Understandable, but what indication is there that they might not fix it? "...will provide an update as soon as possible."
Well Samsung has a sketchy record with android in general , the samsung behold II i could give as an example. They said they would update it to 2.0 , but never got past 1.6
Oh ok, I thought you were going purely off the statement issued. I've heard about the Behold incident...
hi, my gps after tweaking it with some of the recomendations here has been locking almost instantly and the chick starts telling me where to go, and very accurate, no probs here i guess.

I really hope they are actually trying to fix this problem or its just lip service because the original galaxy s has same issue and that phones been out for a few months

weirdness i got an replacement captivate since my other one had gps and reception issues, and i turned it on for first time used both att maps and google maps and got an instant gps lock , dont really know what that means good or bad![]()
Mine was instant lock too ... at first ... take it for a drive in a few days and then report back ...
And this is the very reason I might return mine. If this was a known issue two months ago with the S why was it not fixed by the time the Captivate was released. Not sure I want to take a chance that it will ever be fixed.

You didn't fix your GPS, and what you're talking about isn't what this thread is about.
Again, read this post:
http://androidforums.com/samsung-ca...l-gps-fix-being-pushed-out-3.html#post1285904
It takes more than two months to develop a fix, test it on all devices, and re-flash them (which would cause a huge delay) or get the fix approved for an OTA patch through the carrier. I don't think I ever expected the US models to come out without the fix -- I was just hoping the fix would come out soon after release (which I am still hoping ... it's only been a few weeks)
I sure wish the title of this thread was changed to something less official. Gets me every time.
