***Official Galaxy Nexus Pre-Release speculation thread**

Given that Verizon's initial statement about the release of the GNex would be before the end of the year, my guess is that the launch delays are not effecting their U. S. exclusivity window yet.
It could be that the windows is X number of months beginning at release or January 1st, whichever comes first. That would fall in with them being willing to commit to this year, yet not say anything official beyond that.

I'd put the Bionic higher than the Thunderbolt. You are right about AMD, I'd put them in the top spot for most things. Here's why and similarly, why I think Verizon is sooooooo silent.

AMD stands infront of everyone, touting how thier new architecture is vastly superior and will be faster than anything out there and it's due next year. Next year comes and they've drastically missed the date, and when it finally does release a year later, it's horrible compared to the competition.

Verizon doesn't want to miss a date, so they won't release one until they are 100% certain they can meet it.

I called my local VZW cooperate store this morning and an agent said she knew nothing about a phone called Galaxy Nexus! I told her she was probably the only person on the planet that knew nothing. She said she was sorry and told me to hold while she talked to her manager. She came back on the phone and said her manager did not know of such a device.

I was in this store on Tuesday talking to a rep about this phone! I asked to talk to the manager, was put on hold. The manager came on and told me no one in the store knows anything about such a phone! I asked her if they knew nothing about release dates and the manager told me no, they just simply did not know anything about any device called the Samsung "Galaxy Nexus" !!!

WHY do they have to be this way..................... why can't they just tell me the simple truth and say they are not allowed to talk about it? Why a manager thinks it is OK to LIE about this is beyond me.

I will indeed get the Nexus when it is released (if ever) but will NEVER again do business with that store.

Am i calling that store out for being liars? Sure am....................very sad indeed!

On a positive note, 2 minutes after being lied to, i called an authorized dealer in my area. He was 100% knowledgeable about the phone and he took my number and told me he would call me as soon as they were allowed to sell the phone........LOL..........

It is so amazing how VZW and it's sales force can screw up this release!!

They're probably saying what their bosses told them to say. If Verizon wants their employees to keep the phone on the down low, then that's what they have to do. Otherwise they aren't doing their job, leaking info, etc., and they could get fired (see: HanSolo's rep).

It seems obvious to me that that's the reason why there has NEVER been an official launch date. Why announce a deadline you might miss?

Given the way events have transpired, it's hard to argue with Verizon's logic there. We know (through leaks) that they've already missed at least two target dates (11/17 and 12/9). As bad as things might look for them now, it would be much worse if they had actually announced either of those dates.

That's why I've never understood all of the people who say "Just give us a date!" Clearly, Verizon is not very good at meeting schedules, so a date from them would be pretty meaningless.

What I find most interesting about that article is the fact that he is essentially saying there's nothing really special about the Samsung hardware...something I've said for a long time. He essentially says this phone without ICS would have a hard time distinguishing itself.

That's one of the reasons I've said all along that going the route of an existing piece of hardware like the Razr/Rezound coupled with ICS, might actually wind up being the better software/hardware combination.

Do I know this for sure? Of course not, but it's certainly a possibility. Hate Blur, hate Sense? There's always other launchers out there guys.

Just food for thought.

So, you're still sticking with that January theory? The theory that sounds financially nonsensical for Verizon? After having spent hundreds of thousands, or even millions on logistics to get it shipped to stores across the country, and then just letting it sit around makes no sense. They need to sell those phones A.S.A.P. to recover those expenses. They have also most likely spent a good bit of money for any hardware/software issues if there truly were any. So with that in mind, any further delays or refusals to launch the phone will result in negative capital, which nobody likes, especially the Board of Directors and shareholders.
 
Did anyone else get or notice the Verizon LTE Galaxy Nexus ad at the top of the page above all the posts? I tried refreshing a few times but couldn't get it back. Is that new or has that been there for a while?

Why would they advertise adding family share lines with that phone if it's NOT COMING!? :confused:

Do you know if there's a way to change the notification pull down? That's probably my second biggest gripe with the ReZound, right behind the flush buttons that drive me crazy
 
Well, as you probably know by now, the Galaxy Nexus is not releasing tomorrow.

I just found this out about a half an hour ago. I was working as a subcontractor again doing a service call at a Verizon store. I asked the manager who now knows be by name as I walked into the inventory room "any Galaxy Nexus's in here?" expecting the answer of "yes".

Nope, I was surprised and disappointed. Of course I asked why. She did not know. She said we were good to go on the 9th then just yesterday to told us its not going to release on the 9th. She has no idea why or when. Then she's like, I got a secret, come here. She goes to the desk and hands me a Galaxy Nexus. This is the display model. Since I was at work and doing a service call, I had to set it down otherwise no work would get done, plus I don't think I could hang out in there with it for very long. It wasn't for me to play with. I really liked it though.

Then she said if I give her my name and number she'll let me know as soon as its available. So I wrote it down, then some other guy walks in and she hands him the paper and I said yeah, I thought I was going to buy one tomorrow, but apparently I wont be able to. He's like they better release it soon, I've had a lot of people ask about it.

So here we are again. so close, but so far. Verizon was going to release it on the 9th, then at the last minute said no, not happening?

I don't know whats going on, but I've should have known better then to get excited about getting it this soon. Although, I did hold one in my hand. Felt awesome. Here's what I know, they do exist, but I cant have one. Yet.

the Samsung Charge release didn't exactly go off without a hitch, either. It was scheduled for a release date then delayed unexpectedly. It was initially blamed on 4G lte problems as well. Then they quitely started to sell it several days later.
 
OT - Spiderpodium:

So I "lent" my spiderpodium mount to my mom so she could try it out since I'm waiting for my Galaxy Nexus anyways, and have to get my own now and here's her story:

"By the way, I drove to dinner Tuesday night and all 3 of my managers that rode with me wanted to know what my spider was and how they could get one. I had used my phone for gps on the way to the restaurant."

So thanks to you guys here that told me about it, it sounds like a few more of these will be getting sold. :)
 
Can we all agree that this will be the first and last Nexus phone to be released on Verizon?

That alone is reason to wait. I keep telling myself this when I am tempted to get the Rezound.
 
Just got off the phone with someone I have been speaking with for weeks at one of the autorized retailers. He said they got a memo today saying pushed back to the 12th. Did say he had a meeting about it today at noon, in 40 minutes, and would call me if he had any updated news.

At this point I beleive more in winning the lottery this weekend.

1) First ICS Experience
2) (Hopefully) advanced OS updates directly from Google
3) NO BUTTONS!!! (See Razr/Rezound, Flaw Of)
