I forgot about the size of this thing. I typically like to keep phones in my front pocket but I guess I'll have to see if it even fits in there. I've tried keeping phones in my back pocket before but I kept forgetting and sitting on them..lol

I believe a while back, someone MEASURED the curvature and found that it would best fit in your right, back pocket......depending on the dimensions of your buttocks......and honey, we're not going to discuss that here.

I truly appreciate the info. Is there any way you can expound on number 2 and 3 without putting your source(s) in jeopardy of violating their NDA? I'm specifically wondering how this phone will be a game changer. Maybe you can point us to rumored specs from GSM or others. For example, if you said "I can solidly confirm that the GSM specs are accurate, but even better", that could lend credence to the Prime being a game changer. I don't want to get anyone in trouble. Just trying to find out how we can get the most information as possible without jeopardizing someones career.

A 4.65" screened phone in your front pocket? I can hear it now, "Is that a Nexus Prime in your pocket or are you glad to see me?":D
 
Regarding the processor debate on Nexus Prime, I was also a bit skeptical on new 32nm Exynos in Nexus Prime. But the more I think about it, it might just end up in Nexus Prime. Because if Nexus Prime doesn't get it, what devices are supposed to get it after Prime and before SGSIII next year? It's starting to sample now, but no one knows when exactly Sammy finished internal development and testing in devices. I know that usually starts at around the chip sampling time period, but this is Samsung making their own chips, so they could have done some early testing for their device. Can't think of better device than Prime to introduce new Exynos just like original SGSII did with old Exynos. Of course, this is just my theory, speculation. Again I won't be disappointed with 1.5ghz OMAP 4460 in Nexus Prime, but I will be pissed of with anything less than that.

This is a good point, and to be honest, I don't see the SGSIII getting it either. It's an upgrade over the SOC in the SGSII, but not by much. It's not a generational leap. By the time SGSIII is ready to launch, we'll have Krait and Tegra 3 (quad-core SOCs), and OMAP5 will be about to drop (also quad-core).

Also, those SOCs will be 28nm. I see Exynos 4212 as a stopgap. SGSIII will having something better, IMO. Again, this is speculation on my part, nothing more.

Supossedly manufacturers are keeping final product out of testers hands. Motorola is now going to be doing it. This will cut down drastically on the reliable leaks we have seen through the years. Why do you think there is a lack of reliable Nexus Prime specs. Its all over the place because there are few that actually know the real specs.

From past experience with these things I'm. Leaning toward Lee Johnson being right with the specs with the exception on the named processor. I personally believe one or both of these devices will in fact ship with the Exynos 4212.

Ill be proven right or wrong when CTIA rolls around but until then opinions are opinions and speculation is speculation.

SGSIII is rumored to be getting new 2Ghz quad core Exynos. If so, this 32nm refreshed dual core Exynos will be going to second grade phones after that though still very potent. And OMAP5 will still be dual core but with cortex A15 architecture.

have a look at the sample availability, and then look at the devices it's in. calculate the time it took to go from sample to production.

That's not possible. I'm sure that early testing uses prototype hardware (and probably a lot of simulation w/virtual machines), and later testing may use camouflaged hardware, but there isn't a substitute for having people test the real thing before release.

While a VERY good assumption its still an assumption with the Exynos 4212. It could have already been ready for production but you are assuming its going to be business as usual like the other company's. You don't know what Samsung is doing with this chip and neither do I.

Your opinion is a VERY valid one but at the end of the day that's all it is. The only thing we are both sure of is that it went out for sampling. Beyond that we have no clue. The chip could very well be already in production and it could very well not be. Id be a fool to claim one or the other.

All we have are opinions on this subject and you know what they say about opinions :)
 
so i missed that last 10 or so pages of the thread. what is the consensus now? do you think that the prime with the better specs will release first or be excusive to verizon? or will verizon eff us all over again and give us the half-assed version. either way il get it, but ima be really mad :mad: if verizone doesnt get the best prime after they sat out on the galaxy s2. the only reason im staying with em is cuz of their service. if sprint had better 4g n service, i wuld have a epic 4g touch... anyway what do you guys think?

Instead of asking for a recap your best bet is to look at the OP. Stephen is keeping it updated with the most up-to-date info.

Except snapdragon is designed by a company without inhouse fab or device builder..

They exist only to sell to third parties..

In the interest of playing devils advocate, if Samsung wanted to they could do the entire process in secret..

There are people who will test the final hardware and if we are lucky we will get a glimpse of it. But don't count on it anymore. The testers that leak stuff are not getting final hardware anymore. This is according to those that are close to different projects.
 
No reply until you read the last 10 pages. We had to. Geez I thought it would be the next post after he missed the last 10 pages and 5 other posts slipped in. Insane.
