Root official gingerbread update soon.

yea i see that even though its still a rumor about vm getting wimax with the evo 3d but now another rumor came out on boostmobile side that they will be getting a new 4g phone by quarter end they're getting the evo designed 4g. there saying quarter end so what june would be quarter end. so im saying sprint, boost, and vm will either confirm or deny by late may. me im hoping all these rumors r true because really i don't think gingerbread will be enough we where outdated when the phone came out and if were getting updated to gingerbread with phone getting ice cream were still outdated. so im hoping vm get the evo and the one v. if not im leaving.

I have a hard time believing that there will be an official update for this phone. CS reps aren't exactly known for being reliable sources when it comes to these situations.

Semi-related, but I just received a text from Virgin stating that all new phones they release will forcibly be put on the new plan rates, regardless of whether or not you were grandfathered into their new plans. I'm ASSUMING this means something about their potential line-up.

I received it too!.. It states: Starting 5/27/12, new smartphones will be subject to current plan rates. This will apply if you switch phones. No way Im giving up my current plan lol. I sincerely hope Mantera, Branden, Aus and Mobster dont leave us. :)

i just called virgin mobile and flat out asked if the triumph will get gingerbread, and they told me yes with the next few months.
The lady i talked to then forwarded me to android tech support who confirmed that virgin mobile will be sending out text messages to people to upgrade to gingerbread.

I wish you would have got a recording of that call. I for one would like an official statement on the record before I get all ramped up. Would they be required to release the source codes? Aarg to late.
Edit wow forty replies and the days still young.

try calling them yourself, and see what they say?
record it for everyone else :) aha

I can bet you they will not be releasing any new phones until AFTER May 27th...

As of May 27th when a Virgin Mobile user switches to a new phone they will be subject to the new Beyond Talk plan rates.. meaning that if you are an Optimus V or Motorola Triumph user and are paying $25/month, you will have to begin paying $35/month if you want to switch to any of these new phones coming out.

I also think this is a very good indicator that the One V and possibly the Evo V are getting set to launch in the coming months.

ok dhi call vm they say gingerbread on it way taha call motorola they say no. so which to believe motorola or vm me personally i'd say **** both of them they're just spinning us in ****ing circles. im thinking if we all leave vm maybe they get the message lol. my thing is, is it vm that don't want to give us an update or is it motorola to lazy to make the update. if this all falls on vm being picky on what they want and don't want on the rom for the triumph. then what do yall they will happen with there next phones that need an update we all should be worried in purchasing vm next phone. because when the intercept was supposed to receive the update vm kept pushing it back to make changes to it instead of leaving it the way they made it. they could be doing the same way with the triumph until gingerbread is made the way they want it to be which is cluttered with so many vm app and restrictions then they won't be releasing and update. im about to go elsewhere hoping yall do the same

If they released an update, that would be a good source of possible blobs to snag. I don't even think I would do it myself, except to snag dem files:D. I may use that as an excuse to bring my wife up to cm7 with me.:girlhit:shh don't tell her
I think they'll do it.
As for the upgrade thing. I wonder if I could sneak in like I did when I bought my MTs?
It came out on like the 19th, I got mine on like the 17th. The guys at Radioshack didn't know that they had them. And I got grandfathered in! I have had to add $10 to my wife's account once and she still hasn't used it all yet.
If the HTC One V came out, I would have to concider it for her. She doesn't like her MT so much. And I think it's a user experience issue. If only she would let me ROM it.

Yeah me too to I just bought this phone. I'm stuck for a while but if they update and we get good source code then I might not think about going to another carrier. they should release all the code they can to keep the custom rom community around. We need all the code we can get plus no one wants a phone with out the easy recovery switch that we have in joyed this phone was an easy choice with the simplicity to root and add recovery I hope they do not stray from that.

I hope that they bring the evo 3d (evo v) to virgin.... I'd probably get it... although I do LOVE the MIUI rom here on the triumph...
I'm not a fan of stock android..

six markets eh? hope one of those is Los Angeles.

and check this out.

HTC EVO 3D heads to Virgin Mobile as the EVO V 4G | Android Community

Ive really really been wanting the EVO 3D, i almost bought it off contract just to have the device itself. i dont really care about quad core processors and all that new jazz, what really matters is how efficiently the software runs. CM7 is stupidly smooth and fast on my triumph and i couldnt ask for more. I used the EVO 3D and i know its a decent solid phone.

just becuase you CAN buy a 4 core super phone, doesnt suddenly make these phones "bad"

if it comes to virgin im totally jumping ship
