and im just saying that google has never said anything of the sort.

I never said it wouldn't run on the Razr:D and wasn't trying to ruffle any feathers;)

I was just honestly asking the question as google stated when debuting ICS that it was designed/optimized (can't remember exact phrasing) for 720p.

Does anyone have a link or any documentation as to why the nexus is so "big"? I mean, looking at my thunderbolt if they were to remove the capacitive buttons and make them software buttons the phone would stay the same size. As much as I 98% want the nexus (soft keys hopefully completely removed with roms). I certainly hope another maker steps up and makes a 4.7" phone under 5". I'd drop the nexus in a heartbeat assuming it could back it up with the "goods."

theres more to a phone than just the screen. they still have to fit batteries, radios(notably these large first gen LTE radios), ports for charging and headphones, speakers for both regular phone calls and a loud speaker, microphones, power button and volume rockers. if you want the phone to be thin, then it naturally either gets taller or wider with technology at its current level

edit: with the screen being 4.65" and the overall phones being 5.35", thats only about 1/3" on both top and bottom of the screen, its not like theres 1" on both sides

uh.. yea... hans.. kind of old news there buddy lol

but yea, reading that semi awkward post made me wonder - has there been anyone on here thats truly been neglecting their lives posting on this forum? has this forum made you forget about the virtues of life?

What specific data are you talking about? Text messages?

Any and all data. That would be text messages, app data, photos, videos, documents, call history, etc.

I understand that the SD card can be removed for some of that info, but to just blindly accept having to get a new phone is not quite as simple as you think. I've seen quite a bit of data loss because there was some hiccup that didn't back things up.

I'm not arguing that it's that big of an issue. I'm sure the sealed battery in the RAZR will be fine. I was just more commenting on your attitude to just return it and get a new one.

Just put your phone in your pocket with your keys. By the time you get scratch number 2, you won't worry about scratches anymore. Peace of mind.

The screen has gorilla glass so it won't get scratched unless you have a diamond ring in your pocket.

Putting a cover over your phone is like putting plastic over a sofa. It will always look and feel crappy even if you buy a $10,000 sofa. It is better just expect some normal wear and tear and enjoy using it the way it is meant to be.

A naked phone will always look and feel better than anything with a cover, even if your phone is covered with scratches The phone is only suppose to last for two years anyways, so there is no point preserving its pristine state when you will never use that way.

I may take you up on that. I may have to being I'm buying on launch day, a protector may not be on the market yet.

theres only one thing that bothers me about not having an sd card. i have a 4 month old, and i tend to have my phone nearby most of the time so it gets used to capture a lot of photos. with my dinc, i just have all the photos automatically saved to the sd, so if the phone dies, who cares, i just take out the card and put it into the next phone and still have all my data. with no card, its basically forcing me to either (A)pull the files from it onto the computer everytime i add something or(B)use something like picasa or photobucket to save them to the cloud, thus eating into my data allowance before throttling(grandfathered into unlimited). neither of those are deal breakers, just in my case, make things slightly less convenient.

edit: also videos, which arent as quick or as small of file size

G+ account. Set to sync photos when on wifi. Works perfect.

Ugh. Just went through 4 pages of nothing.

Guys, you gotta get outside, get some fresh air in your lungs! Play with your kids, walk the dogs, go out on a date night with your wife/husband, live some life!

I was feeling seriously burnt out on the whole Nexus thing yesterday. Then I went out for a night on the town with the wife and some friends, today I saw the wonderful, beautiful, unimaginably breathtaking Bears game beaming to a 54" super rich big screen tv from Old London, spent the evening dining and spending quality time with some friends who just returned from Chile and was regaled with awesome stories from their trips.

Suddenly, the Galnexusaurus didn't seem like the most important thing in my life. I caught myself not caring if it comes out on November 10, or December 31. I realized that the most important things in life are those who you love and love you back, that our lives are but an exhalation and a passing shadow, and that we must make the most of it by being the best we can be to those around us and above us.

Life is wonderful!

So, who cares if it's 16GB, 32 GB, no SD slot, 2 SD slots, crappy glass or Gorilla Glass. . .it's a phone!

Aaah, I feel so liberated and free!!!
Where's Hans and what have you done with him? :D

I think Hans was the only one who stopped everything to be on these forums. maybe he cant multi task and has been so engulfed in these threads shown by all his posts he forgot what the outside looks like.

marketing talk. i would even call that lies. its designed to work at higher resolutions, yes. but i highly doubt the OS is designed for that resolution specifically. since this is the first device to run ics and that happens to be the resolution, im sure they did make sure everything was fine and all. but ya. marketing talk from samsung.

and ya, im still not wrong. google never said that, some samsung guy did.

@ 13:39 when discussing 16:9 720p screen

"beautiful thing about it - is that ICS 4.0 was specifically designed to work with this as its native resolution"

Per Earlymon's post this apparently doesn't have an effect on other devices.

It's a part of owning a smartphone. isht happens sometimes. Losing your call history and your highest scores and levels in Angry Birds is not the end of the world :)

He's from Google.

I'm sure it will run at plenty of resolutions, but I'm also sure that since it was designed for both HD phones and Tablets, that was it's primary focus.

It was a joint samsung-google event. If one party said it, it's agreed upon by both.
The fact is, the creators of the device, closely teamed with the creators of the OS, said that ICS has a native resolution of 1280x720. It may be marketing, but it was said, and it shouldn't be discounted entirely.

I see your points, but what more does the nexus have vs the tb? If 300mah means another half inch then so be it. Just seems odd to me. Trust me, i still want the phone. It just seems like it could have been smaller even with todays tech.

I'm not a thickness person. I was carrying around the LG flip phone (brick looking when folded) for the last 5 years.

It can be. Your phone could lock up, and you can't do a battery pull and the button trick isn't working. Now, you didn't get a calender reminder about the big meeting, so you miss it and get fired. Can't find another job and you lose the house and the wife takes off with your old boss. You start drinking to ease the pain, and when completely broke, try to knock over a liquor store for some cash and booze, and things go wrong and you kill the owner. And then shoot it out with the cops, and take a few down. You get caught, and while you're in the chair waiting for the power to surge through you, you remember it's all because of that stupid sealed battery.

It could happen.

The nexus is still much thinner than the tb. Larger screen, dual core processor. its also much lighter than tb.

Pretty sure you would have more than just a phone reminder if you really had a big meeting. Just saying.

Wow! I think we now have a new all time high on the spinometer. :D:p

You're exactly right Han! That's why I just got up and walked outside to smell the fresh air. It was cold and the air wasn't very fresh, so I came back to sit here and read over and over the posts.

Actually I work night shift and I go out on calls with lots of downtime in between. That is why I catch up at night and post a few when the rest of you are snoozing.

I come back hoping that there is announcement of world version or an subsidized version for att, i guess i am crazy to think either of those things will happen anytime soon ;)
