YankeeDudeL, You will not be able to walk in, buy, and walk out with a phone. I think that's why there is 0 in stock.

Walk in pre-orders eh?
That withstanding, I'll hold out on supplies until I need to go. I want the extra warranty.

I have read all kinds of different reports on how it works with Wireless Advocates (WA) at Costco's. I guess it depends on how sharp the customer is and the same for the person at the Kiosk at the time.
I have read complaint against WA but they are dated and kind of few, I did not dig too hard.

I have been told they do not honor the Verizon loyalty discount (LD) but claimed they provided the phone at the same cost or less as if you went to Verizon. @ the reported $289.99 - Not.

So... if I go to costco and say I'll take it and please take off the $50.00 LD, that would make it $239.99.

So, I dunno, its all unconfirmed so far, we will see.

YankeeDudeL, who works at a Costco mobile kiosk, says that you will only be able to order it at Costco, and they will ship it to your house. You will not be able to walk in, buy, and walk out with a phone. I think that's why there is 0 in stock.

Maybe they will do only walk-in pre-orders initially. But I think they will do Nexus sales in store shortly after that. Sometimes they don't carry some phones on launch day and start selling it about a few weeks or month later. Also I wonder if that's only for Costco where YankeeDudeL works or the same nationwide.

Come Monday, we should have a good indication of what will happen. If the vigor goes into presale at that time, then I think we'll have a slightly better chance of the same on Thursday. I personally don't care either way as I plan on going into the store. Then again, I may talk myself into not paying full price, adding a line, and order from costco. Then I will just cancel the data portion and keep the SGN on my current line. I figure cost will be a wash or pretty close anyways.

I think it would be cheaper paying full retail. I mean $289+taxed+350etf is most likely going to be more than the phone full retail and less of a hassle buying full retail.

I am not sure about the loyalty discount. But from what I keep reading in here, everyone says. No. I have also never bought from wireless advocates (costco), but all of my family does. They do for the warranty and return policy. I will say no matter what, I know samsung customer service is great. I dropped my phone in a lot of water when I had my nexus s, sent it in to them, and they fixed it at no cost to me and without a complaint!

I originally thought the same thing. But in my state there is no tax and I am not going to cancel. Just pay the $10 a month, 24 months * $10 a month = $240. $240 + $ 289 = $529

Even so, I am not sure what I will do. I will want it on launch day like my ns.

what's the 10 for? Isn't the 289 a contract price? How's there a ETF then?

The $10 a month is for the additional line I would put on my family plan. I would cancel the $30 monthly data charge, and only have to have $10 a month for the additional line which I would add a very old dumb phone to. It would basically be a placeholder, and not a line I would use. This would allow me to get the phone at a cheaper price, maybe. That is not why I would do it though. I would mostly do it for their 90 day return policy. No, I would keep my SGN, but if there are any issues, my ability to swap would be longer. Then I would not have to deal with Samsung (despite my previous positive experiences) since I do not waste money on Verizon extended warranty.

I have already checked into this, and Verizon and Costco say it's all good to do. You can cancel a feature anytime you want, just not the line without penalties.

FYI: On Saturday November 5,1955 Dr.Emmett Brown invented the flux capacitor. This was the cornerstone for his time travel experiments. Anyone want to go to 11/17 2011?

YES! But how do we get to 88 mph??? The Libyans are in pursuit, and the mall is getting closer!

Not familiar with this add a line thing. Could I add a line and get the phone on contract and then cancel my primary but keep my grandfathered unlimited data? That is if I just don't sell my thunderbolt and pay full price for the nexus.

I would verify anything with a rep or someone who knows what they are talking about more than I do. But I know you can cancel a line anytime you want. If you cancel one that is under contract, you will pay an ETF (early termination fee). If it is not under contract, then you can cancel without penalty. But that would bring up the question; why would you get another line and cancel your other one if you are not under contract?

Also, grandfathered data will not transfer to another line of service. Not that I can imagine anyways.

If you cancel the primary they won't let you keep unlimited data. It doesn't transfer between lines.

After I read my post, I think I did not explain things as good as I should have.

Hopefully this helps:

1. If you have your thunderbolt under contract, and get another line just for the SGN, then cancel the thunderbolt line, you will have to pay the ETF. Also, you will lose your unlimited data.

2. If you are not under contract for your thunderbolt, and get another line just for the SGN, then cancel the thunderbolt line, you will not pay the ETF, but lose your unlimited data. You will also have a new cell phone number. What a pain that can be unless you use Google Voice!

Makes sense in your case to just keep things as is, keep unlimited data, and try selling the thunderbolt to pay for your SGN. Either that, or do what I have considered. Add a line if you are on a family plan, cancel the mandatory data to it after you get the phone, put a dumb phone on it, and pay $10 a month until the contract is up.

Thanks for the info. Sounds like too much work. LOL I'll just sell the thunderbolt. :)

Yeah, I agree. That is why I am just considering adding a line. It kind of also depends on full retail. If it is $50 or less compared to full retail, I will just pay full price. If it is $100 or more, I may go the additional line route. Especially considering how it is like financing the extra $ at 0% interest.

For my Verizon extended warranty, I keep my old phone. :) Much cheaper than paying a monthly fee. You can switch your number to the old one while you send in the current one for repair.

The $10 will be more like $13 after taxes. You could however add the line for the subsidized SGN and then wait until Verizon changes any portion of the contract (they do so every so often. The last time was in July I think) and then try to cancel without paying the ETF

Even if it is 100 more it is still cheaper than 10 a month(for the extra line) X 24 months=$240

They don't change it that often and I wouldn't rely on that because that could not happen for months.

I didn't think about taxes or fees. In my state we don't have tax, but there are always the 911 fees and whatever else everyone has. I will have to look at my last bill and see what other charges are added to an additional line. If it does come to around $13, then it will be $13 * 24 months = $312. $312 + $289 = $601. Hmmm.... Time to go look for an old bill!!!

EDIT: I checked my bill. It looks like .99 Fed fee, .16 Reg charge, and .83 admin fee. That with the $10 comes out to $11.98. So back to my math

11.98 a month * 24 months = $287.52
$287.52 + $289 possible contract price = $576.52

That sure helps! Thanks again for reminding me about the fees. Still is a tough decision. I am guessing the phone will be over $650 full retail. Plus, being able to pay less, and have the amount extended over two years, without interest, is very appealing.

* I am also not considering the $35 activation fee as my local Verizon store already said they would waive that. I also believe Costco does as well. I am not sure though.

I wouldn't rely on it either but if you are going that route anyways I'm just advising to keep your eyes peeled for any changes so you can cancel and save the remaining portion of your contract.

Only thing with that is that you will lose unlimited data by cancelling your contract. To me unlimited data is worth paying a little more for a phone.

No. You would be cancelling the $10 a month line which has no data. You still keep the line with the SGN ergo you keep the data.
