop-gun. I'm currently using this:

Why don't you take a peek at the hologram projector? It's right there in the hole at the end. Go on, Jungle. Take a peek. :D

You mean.. sexy.. ane whatever specs it has? I think Mitch Ducanon has one, which you would be interested in.

I think you're just messed with your own speculations. Firstly you said you said you want it, becaus of fantastic specs, and was not interested in ICS. Now you just say something different.

Maybe you should just hold for a while, go back to work, i think you should not distract yourself. Easy easy.

I don't like nokia, thanks. I prefer my loved device.

Iv'e been on the fence between the prime or vigor. Won't really know where I stand until I get a chance to use both in person most likely, but I can say that I am a bit disappointed with some of the leaked specs today. Not sure I am down with or want a curved screen, and not sure what the point of the curve is anyway. But until I actualy SEE the displays on bboth phones its just conjecture at this point. The display on a phone is probaby the single most important feature to me. Secondly, if the Prime does not have a micro sd slot, thaat is a big strike against it in my book. Beyond that, we are all really guessing about so much about the phone. People are touting ICS as a big advantage, but really i expecct it to be buggy as all first relase OS upgrades seem to be. Maybe ICS will be all that, but we don't know that. Right now, based on the rumored specs, I am leaning towars the Vigor, which I didn't expect to be the case. Time will tell, but I've been holding on to my VZ upgrade since February for the right phone to use it on. In the mean time I've gone through 3 droid X's (great phone BTW) and have been on a DX2 since beginning of July that I bought slightly used at a good price. DX is too dated to go back to, and the DX2, while being a fine phone overall, has enough buggy issues that it will likely be retired for either the Vigor or Prime.

Yes sir....you cannot go wrong buying a Nexus device. There is not one drawback to purchasing it unless one doesn't like the manufacturer. Other than that it's a win win owning a Nexus.

I've waited over a year for this moment. Thats how important it was for me to own one :)

That's one way to look at it. Another is that one could reasonably expect ICS to be somewhat buggy out of the gate and being a first adopter may mean waitting several months for the bugs to be ironed out. I expect the latter is more likely the scenario going off past history of hyped OS upgrades. Every single one has fixed issues, but also created new ones that take months to iron out.

After owning a Nexus One, I can't believe I bought the iPhone 4. Jumped ship to AT&T and everything. Sold it for a ridiculous amount in February and picked up the Inspire. I like it, but it's no nexus.

Glad to see you guys are in a better mood today!

I can say that the specs posted this morning have 4 inaccuracies in it.

If you stick to BGR and Droidlife's specs, that's fine. You will be pleasantly surprised on October 11!

:)
THANK YOU! for clearing this up.:)

I'm not getting the disappointment over 4460. It's not outdated or inadequate by any means. We can't tell how it will perform with LTE or the screen because no phone is currently running on an OMAP 4460.

Some people just need something to complain about.

Give us a hint. :D

I've owned the G1 and the Nexus One. I, and countless others, can deal with the initial launch of a new OS. It's not even near the peak of drawbacks on my list.

I'm pretty sure I'm not the only one here wondering where the marketing is on this phone. If there were ANY marketing besides the one teaser vid which only showed the profile of the phone and still might not be as accurate a render as we think, please tell us where you've seen any other marketing as I'm pulling my hair out for info over here! lol :D

I'm not sure I understand. What kind of marketing would they do for a yet unannounced phone?

Wait, which specs are inaccurate? Should we stick to BGR's specs?

As a software developer you're spot on. It doesn't matter how much horsepower you have if the software isn't optimized.

ICS should as always bring more performance tuning, which will be a bigger jump in performance than going from 1.1 ghz to 1.2 ghz

I hope in GPU acceleration, persent versions of Gingerbread sometimes just slows down. I heard it will have GPU compatibility, and run smoothly.

Thanks VZ! Well, I think the newest specs by Lee Johnson are probably the most accurate which I am perfectly pleased with (SGSII HD LTE specs = WIN!). As I've said before, you can't please everyone. It doesn't matter if this phone is released with quad core processors, 12MP camera, etc. People will always find something to pick on. Bottom line is this will be the most advanced Android device when released with the newest OS. That makes me happy! Everyone needs to just relax a little. We will all know the official specs soon enough. Then we can really debate the worthiness of this phone.

Sorry, Han, should've been clearer. The specs that BGR released this morning have 4 inaccuracies in it. If you persist in believing them, you will be proven wrong on Oct. 11, but in a way that will make you happy.

Ok, lunch break is over. :)

Thanks, VZ.

I hope one of the inaccuracies is NOT the name. I love "Galaxy Nexus".
