***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

For those that haven't had a chance to try LTE yet on Veriz's network: I cracked up the first time I ran speed tests on my Bionic it's so fast. I actually tethered with it at home on my desktop (Bionic came OTB ready to tether) and unhooked my DSL for 2 weeks. The upload is what is so nice

I actually WENT to the VZW corporate store yesterday and asked about Nexus. They said they had NO INFORMATION, as all new phones and promotional materials are literally overnighted to them the day before release.

So I don't put a lot of confidence in store reps having the information we need.

:(

Yep, most of the time they get the promotional materials only a day or so before.

And it isn't just with phones for me. Cars, Washer/Dryer, Coffee Maker, Vacuum Cleaner, Toaster, I research the crap out of every purchase to make sure we are getting the best value. Drives my wife nuts, but funny how the stuff around the house that she is always complaining about is the stuff she bought without doing the research ;)

How scary are we related in some way? My wife would say yes

So I've got a $50 loyalty discount, and I'm hoping I can pick up a 32 GB at $249. Does anyone know if that discount is only applicable to online ordering, or do they do it in store as well?

I'm going to try and swing an in-store pickup on the 17th. The hearing starts at 9:45 and there is a Verizon corporate store about 7 blocks away. I might be able to run there and back, although I won't be able to open it until about noon.

I'm sure it would apply anywhere.

Oh the torture of having the box in hand and not being able to open

The member who works at Costco did say, about a week ago, that it wouldn't be available in the store as a walk-in purchase. I think it's a deal where you walk in, order it, and they ship it to your house. That screen shot says "0" under "saleable on hand", so that matches up.

One of the reasons I like BJs instead of Costco (and Costco is great, so no slight to them). But BJs has Verizon Corporate stores inside them, not resellers. So you get everything you would at a Verizon store, plus also they negotiate deals for the warehouse club nature. On released phones, it's only maybe like $10, or extra stuff, but it's something.

BMX just posted this over at AC..take it for its worth

Re: Verizon Launch Delayed..(rumors)
Just wanted to check in..

see that Phil posted a shot showing Costco will be selling it at 289.00...so with them in place Radio Shack and Best Buy should have the device in their systems as well,

now if we can only get VZW to share the date..

Maybe the fact that all the media coverage of their recent announced devices mentions that customers may want to wait for the nexus would help that out.. but nope.

All this hype for a devices that are running Gingerbread and are basically evo's and droid x updates when you can be the first to have a GS2 HD level running ICS device and you sit on it?

and they wonder why people call you clueless....lol

Maybe we should have called it the Droid Nexus..

Just put that badboy in your jacket pocket and your confidence level will skyrocket. Easily won case. Take that Mr. Judge.

Jury members will say, "Not sure what is up with HanSolo, but he's so smooth, he wins."

For anyone who might fancy live wallpapers the spectrum LW from the GNex is in market free and works nicely on my CM7 Inc.

There is also the GNex boot animation made as a LW on XDA here courtesy of mazook98. Works well too on my Inc at 20fps

Wow... read the first line and was just so confused.

Good day to ya'll! love sleeping late

12 days!

This is 13 days too long, amirite?!?!

All joking aside, I'm being very patient with this release. My Charge is being very good to me (except those random reboots but I'll take blame for not wanting to update the ROM I'm on).

From my experience with the bionic the store would not give me the 50 loyalty discount I had to order it online to get it. I just had it shipped overnight for like 10 bucks had it friday morning. But the salesman could have just been wrong.

How about some questions while we wait? I actually have a few if you guys don't mind? I'll do them one at a time.

I don't understand the whole screen thing. I know what HD is but i don't think i can tell the differnce between pentile and SLCD, etc...

My questions is, coming from all HTC phones that i think are LCD is one way or another, Will the Gnex Screen be one that you can see outside in sunlight? you couldn't on any of the HTC's. I don't care as much about resolution as i do to see it outside

thanks

It is only online that you get the discount. Idk why but that is the case because I went in store and nothing showed up so I just went back and ordered online. Usually they have free overnight shipping promo's anyway.

You should be able to see it better outdoors than on htc screens. Won't be the best but will be better than the lcd screens.

Samsung's components are among the best (screen, processor, etc), but I believe Motorola has the best structural build quality. Samsung uses more plastic, so their phones are lighter, and don't feel as solid as Moto phones. The GNex has a plastic exterior, but an aluminum frame. Its definitely not as nice looking or feeling as the RAZR, but the testers have been pretty pleased with the feel compared to other Samsung phones.

If the G-NEX feels like my Galaxy Tab Ill be happy.

I just asked two online reps, and both told me that the loyalty discount would apply in-store as well. I'll just have them call customer service from the store if they give me any trouble over it.

What OTD is saying is that average consumers are stupid.

I think most of them might look at it the other way around. ;) We all have our things. Our thing is phones while there's may be sofas or lawn fertilizer.

No, I think that she's saying average customers are both misinformed and disinterested in having the latest and greatest. For example, I'm sure your vacuum cleaner is of average quality. Most of ours are. However, avid vacuum cleaner followers might say you're an idiot for not having an Electrolux Trilobite 2.0. Are they right? Not necessarily. You're just not as interested in it as they are.

Most people just want a phone that works and looks decent. We're the crazy ones.:p

Exactly! I care about my kitchen and the appliances in it, but I love to cook. Someone who eats microwave burritos for almost every meal would think I'm crazy for shopping ovens, range tops, refrigerators, etc. the way that I do.

Heck, I'm doing an indepth comparison between the LeapPad and the Vtech InnoTab for my daughter's Christmas present right now and those are just toys to some.

thanks RedRaider. One more concern and I'll stop asking stupid questions.
I have always had Sense. My phones are for work (they buy for me). We have a good exchange server type outlook mail.

I know about the new G-mail on this thing but what about my outlook work mail. Will there be a seperate mail client for my outlook. I don't want it mixed in with G-mail

thanks

Not stupid questions at all. Sometimes someone asks something we have all overlooked.

I can't answer this question for you but am interested in the answer since my server at work is also outlook. On my Incredible its separate from my other accounts and I don't know if that's something android or htc specific

It's funny, I do research on the things I buy too. I remember the last tv I got. All the research I did helped me talk my way into getting it half off at video only. I think they just wanted to get rid of me at the end of it more than anything though.
