I know we all like to let each other we we agree with ones position but do we really need 10 people to post things like 'me too' or 'i agree'. Isn't that one thing the Thanks button can be used for?

This forum has a LOT of posts. Most of which are meaning less. I think if the forum contained more useful information than useless banter we would get a lot more people to come out from shadows lurking and and participate with their thoughts.

Yes. Can you let Rob know, Steven?

I think Rob was also going to look at the number of 'thanks' on his post to see if it was a good idea. I don't know if there's a way to see how many members are in this thread (or at least how many make more than a couple posts) but I think last I saw it was up around 60 thanks.

screw it. im getting a razr. and not the smartphone razr. the tiny little pink flip phone.

True story, I work with someone that still uses the pink Razr.

Just out of curiosity... why are the "I just ordered my G-Nex-type thread*** threads still closed, when there is people that have already gotten the phone?

and yes, I am still here lol, just listening and bothering with too many phone calls.

Those thread's are only for Steven58. When he orders his GNex, and after he receives it, he will post in those 2 threads and keep the rest of us locked out :p

I thought I heard someone earlier mention an Android App for the forums. Anyone know about this?

Ninja'd many times but I was grabbing quotes as I caught up but there is a phandroid app.

He didn't want to dress up? ;)

Casual Friday??

I don't think so. Google said the GNex would release in November, and it did. Just not in the US. :(

I am 50% positive that on the Verge it was stated the LTE version would release in November but he wouldn't give a specific date.

Verizon didn't discount it, Amazon did, but only for new customers - which I still think was a major rip. I would have gladly burned an upgrade at that price.

And, HELL NO, they will not reimburse you the difference. That's part of the excitement of living on the bleeding edge.

Wait, didn't Apple or was it AT&T give early iPhone purchasers some sort of rebate or refund after they slashed prices??

So how silly are we going to feel when this phone is released on Monday :D

Extremely silly.

Don't be...embrace your namesake. I'm sure you chose it for a reason. As George Lucas said about Han: He is "a loner who realizes the importance of being part of a group and helping for the common good".

No, I was apologizing for my part in getting the thread locked down for an hour.

Just had a thought. No rumor or anything just a thought...

Could something else be going on here. Remember Samsung + apple = lawsuit. Could there be some lingering legal stuff that's going on that has not been made public?

Don't think so. If there was a worldwide delay, then yes, that would be possible. But this fiasco is Verizon's own doing.

Nah, Phases didn't call for an end to off topic stuff; he just said he wanted to cut out the banter right around a milestone post

I read his comment as wanting to get rid of the "hanging around" kind of posts. Um, we are waiting for our phones...we are hanging around. I think it promotes good community.

I really think this has gotten out of hand. Yes, we're all impatient for this phone, and we're annoyed at how Verizon has handled it. But "annoyed" is as far as it should go. If you really want to spend all of this energy protesting against evil in the world, isn't there maybe something more important you could turn your attention to?

A couple of points I think are worth remembering:

  1. Verizon announced that this phone will be out by the end of the year. They chose that deadline because that's how much time they wanted to allow themselves to get everything right. Nothing has changed: I'm sure the phone will still be out by the end of the year. All of the "shenanigans" and "games" that people here are so upset about have been manufactured based on rumors, speculation, and wishful thinking.
  2. This is the way Verizon operates. The Fascinate was announced in June of 2010. Verizon didn't give us a date until September 7, three months later. In between they said nothing. Why would they handle this launch any differently?
  3. If you don't like the way Verizon does business, you have two choices. Either put up with it, because there are still reasons why Verizon is the best choice for you; or take your business elsewhere. Other carriers will be getting the Nexus.

As for me, I'm trying to sustain my excitement and enthusiasm for this new toy, which will be coming soon enough. But the bitter and contentious tone this forum has taken is making it harder.

Who is to say that Monday the 21st isn't going to work. When they announced the Rezound it was during Sunday football for a Monday release. Shipments can be hitting the stores today with a deliver by date of today. Although this scenario is highly unlikely im going to hold off until Monday to come and go before I get all worked up again.

It was announced on the 3rd that the Rezound would be released on Monday the 14th. I hope the Nexus goes by that but I don't see it. At this point I am not expecting it until mid December.

Well said. We need to mature up here.

We have equivalent open threads for the GSM Gnex. ;)

Am I correct in assuming that we want a Rob letter and article? I really do. After all, if it ends up as a Phandroid article, I believe it will get more attention.

Steven, I believe the letter and article is the most diplomatic way of addressing Verizon on this topic. Personally, I have had very little trouble with Verizon, CSRs, Tech Support, etc. I have almost always gotten the help and consideration that comes with respectful, well thought out discussion. Am I upset that I can't give Verizon what it ultimately wants (read: my money)? Of course! So why not respectfully explain our position. Mine is this: my wife's LG Ally is so beat that when she yells into the phone I hear her on my phone as a whisper. I want the Nexus so I can give her my 3 month old DInc 2. We have a 1 year old son so our ability to communicate effectively and audibly is 100% necessary. Oh, and I am an Android geek. Thank you Steven, Rob, Phases, OTD, Early, Han, newly appointed guides, existing guides, et al.

Respectfully,

Jonathan Martinez

I think Sunday night football will be the key. Same as it was for the Razor. If we don't see any ads on Sunday night, I don't think Monday pre-order is likely. We can hope though

Verizon will not advertise this phone, your football theory isn't going to work.

Just in case no one has articulated this point verbally yet....part of the irritation of this moving target of a rumored release date is this:
The GNex is consideredd (rightfully so, IMO), to be the current top of the line, best smart phone available. Period.
That said, due to the light-speed development of technology, this won't last for long. Quad core is right around the corner. Thus, for every day that this phone is delayed, it feels as if Verizon (assuming they are at fault here), is robbing us of a day of ownership of the best phone available.

This may be a petty, childish emotion, but I'll admit that I feel that way. I'll bet a lot of other people do too.

Every day that Verizon delays this phone is one less day you'll enjoy owning the pinnacle of cell phone tech. Bummer.

It's already been done. Maybe not on Phandroid, but I've already seen more than one article in the Android press about how this launch has been bungled, and people aren't happy. Verizon already knows, I am sure.

I agree, and I have no problem admitting that my frustration has gotten the better of me lately. :o

watching the Verge Podcast (refuse to call it the vergecast) and even those guys, who arent android fanboys like us, are stumped about whats going on..

Something is wrong with Verizon; they have the best Android phone in the world and they are pushing the Droid Razr.
-Joshua Topolsky

Both Josh and Nilay say that they are considering completely switching from AT&T and going to Verizon.

I mean these guys aren't just some random internet blog... they are some of the best and most respected tech journalists on the internet.

Wow I feel like disagreeing dan today.

Threads that only contain "useful information" are rather short on the internet. Most people feel if they don't have valued information then they shouldn't post and never say anything. This is a bad mindset for the thread and for sharing anywhere. We should be encouraging people to feel free to speak up, join in and enjoy the ride. Let us know you exist and are part of the community. We like having you around and you should feel welcomed and part of the group even if all you want to do is say "hi."
